Burger King's 7 Patty Windows 7 Whopper
And they call us fat in America. Well, we are, but that's beside the point!
No, your eyes don't deceive you--that's a 7 meat patty Burger King Whopper.
So, why does it exist? To help promote a new computer operating system, duh!
In October, Microsoft launched Windows 7, and to promote its release in Japan, they came up with that 7 meat patty, a 2,120 calorie artery bomb.
If you want one of these heart diseases on a bun, it'll cost you, a lot.
In Japan, the price is 1,450 yen, equal to $15.86. Not exactly an investment in your health.
Back in the states, Microsoft stuck with conventional advertising. I suspect that's because every desk sloth would be running out to buy one, or two, or three.
What do you think? Would you eat this?
Via Electronista and The Microsoft Blog.

Another great example of our western meat, sweet, artery clogging, depression inducing diet heading east. The ad exexcs on this campaign must have forgotten about Japan's anti-obesity laws. It just shows how ruthless these fast food chains are.
Let's hope it stays off the dollar menu in the U.S.
ReplyHaving a sandwich with more than two patties is definatly the dumbest thing the fast for industry has done.
It reminds me of when CNBC host Jim Cramer said "What is in the secret sauce, Lipitor?" (cholesterol drug)
On a side note on of the smartest moves by a fast food company was when McDonalds created what I liked to call the "adult happy meal" to help promote their salads.
They packaged the salad and a bottled water with a gift. As far as I know they only did it twice. Once with a gift of a pedometor, and the other time with an exercise DVD featuring a computer animated exercise instructor. I bought both and the salads are awsome too.
I don't know if it didnt' do well or it is just too hard to continue to come up with adult gifts to add to the package.
ReplyO.--I remember when McDonald's did that and I thought it was BRILLIANT! It was a fun way for people to eat healthy and I wish they still had them. I bet they didn't sell very well, though...let's face it, most people who go to McD's aren't going for the salads. But it was a nice thing for the health-conscious people who got dragged along to McD's by their kids or spouses.
ReplyYes, perhaps it didn't sell well enough. Or at least not by McD's gigantic sales standards. I kind of think that is the sales of the adult happy meal were good, they would have found away to come up with more adult prizes.
I have no problem ordering the salad or the fruit and yogurt at a fast food restaurant. Even if it just gets me to order the kiddie burger and fries instead of the regular size.
People are taught that their diet is all or nothing, and thats where failure happens.
ReplyUgh, let's hope this stays in Japan and they don't bring it over here.
Back in the day, when the Packers went to the Super Bowl, Burger King launched a "Gilbert Brown Burger", which was 3 1/4 lb patties on a bun with all kinds of toppings. I remember thinking it was an insanely huge burger, but it apparently pales in comparison to this thing.
Reply"What do you think? Would you eat this?"
Well now that's a stooopid question. More like "Could any of you eat this?"
;)
ReplyIf BK did launch this in the U.S., they'd need to compete against other fast food with multi-patty burgers...and lose any marketing advantage to the battle of fast food addiction.
"Heavy users" is the actual industry term for people who eat FF at least 5x per week.
I consider this pornographic food: at 2120 calories, it's the equivalent of 8+ hours on a 15 degree treadmill at 3.5 miles per hour. Only the Outback Bloomin' Onion, an appetizer, beats that.
Take your walnuts first!

I would never eat that thing! I would die of a heart attack if I did! Having 7 patties, is like a ticking time bomb!!!
ReplySign me up! I'll throw away the bun and eat the burger. Though it would probably have to be two meals. Burger King's burgers are the best.
ReplyI read that "heavy users" account for 70-80% of all fast food sales per week. That's incredible.
ReplyI read that too--it seems like there's quite a dichotomy there. People either eat it all the time or rarely. I could not imagine eating fast food more than 5 times a week...that stuff is disgusting.
ReplyA 2,000 calorie hamburger? Wow. I am all for having a special meal every once in a while, but beyond the fact that the 7 patty burger is just too much for my stomach to handle, I hate that it stands for the predicament we are in. No wonder we as a society have such a tough time with portion control, because when we do go out to eat, there is none. It's a tough battle to fight when it's already hard to say no to what's being put in front of you.
ReplyThis is gross on so many levels. Haven't BK ever heard that less is more? :-0
ReplyAll of u are completely wrong. How could u possibly look at that glorious whopper without watering at the mouth? I never wud of guessed all the comments wud be negative. U all are SICK!!!
ReplyI love you burger kings. BRING THAT BEAST TO THE STATES!!! I NEED 1!!!!
