Weight Loss Communities
On-line social networking is as popular as ever - with new sites appearing every other week. Weight loss is a common theme, and many people benefit from the mutual support offered by an on-line community.
Here are three new sites.
FatSecret
This site takes a unique approach to assessing a weight loss program. Each community member links themselves to a diet (either a popular commercial offering or a do-it-yourself plan). This allows a diet to be tracked (members can log pound lost), and appropriate recipes to be submitted. Free Registration.
ExtraPounds
This site is centered around blogging. Members create blogs and connect with other weight loss bloggers. Free registration.
Losing It
Losing It is a social network that offers similar features to other popular networks. Members can become a part of a support group (based on diet, exercise, age, motivation, etc). Members can make blog posts, calendars, and of course have a "home page" profile. Membership is free until December 2006.
Diet Television has details and basic user reviews of almost 50 diets. The site uses graphs and sliders to allow the user to pick the best diet for them - users can review the diets.
Here is Another great site, that provides support groups, personal blogs, and rewards. Its a great site for those who want to lose weight! I joined it and i love it! So i recommend you check it out..

Dietography.com
ReplyCorrection: Sparkpeople.com is the website. Its free!
ReplyI am so impressed with FatSecret, it's like a big diet one stop shop.
ReplyI feel after reading about all of these up and down diets that the best way to ward off fat is to exercise. Many of my patients do not feel comfortable going the gym because they are unsure of how to use equipment and it can be scary. Personal Trainers are also very expensive. I just recently saw a new site that you may want to check out. It is called Whagaa Software, http://www.whagaa.com. They provide a complete personal training program that you can take to the gym with you on your PDA, Smartphone or iPod. Pretty cool stuff.
ReplyLove the FatSecret site, thanks Jim
ReplyExtrapounds is fantastic, I have met some really great people and the support is just what I needed.
Thanks for the info Jim.
ReplyHi Jim, love all your posts/blogs they're really great.
I took a look at all of these new communities and some others mentioned about and I have to say that FatSecret stands out. The site works well for people on all the bigtime popular diets - not that they work :)
