i tried the zone chefs delivery and was not very satisfied. the daily delivery actually arrives at around 10pm at night and sits in the lobby of my building overnight. by the time i get the bag, the ice packs are melted and the food is slightly cooler than room temp. there are a lot of high calorie snacks but the meals are less than satisfying. some of the meals were inedible and trying to get a credit is not the easiest process. i cancelled the program and i'm still waiting for my credit and it's been 2 1/2 weeks.
ReplyI live in Jersey City (right outside NYC) and I just started Nutropia last week. I am in love! The food is all cooked the day before, packaged and then delivered personally that night for the next day (eg, Tuesday's food is delivered Monday night). The food is all fresh and I have not had a meal yet that I didn't enjoy.
I'm on the 1200 calorie meal plan, and I get 3 meals and 2 snacks and every single one of them fills me up. In fact it's hard to believe I'm only getting 1200 calories.
You can pick which days you want food delivered- I only do weekdays- and if you don't like the food options for that day you can can pick something something different.
The ONLY drawback is the price. It's over $30 a day. I signed up for the intro week and then another 20 days--if I'll see how much weight I lose, and decide at that point if I'll renew. So far though, I don't really see any reason not to do it. I mean, the price sucks, but I live in NYC--food is expensive anyway.
Net:Net I can't say enough in FAVOR for Nutropia. I am in LOVE! I recommend it to everyone in the area!!
ReplyDanielle,
I just signed up for Nutropia's intro week--good to know you like it. I also chose the 1200 cal meal plan since my main goal is weight loss. Although an active person, it doesn't show as much as I'd like as I have issues with portion control. I am hoping this will truly be a fix for it. Have you lost any weight on it thus far?

ReplyI feel like a Jehovah's Witness with a cellar full of Watchtowers. I have been on Seattle Sutton's Healthy Living Plan for two weeks and have lost ten pounds. I've never eaten so much in my life. The food is fresh, filling, and amazingly delicious. No red meat. I pick up the food twice a week, Monday and Thursday. and the total cost for a week (depending on whether you're on the 1200 calorie or 2000 calorie plan is between $100-$120). From what I've read, this is the best deal money-wise. Half the fun is being surprised with what's for dinner, lunch, and breakfast. I had a peanut butter sandwich the other day! It's so easy. I am a person who loves salt, but this low sodium diet is yummy. I am totally sold on this plan.
Replyi live in nyc and have done two diffrent zone delivery diets -- zone diet delivery (something like that) and zone chefs. both were mostly eh, and expensive. also expensive, but definitely not eh, is nukitchen -- in a whole different league by themselves. i did have a few quibbles -- they won't give you a daily allowance of calories under 1500, and as a 53-year-old woman who is fairly sedentary due to a bad back, that is way to high for me to be able to lose weight. they say they will customize your plan with your nutritionist, but basically all they tell you to do is not eat the two snacks each day -- so they there you are, stuck with two items that you would very much like to eat (because you are hungry) but must resist, which seems to me to contradict the whole idea of the plan, which is that you can stick to your diet because they are providing your meaks -- doing the counting and measuring and elimnating the temptation. instead the give you two snacks, tell you not to eat them, but you still have to pay for then. i stated that i feel extremely uncomfortable throwing out perfectly good food, and wonder what they mean by "customizable" eating plans when basically what they gave me was what they gave everyone else as well.
but the food was way out in front in terms of taste and interest -- it's a pretty easy was to stick to a diet. it would be even easier if you weren't constantly trying not to eat those darned snacks and could forget about them. do the people who come up with these diets ever actually diet? as in to lose weight? maybe they should have at least one staffer try it so that they can help the others at the company understand the, er, issues, involved.
all in all it was fine -- certainly better than anything else out there, but everything else out there is terrible, so that's not saying much, and it's just a matter of time before someone else enterprising (who has actually dieted and suffered) comes along and does it really right. one day soon, i'm sure, and i'll be all over it...
ReplyHave you guys not heard about the revolutionary diet delivery service taking London by storm? The Pure Package. Check it out at www.purepackage.com
The lady who started it just won Harper's Bazaar and The Times Entrepreneur of the Year award! Big news! It's whole foods, organic, each meal is nutritionally balanced. They even call up the restaurant you are eating at if you have the night off the programme and tell you what to eat on the menu. A complete god send apparently. I'm trying to persuade them to come over!
ReplyWow, lot of spammers here. I just want neutral reviews. It's hard to pick which one..
ReplyHas anyone had experience with ChefsDiet? It has some lower priced options, but I'm wondering about taste and dependability.
ReplyJust dropping in to say that I've been using HEALTHIER CHOICES TO GO and have enjoyed several of the entress. Enough that I just placed my FOURTH week of orders. The food has options that suit a Latino palate (sweet BAKED plantains-instead of the traditional fried--and turkey sofrito with beans, and steak dishes that have spices that smack of Cubanismo or Boricua cooking). I've been having slow but steady weight loss, and that's with me adding at least 500 calories beyond their entrees and side (ie, more fruit, more veggies, no-sugar chocolate, milk.)
Not salty. Maybe not to everyone's palate, but it's delivered DAILY, M-F (or fewer days or more days, it can be customized), and you choose what you want, extras for an added charge. I can strongly recommend the pancakes and waffles, especially the BEW (egg white square topped with one slice turkey bacon and a sprinkling of low-fat cheese that comes with two low-fat waffles). That is a VERY satisfying breakfast. It keeps me full a long time and it satisfies my old bacon cravings without the full fat of pork bacon (or the excess portions I used to use, since it's ONE slice on top of the eggs).
The lemony garlic asparagus chicken is my fave chicken entree. The burrito is fine (comes with black beans and rown rice inside, along with the fajita-ish steak and peppers/onions). I wasn't wild about the turkey lasagna, but my hubby liked it and ate it all up. The penne chicken is spotty--some days it's so good I lick the bowl. Some days its blander. It's weird when they don't use the mozzarella and substitute cheddar, but not unpalatable. I am allergic to seafood, so I can't comment on the salmon and tilapia and other seafood options.
They have whey protein oatmeal as a breakfast option, too, with blueberries or plain. I'd go with plain and add your own fruit.
The chicken pizza is fine if you reheat in a toaster oven. The chicken pita sandwich is nice. (Haven't tried the popeye wrap).
The no-sugar and low-fat tiramisu is my current fave diet dessert. Pleasant, if not the flavor punch of a full fat and sugar version.
Dayana, the lady who runs/(owns?) the business is personable and will respond speedily to questions, issues.
Oh, I did not at all like the Beef Paprika. I tossed that one out. The only thing I've ordered that I simply could not swallow. So, fairly warned.
The sides include sweet mashed potato, brown rice (not that great, skip this), previously mentioned plantains and black beans, sauteed veggies, steamed veggies, and others.
The menu is online, so, if you live in South Florida and like these sorts of items, and want non-frozen food delivery at a reasonable cost (when compared to some other plans around my neighborhood), then you could check this one out, see the site, look at the calorie and fat and protein counts, and maybe give them a shot.
Not five star food, but for someone like me who wants pre-portioned and lower-fat and some Latino choices and spices here and there, this is in the middle-range: Not superb, but good. And good to deal with. Five days (weekdays) at 3 meals a day (no extra sides) is about 117 bucks without tax and stuff. But you can get four meals a day, too. (I'm doing that next week to get some entrees for hubby's dinner.)
Here's their site: https://www.healthierchoicestogo.com/hctg_menu.php
If anyone knows of a good, not overly pricey, delivery service like this in the South Florida area, let me know. I always like to learn what's out there, and the organic one that is listed above is just too pricey for me, sadly, or I'd love to try that.
The Princess
ReplyHi there - I am currently on Nutrisystem and am loving it so far - most of the food is great (some isn't!) If you google search jazzman's forums there is a message board dedicated to the rating of the food.
I am in Canada, and it is delivered to my door for free every month. Average weight loss is roughly 10 lbs/mo. Average cost is from $250 us - $350 us (every month there is some sort of incentive so if you are alert you can catch the coupon codes and save). I thought it was too pricey at first, till I calculated how much I was spending on fast food/eating out, and this actually worked out cheaper!
Also, if you use their website to keep track of your weigh-ins (daily/weekly - your choice) They sent you a bear for every 10 lbs you lose - I thought that is kinda cool.
Anyways, that's my experience so far with NS... I do recommend it :-)
ReplyI tried Diet to your Door, now BistroMD, a year ago. I agree, the food was great, the portions were ample, and I really loved the crunchy little snacks and morning hot chocolate. I had four problems.
The first was cost -- maybe you spend $650 per month on food, but I sure don't! Maybe you've got that kind of money to invest in yourself, but I sure don't! I did it for 5 weeks, then my credit card bill came in and I realized what it was doing to me! If money is no object, this may be your plan.
The second was delivery. I'm on the West Coast, and the shipments were coming from the Midwest. Once, the shipment was delayed, arriving on Monday, instead of the previous Friday. The dry ice had evaporated, so the food was no good. Another time, the shipment NEVER ARRIVED, and I never got an explanation. This left me "stranded", as I had completely cleaned out the fridge so I could stick to my diet. Customer service was very nice; they sent out a replacement for the delayed shipment, and they promptly credited my credit card for the missing shipment. But I had two errors in five weeks, and I found myself hyperventilating on Friday until the box showed up -- a bit counterproductive, since the point was to take the hassle out of eating.
The third was a problem with packaging. Most of the food comes in "boil in bag" pouches. I really liked this, because I don't use a microwave on my food (Google it sometime; it's a bit scary). On a number of occasions, there was either an unsealed seam or a hole in the pouch, and water rushed in during cooking. I think the pouches get banged around while they are frozen, and sometimes a sharp corner pokes a hole in another bag. The holes are undetectable until the food begins to thaw in the boiling water. I managed to catch a couple before too much water got in, but on a number of occasions I ended up with boiled chicken or beef, with no sauce (and the sauces are great, so this was a tragic loss!). The moral: check the bags while they are cooking, so you can rescue a leaky pouch before it becomes waterlogged.
The fourth: the shipments come in these big styrofoam cubes. I kept seeing landfills piled high with these things! I still have the stack in my garage, as I couldn't bring myself to throw them away. There's got to be a more eco-friendly method of transporting the stuff!
Yes, I, too, would use them again if I won the Powerball. But til then, I've gone back to cooking my own, from a big bag of frozen chicken breasts and some interesting sauces from Trader Joe's.
ReplyI am currently trying NuKitchen (I live in Manhattan). I am so impressed by their food. There is a great selection of meals to choose from, and everything tastes healthy and fresh (lots of vegetables and legumes). Their dinners are also good. Not all vegetarian, lots of choice for chicken, fish and beef.
The thing I like the most is that they use healthy low fat ingredients, but make great use of spices to give their meals enough flavor. The "snacks" included in the package are also good because you never go hungry, can have the occasional treat (healthy cookies, desserts etc) and don't feel like you are making a massive sacrifice to eat healthy and lose weight. If not for this, I don't think I would be able to stick to the meal plan.
I have found that being able to cancel days or certain meals is also convenient (you get credit for the meals you choose not to get). For example, if you have dinner plans, you can choose to get breakfast, lunch and snacks, but not dinner. You can do this until 8 a.m. on the day before delivery.
ReplyI recieved my food from diet to go and I had ordered the higher protien selection because I work out quite a bit. I assumed it would be lean quality protien but it was not. It included some of the greasiest food I have ever had, not impressed. Cancelling the service.
ReplyI went on Bistro MD in August, and although they're super expensive, I love the food. I didn't care for a few of the snack items, so I called them and their customer service reps were more than happy to substitue items for me. Excellent customer service. Dependable shipping. The portions are large. A few times, I very generously let my husband have one of my meals when he'd forgotten to thaw anything out for his dinner, and he was very impressed! I lost about two pounds/week. Will cost you,but it's good stuff!
Replyblueearthcaterers.com ...great home delivery program
ReplyI've been using Sunfare (my nutritionist's top recommendation) for a month now and I love it. Yes, it's about the most expensive meal delivery plan in Los Angeles (they only serve LA and Phoenix), but it's also some of the best food I've had in Los Angeles. It doesn't feel like I'm dieting at all.
ReplyI had the same experience with chefsdiet.com. Horrible customer service indeed! I signed up online, giving my credit card and, aside from an email, no response. I called customer service and got voice mail. I left a message and someone called me back later that day and said they have no record of my order and that I'd have to call back the next day because the only person that could help me went home for the day??? Didn't leave me with the warm/fuzzy so I called to cancel. THAT person told me she would call me back and never did. I called Again TODAY and hopefully they are really cancelling for me. However, I asked the customer service rep to email me with a cancellation notice but that hasn't happened yet either. At $50 per day you'd think they'd have better service!
ReplyI called zonemanhattan.com and a real person actually answered so I'm going to give that one a try. ...hoping for the best...
My phone number is on the DO Not Call List, but chefsdiet.com has been constantly sending me spam text messages and leaving me automated voicemails about their service. I've asked them numerous times to take my off the list AND complained about them to at the Do Not Call Website. I would NEVER EVER used a service that spams people.
ReplyI just ordered a 7 week plan from BistroMD, which includes 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks. I just started to today and the food isnt that bad, plus their customer service is awesome!!! This woman Paula is so helpful and you can let them know early on that you dont like something and they will never send it to you. I had a question about not enough fiber in the breakfast food, and they emailed me telling me that they would have a dietitian call me. So far so good -- BistroMD gets an A in my book. I will keep you updated as the week goes on.
ReplyOkay, so I have been on BistroMD for over a week and I am very satisfied. Never feel hungry and some of the meals are soooo good and others are okay. Def. worth it and their customer service is amazing. They have a list of things you can you choose from if there are certain eals you do not like. Highly recommended.
ReplyHow did you
How did you buy these through Sam's? I have a Sam's next to me and would love to do the same. Any ideas?
Replyit's available online only. just get a sams membership and they deliver to you in a few days (shipments go out on tuesdays)for about 115 plus 15 shipping. (saves 35 as opposed to ordering direct from bistro md)
Replycorrection: after shipping is added at bistro md website, total savings at sams is almost $60
ReplyHi everyone! I'm looking for a diet program for the executives at my work. I would need four lunches and some snacks Mon-Fri. We only have a microwave/fridge/sink...no stove, so the meals would need to be as fresh as possible. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!!
ReplyI had heard pretty good things about Zone Delivery USA, so I checked out their website. Their prices seemed very competitive - so I gave it a shot. I really wanted to like this company. Here's comes the "but"...
I hate to say it, overall it was really a bad experience. Usually the food was delivered around 6PM - for the next day. How fresh can that be, sitting out on my doorstep all night? And their customer service, well let's just say it left a lot to be desired. They were totally unresponsive to simple requests. Last, and worst of all - the food wasn't good. That's the real deal killer.
I would not recommend Zone Delivery USA. You might want to try one of their competitors and spend the extra few dollars.
ReplyI live in NJ and I've had Zone Delivery USA delivered for over a year. Despite a few mistakes in the beginning working with Customer Service has made my weight loss so much easier. One on One counseling, simple tasty meals and exercise I've lost 60lbs and counting When i travel i also have the option of Fresh Food deliveries ANYWHERE in the country. Even my wife tells me I look like I'm back in High School!
ReplyI ordered Diet-to-Go a few weeks ago, not sure what to expect. I am someone that eats at 5 star restaurants a few times a week and consider myself a very finiky eater. I generally don't have time to cook for myself, and this sounded like a good way for me to stick with eating healthy. I have to say, I have been very impressed with their food. I order the fresh food that you pickup twice weekly. The price is very inexpensive, and would cost you the same, maybe slightly more grocery shopping weekly. It certainly saves on what I was spending going out to eat for my meals. If you are reluctant, please don't be. It is a great program. I highly recommend it.
Replyhow much does seattle sutton's home eaiting cost?
ReplyHere are the experiences I had.
3 Hour Diet - Prepared and packaged by Purefoods, which tends to produce bland meals. These meals were frozen and just okay. Snacks were pure unhealthy carbs, which I did not like.
eDiets Deliciously Yours - Another Purefoods prepared meal. Not frozen, but some items were really bad. A lot of the veggies had weird scary flavors. The customer service was really good and they did bend over backward to try to fix issues they were having. This would be a good option for those that don't mind bland.
Diet-To-Go - Food was frozen. There were a lot of texture issues for me. Soggy things from another food in the meal. Badly mixed tastes. Pickles soaked sandwich breads (I hate pickles!). Again, pretty bland foods.
Healthylivingfoods,us - I really thought this one would be great, but their problem is not the food, but EVERYTHING else. I received half my first order 2 weeks after placing the order, then packages had cracked and food was everywhere and it was all room temperature. Never did receive the second half of my order. They told me they were going to reship my order, but never did. I gave them my "new" order, as they changed their menu to almost no selection 2.5 weeks ago, said would ship out last week, then said it would go out Monday. When I emailed them today, they said I didn't select all my choices... not sure why they did not bother to phone or email me to let me know and get my order 2 weeks ago, much less no contact 2 days after it was finally supposed to be shipped. Even though I have yet to actually receive edible food from them, they refuse to refund my order. It has been 6 weeks since I placed my order. Avoid these ones like the plague.I am going to have to dispute them with my credit card company. Oh, Joy!
Despite this I am still determined to find a food delivery service that gives food with some flavor and does not cost a mortgage payment in the process! I might try My New Form next. Anyone tried them?
ReplyStay away from Nukitchen. We signed up with Nukitchen. They completely screwed up our meals, sent the wrong meals, missed many meals and made the whole experience very unpleasant. They billed our credit card more than they said and promised to refund but never did. A real fraudulent company.
ReplyI DO NOT recommend Health Living Foods out of California. I ordered 2 weeks ago and they keep giving me excuses as to why my order has yet to be delivered, yet my credit card was charged on the 2nd day. Their customer service is the absolute worst.
ReplyI agree with you Lisa. Healthy Living Foods is terrible. Some companies have customer service that may not be great, but these people are just outright thieves. I never received any food I could actually eat, or any kind of a refund. Customer service was really nice and full of excuses while I was willing to be patient, but when 6 weeks after my order, I had reached the end of my patience, they got really rude. I own a business and if we offered that type of customer service, I would have been out of business in no time. It is a bad way to run a business. I could very well have been a long term customer, which they knew and they still ripped me off.
ReplyHealthy Living Foods is not a terrible company as I would not put my name behind it if it wasn't, nor are we thieves. We try hard to please all but realize that can not always be achieved. Hopefully, and I do caution that this site take more effort to investigate claims before they make inaccurate statements about companies.
Mary Lee's statements are completely baseless. Mary Lee has never disputed a charge with her credit card company. We did offer a partial refund of which she refused.
There are plenty of customers that are happy with us and our services. We no longer accept the business from problem customers.
ReplyShana,
You just proved Mary Lee's point. Her experience was her experience and if it makes your company look bad, so be it. Spend your time trying to improve your company, instead of calling a former customer a liar. That's really unprofessional.
ReplyWe never call customers liars. But unfortunately can not satisfy all, although we certainly try. Statements by posters should be accurate. Not every one must like us and are entitled to write about their experience, we welcome it on our site. Wouldn't you agree that statements should be accurate? Additionally, please be mindful that there are competitors that try to write negative statements and customers that benefit from affiliate programs that also want to purposely attack businesses and there is also the always hard to please customer(which no one will ever please).
For customers purchasing from any online site it is very important to review policies and procedures that are established by a company before you finalize a purchase. Conditions should be understood upfront prior to purchase and a lot of customers do not do this, then get upset. It is very difficult for businesses to operate when customers establish their own rules. So when we were called thieves we needed to clarify ourselves and what really happened.
It is my duty to clarify and clear our company name.
Thank you for your comment.
ReplyNow Shana, You know I am telling the complete truth. Is it not true that the first shipment was 2 weeks late? Was it not true that you only shipped a 1/2 shipment, not a full one? Isn't it true that you said the rest would be shipped in a few days, but never was? Isn't it true that the half shipment I received was totally damaged, of which I took a photo and emailed it to you! Isn't it true that the packaging and cooling was so insufficient it resulted in the damage and room temperature food on arrival? Isn't it true that you NEVER sent the second part of my shipment, nor provided ANY refund? I waited for weeks for you to get it together, then I waited even longer to get my promised shipment. I am NOT a liar, my problem was waiting too long to get service from you and therefore I was not allowed to dispute the charge! Your company is atrocious and you know that for my money I never received edible food or a refund of any kind! I did not refuse a partial refund! After everything you put me through and the fact that I never received edible food of any kind, I should have received a full refund. That is what I told you. You call that refusing a refund? There is nothing you can say that makes that type of behavior acceptable.
ReplyLisa, got her meals the first week in which she ordered. She was very difficult to work with and threatened that she would write negative remarks. The second portion of her order was refunded as we canceled with her in writing. She was black listed some time ago.
ReplyLots of excuses for bad customer experiences. I tried to work with you for almost 2 months to get 1 full week of food! Now, I too am a problem customer because I got fed up and posted the facts here! I am sure Lisa is telling the truth.
ReplyWow, Shana, is this seriously how you do business? I have never heard of your company before, but based on your responses to customer dissatisfaction (blacklisting people who have problems with your service? classy! not to mention shows great business sense!), I would never even think of signing up. Btw I've been on Nutropia for several months now and LOVE them!
ReplyI am now looking at Heart Healthy Meals. They were in Canada, but it looks like they just went Nationwide in the USA. The menus look wonderful and they rotate and change a lot. They are under $29 a day, delivery inclusive, which is real affordable. I will let you know more once I get my first shipment. You can see their website here: http://www.healthyheartmealsusa.com
ReplyI am awaiting my first shipment of the Bistro diet plan this Friday 2/29/08. I plan on atleast a one month trial. I will keep this blog updated to provide information to anyone who wants to know. I am a type 2 diabetic; 42 y/o; morbidly obese at 300 lbs.
ReplyI just finished a month on ZONE DELIVERY USA...And the best way to describe it is by telling you an old Woody Allen Joke. Two women leave a restaurant, the first one says..."That's the worst food I ever ate in my life". The second lady says..."Yes, and such small portions". That sums it up. Terrible food and not much of it. And BEWARE! You are not told this: You have to cancel way in advance or they will send you another month of their awful food without your permission. They will charge your credit card even if you try to cancel days in advance. It's a con. Do you know of any other company, outside of Nigeria, that would charge you after you sent them a formal cancelation? So if you're smart, you'll go to any of the other Zone delivery companies and stay away from ZONE DELIVERY USA.
ReplyI have now been receiving my meals from healthyheartmealsusa.com for 2 weeks and I have to tell you, I am extremely happy. Here is my experience. I get fresh food delivered on Tuesdays and Fridays. 6 meals a week and I get 1 day off to eat what I want on my own. My cost with delivery charges is $172 a week and worth every penny of it. This is real gourmet food too. You only commit to 12 days of meals, which is really nice. I was delivered 3 days worth of fresh, not frozen, meals at a time. I get to choose my own meals for each 3 day period. I have 6 choices for breakfast, 6 for lunch and 6 for dinner. The menu changes twice a week and then rotates on a 6 week plan. Here are my options for the last 3 days of next week:
Breakfast:
Apricot Pancakes with turkey bacon
Apple Muesli
Breakfast Hash-Fried Egg on top of panfried Potato, vegetables and corned beef
Peach Maple Pecan Muffin
Mushroom and Leek Crepes with Swiss Cheese Sauce
Fresh Fruit Salad with Yogurt with a Small Blueberry Muffin
Lunch:
Pepper Crusted Catfish on a Bun
Smoked Turkey Salad with Marinated Vegetables in a Fresh Oregano Dressing
Pepper Crusted Tofu on a Bun
Falafel in a Pita
Ham, Asparagus and Cream Cheese Rolls
Corn, Bean and Tomato Salad with Soy Meat
Steak and Roasted Red Pepper on a Multi Grain Bun
Chicken with Corn and Tomato salad
Grilled Eggplant and Red Pepper on a Multi Grain Panini
Dinner:
Jerk Pork with Cook-up Rice and Baby Carrots
Chicken Tetrazzini with Mushroom Cream Sauce
Jerk Tofu with Cook-up Rice and Baby Carrots
French Onion Baked Chicken-Chicken Breast topped with Sauteed Onion and Swiss Cheese
Rosemary-Crusted Lamb with Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables
Rosemary-crusted Vegetarian Chop with Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables
Beef Carbonade on Egg Noodles
Salmon Stuffed Portobello Mushroom with Rice and Broccoli
Mushroom and Soy Meat Carbonade on Egg Noodles
They do not use salt or sugars in their foods. They do use herbs a lot. I can season these meals to my tastes, which I really appreciate. I have lost 7 pounds the last 2 weeks, 5 the first week and 2 last week. I look forward to my meals again. To say I am happy is an understatement.
ReplyI just finished trying E-diets Deliciously Yours. Some of the food tasted good, but a couple of issues with it. First, there is a real lack of vegetables in many of the entrees. There is no information that you are supposed to add vegetables, only fruit and dairy. I called, and got no helpful information. Is this really a meal delivery service if you have to add fruit, vegetables and dairy with nearly every meal? Second, some of the food is or borders on "junk food." Little effort is made to eliminate refined carbs and many of the entrees seemed to be floating in grease (the Lasagna, otherwise good, is a greasy but tasty example). There is a lack of protein with many of the breakfasts. With respect to breakfast and lunch, it felt as though little effort was put in to it, and I often left the table very hungry. Calorie content was high compared with portion sizes. This is not spa cuisine! A typical breakfast is a sugary muffin or prepackaged junk cereal. The California breakfast was very good, but also very greasy. On the positive side, it is relatively inexpensive, and you can switch out meals to get your favorites. In fact, on the web site, you can customize breakfast, lunch and dinner for your entire order. That is pretty rare with meal deliveries.
I'm now going to try a box from RAWvolution. It seems healthier. I would love to hear from someone who has tried Deliciously Yours and now feels that another diet is much better.
ReplyHi Marie
ReplyI am also on ediets and I have good success with it. You are right about the vegetables..they send you about 1000 calories worth of food. I have been on it for 9 weeks and have lost 18 lbs. I was thinking about trying diettogo.com and I just read a blog that was not to promising. I usually add a saled with my lunch or dinner I am trying to have about 1800 calories a day so I have a little leeway to add some more food.
I really like the food but I have my favorites.
I picked the 5 day program so I have 2 days on my own. I have learned a lot about portion control thru ediet.
Maybe I will just stay on it for a couple more months. I was also looking into Seattle Sutton which is about $119.00 a month for 1200 calories and you also get fruit with their meals.
Can someone recommend a program with fresh food that is diabetic friendly. Tried to do jenny Craig a couple of years ago and ended up in the hospital with blood sugars levels in the high 300's. That crap is full of no good carbs and other junk.
ReplyHey Terry,
ReplyI don't know if you read my comments below on Healthy Heart Meals...but they do provide fresh fruit for their breakast options. It comes with either yogurt or cottage cheese and a small homemade(not sweet) muffin. I actually eat the muffin at another time as i am full enough. You can go on their website and see the kind of foods that they provide. All you do is choose 3 from br, lu and dinner options. You should check it out at healthyheartmealsusa.com. They also give you an ingredient list so that you can avoid choosing foods that you would not like.
I have been on healthyheartmeals since March and LOVE them. Their food is so much better than any of the many others I have tried. They are great for diabetics. VERY low sugar, no salt, they use a lot of herbs and no salt seasonings, so food is not bland either like so many others here. It is also fresh, not frozen. I have lost 17 lbs since starting in March.
ReplyI was so excited to begin the ZONE diet - what a MESS and DISASTER. The deliveries were never on the right day. When called no one knew any answers and the Manager (so called) STEVE was a arogant jerk to represent the company. The experience was the WORST!
ReplyFor any one out there looking for dependable and one on one service DO NOT go to this diet system. I am now with NU-Kitchen and they are lovely, reliable and very personable.
Hey, I have been on Healthy Heart Meals and I have to say that it is truly amazing! I get FRESH food delivered right to my door. I get to go on line and look at a menu and CHOOSE the foods that I want to eat and FedEx delivers right to my door. The $$is amazing only $19.99/day which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and FREE bottled water. The food is incredible, the choices are endless. I never get bored and I know that the food does not contain any preservatives. I love the variety. I can even experiment with foods that i would not typically order at a restaurant. I LOVE this program!
ReplyI have to tell you about Healthy Heart Meals USA. I have lost 31 pounds since I have been on the plan. The price is only 21.99 per day for three meals and a snack. I am not hungry between meals and actually feel better and don't work out like I should.
ReplyMy problem is that I work in an office all day and snacked while I am working. I would cook for my family when I got home, (which was usually around 7:00PM at night), eat, while I set an watch T.V. I never exercised and weighed 170 pounds. I have now lost down to 139. The price is great and it is fresh food delivered to your door by Federal Express. This is the diet to try!
I signed up for "In The Zone Delivery" and after 18 days ( of a 30 day program) I cancelled the service. I have spent four weeks getting the run around about the refund. I was told if I cancelled there would be a 20.00 charge. Once the refund finally came through it was for quite a bit less than I expected. The accountant was not honest and when I finally attempted to speak to someone in charge I was given the name, told he was not available at the moment, and so left a message. I am not surprised that I never heard back.
Replythis has been turned over to the dispute department of my bank credit card.
The worst part has been the month long hassle with the accountant; saying something will be or has been done when it hasn't.
WOW, Jan, I am SHOCKED to read your comments. I signed up with IN THE ZONE DELIVERY in September of 2007, I have lost 50 lbs and still keeping it off. I feel and look the best I have in many, many years.
The food is wonderful and there is so much flexibility. I can view my menus a week in advance and make any necessary changes to the items I don't care for. The frozen bottles of water was the best idea yet. Now, I don't have to try to dispose of all the ice packs, I get to enjoy bottled water at no extra cost to me. No more lugging those heavy 24 pk bundles around the grocery store, to the car from the car to the house.
I have been lucky enough to experience multiple phases of their services. I live in Colorado and I receive the freshly prepared meals straight to my door, via FedEx, twice a week. I also spent several weeks in New York and at that time they offered local daily deliveries.
I have to say, I have had nothing but good customer service from anyone I have ever dealt with during my 18 months with IN THE ZONE DELIVERY.COM. I don't know, maybe you did give the program a chance or were not aware of it's flexibility.
ReplyAddendum to the comments on the "In The Zone Delivery" diet. They charged 39.99 a day for a 30 day program. the food is not varied, nor does it taste good. It is high in cholesterol and sodium. After 18 days I had had enough and cancelled.
ReplyThey ship the food twice a week with 7 bottles of water! They will not quote you an exact figure on the shipping charges but, instead, say it is included in the whole price.
There is a much better choice, for the same price, and the food is the only thing shipped. It is tasty and there is a good variety.
