Doh Boy: Toy Activist?

Doh Boy is on a mission. His mission is to put "real bread back on our children’s plates". Doh Boy is actually a toy - a model of a well-padded lad - from UK based clothes retailer Howies (via Cool Hunting)

So what is the deal about "real bread"?

Doh Boy's rant is all about "stealth fat" - the inclusion of fat into the bread-making process:

Fat would increase the shelf life, sponginess and, of course, profits.
Which is good for those making it.
But not so good for those eating it.
These days’ three slices of some bread has the same fat content as a well-known chocolate bar.
It’s called stealth fat. The stuff we didn’t even know was there. Mostly because the people who make the bread forgot to mention it.
Doh Boy comes packaged with his own bread tin, and a recipe for making a basic loaf of bread.

Brilliant.

Yeah, that's all well and good, but who the heck has TIME to sit there and bake all their own bread all the time?? What about just buying bread with fewer preservatives in it?

Yeah, let's look at fat content and not carb content or glycemic reaction or anything!

I reckon Doh Boy is a good 'model' for his product!!

Making bread only takes a few minutes. You just have to be around to take it out of the airing cupboard and bake it when it's risen. Wholemeal bread can be fat free, only needs one rising and with easy-bake yeast it's a doddle. Who needs a breadmaker? The kneading is deeply cathartic after a hard day. Antony Worrall-Thompson has a fantastic seeded bread recipe in the low GI diet book.
