America Takes It Off
It's billed as the biggest online get-fit program ever. AOL in partership with Good Morning America (and eDiets) are promoting the year-long initiative. Users can sign up and pledge to lose pounds (and win prizes - called "30 days 30 ways to win")
AOL already have an extensive diet and fitness section (with the better body blog being among the most interesting). What I don't understand is why there are success stories when the initiative only starts on January 2?
It's a competitive season, and eDiets looks set to enlist many more members:
Amid intense competition from other online health and fitness properties, however, Chanko said such immense exposure during a peak dieting season could be extremely advantageous for eDiets. "It seems like eDiets has the most to gain here," Chanko said, adding: "No pun intended."

you know i dont understand why people have to sell these ideas to the needy why does everything have to be about money why cant people just help people in need of advice or tips. everything in this world now is about money. i'm just a little over weight (25lbs) and i'm trying to lose it and i'm excercising but the people in dire need of help who are morbidly obese esp those who couldnt help the position they are in, alot of people shun them in society maybe if we tried and BEFRIENDED them and tried to HELP them they wouldmnt be like that. society has gone down the hole. WE SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED!

Yes, I agree that a lot of weight loss programs are only out for the $$$. Isn't that what business is about afterall? You can't blame the health industry for doing what every other area of business is doing.
BUT - you must remember that we all come with a brain and at least a little bit of common sense. It doesn't need to cost you money to lose weight - or at least not any more money than it cost you to put it on (i.e.: junk food, fast food, video games, etc.). And if you choose to spend money to get healthy, that's your own decision - you don't need to join a gym when the sidewalks in your neighborhood do the same thing as a treadmill. You don't need to buy special diet bars or shakes when you can get nutritious food at the grocery store like lettuce, fruit and chicken breast.
There is PLENTY of free information available to anyone who simply takes the time to find it and lots of people who are out there trying to help those who need it with free information and dieting/exercising tips. And you don't even need access to the internet, just visit your local health department and pick up some FREE information on how to lead a healthy life.
And who ever said that morbidly obese people can't help the position they are in? Who else can they blame but themselves? No, I'm not trying to be harsh and unfeeling - because yes, there are some out there who have medical conditions that promote weight gain but there are plenty of those people with medical conditions who dont' use that as an excuse for sitting on the couch and being a vegatable. Everyone has the ability to eat right, get up and move (even if its just walking to the kitchen to make yourself a salad) and make the effort to get healthy. Overweight people don't need sympathy (myself included) - we need a kick in the butt to get off the couch and do what we already KNOW is right.
Oh sure, I'm willing to befriend anyone. But I'm not going to run out and find a morbidly obese person to befriend just because they are obese. I base my friendships on the person, their personality and common interests we might share. And no, I'm not ashamed of that.

I think that this is basically an online answer to TV's The Biggest Loser. Unfortunately it seems that so much of today's culture is focused around vanity. What about all the health reasons to lose weight? Anyway, that's just my two cents worth.
ReplyWEll as much as i read on the internet about teens wanting to lose weight so much.Some have gone to great lingths to lose it, suck as the sarvation diet is one of the famous ones but in guys and girls that are normal sometimes under weight but think their fat. It also occours in teens overweight such.But teens are so impatient about losing weight they can lose it the right way and keep it off. If you teens are ready to be patient about losing weight even if it will take a few weeks i'll tell you how to lose it the right way and keep it off.
ReplyNOw as myself i tried amny ways to lose wieght and never was succsessful myself. I found this perfect diet that help me but it also required workout 5 days a week leaving one just for walking and the other for break.
Alright now here is the dieting paar of of my weight lost program i called Smart Shape.
Now whta you need to eat and how to control you apeatite. First off for breakfast star out with something that has fiber in it and fruit. Fiber and fruit keeps you full until lunch....NO snacking at ALL until lunch. We all having cravings that last up to 11 to 14 minutes. So to stop them keep your ming occupied for about 15 minutes ,to make sure the craving has past. Now one more thing is keep a water bottle drink alot of water. Drinking lots of water does add water weight but it goes right through you making you have to use the restrom alot..and that means making al the exces water weight for pop and sugary drink leave your body.. Also to help a healthy diet cut out sugary drink that takes about 3-4 punds right their which is already helping you. Now for lunch you should eat something with protien thats not fating and eats some grains too.Remember too that no fast food or fried food..that cuts off about 5-6 punds right there. now for dinner which soemof you mgith have your parents make you food but how about helping them out by making your own..Your dinner should include protein , fiber, friut and vegetables. Most of the astentials. That should help you in your dieting area now on to the working out par.
Now for the legs you should try to do running joggin or walking fro about 20-30 minutes. Now leave room in your day for and hour and a half workout. Now for the middle part of your body also includes some of these workouts.Like you can also run ,jog or walk.
Hiprolls:40/side;hiprolls are taking your legs in a sit up position and turing them on there sides on the ground leaving you top part of your bodys still on it front side.
Lunges:10/side
Sissors: taking both legs about 6 inches off the ground and moving them in a siccors motion.
Repeat workouts 3-5 times
Now for the upper body.
Push-up:20
Lunge-ups:20/side;now a lunge up is puting you body in a lunge potion while having a weight in your hand doesn't matter which side...doing a curl with it.
Just lifting weights:13 minutes
repeat:2-4 times except the lifting weights.
Now this wieght loss plan should help you but it will take a few weeks. Mostly depending on your weight. I would advice for thw ones who do this weight loss plan that are still in school do it during summer break were the will be no distubence and early be or home work or school.
I used to weigh 250lbs. Im 5'8". Im now about 170lbs. I went from a size 24 to a 12. The reason? I was lazy. I never ate the right foods. I blamed my weight on society, and not the real culprit. Myself. As I went to talk to a friend at a Pizza Hut a few evenings ago, I watched a man and a woman walk through the door. They were so large, they could now only fit cotton stretch clothes. You could hardly make out FEATURES on their faces, and they waddled, because they were too large to make normal movements. These people came in for the buffett. - On the other hand, my sister is considered obese. She has poly-cystic ovarian syndrom, which affects her hormons, and mostly, her glucose lvls. With the help of her doctor, meridia, and glucophage, she has now lost well over 40lbs. She has beat all odds. And continues to do so. As for the people who go to pizza hut, when you are well over 500lbs, that is your own fault. You cant blame society, you cant blame your mother, you cant blame your wife/husband. You can only blame yourself.
ReplyI agree. I also lost 40 pounds, as i wasted a good 500 dollers on weight loss products, or researched for hours on quick tips on how to loose weight. Make a plan, excersize, eat healthy ( you can always snack sometimes), and in the end your going to be so proud of yourself. Goodluck!
