Can't Lose Weight Without Ephedra

When i 1st found out I was pregnant, I was 18 yrs old and in a size 5. That is the smallest I had ever been, and the way things are going "ever be". Typically I was around a 9 or 10.

Anyway I found that wonderful diet pill that contained "ephedra" and man did it work wonders for me! I was losing weight at a healthy pace, I had energy that I had lacked before, I was happy AND my hair was thick! Then it was decided that Ephedra was no longer a good thing, and I was really bummed because after I had my son I was in a size 12 and all the excercising and dieting in the world would not allow me to lose the weight. I had climed all the way up to a size 24W, I was always tired and my hair was falling out! Which by the way it hasn't stopped falling out.

I just know if I could have the Ephedra again I could definately lose all the excess weight and I know my self-esteem would greatly improve. I don't understand why they would take something away from us that helps us so much. Why not make tobacco illegal? I'm a smoker, but still why make Ephedra illegal because it's unsafe but allow tobacco to be used when it's not good for you either? It makes no sense to me, and I am positive there are millions out there asking the same question.

Please please please let us have this! I am a member of Curves and I have been for over a year, yes I did lose some weight and some inches, but I need that extra boost. It's like my body is saying No, I refuse to lose anymore!!! It's frustrating and depressing! Especially when I'm out trying to buy clothes that'll fit my ever expanding mid section. No I'm not pregnant but I sure look like it! And that is depressing, please give us the Ephedra back, please!

Any tips on losing weight without drugs?

Ephedrine still exists and you can get it legally at your local drug store. See Bronkaid or Vasopro.

Nope, you do need to provide your license though when you purchase it. You're also limited to a certain amount a day and a month, though I only need a box or two of the 60 count of Bronkaid a month and I'm way under the limit.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? Hair loss is a common symptom of thyroid problems, which could be the root of your problem. And since ephedra is especially dangerous for those with thyroid disease, you should really get this checked out before you go back on any diet stimulants.

I had talked to my regular physician about it before because there is a history of that in my family my mom suffers from i think hyper thyroidism. cant remember hypo or hyper but she has the same symptoms i do. but my doc said i checked out ok. she had put me on Adipex-p which was another god send i absolutely loved it but i no longer have health ins. thats why i want the ephedra. what could happen to me if i did have a thyroid problem now and took ephedra?

wow, I checked out hypothyroidism and it described me to a T! I just called docs office to see how much a visit would cost, about $140, that doesnt include all the lab work they would have to do. I really wish I had Insurance. I'm still gonna go in and see what happens. But my mom also has hypo thyroidism so maybe thats my problem.

You need to burn more calories than you take in so the first thing is check what you are eating. It also could be you are not getting in enough cardio work in. If you still feel you have to have ephedra there are many products that now contain it.

You're overweight, you're a smoker, AND you want to take ephedra? You're just begging for serious heart problems.

If you want to change your life instead of looking for a quick fix, then overhaul your diet, join a regular exercise program (one that provides more variety than Curves), and above all stop smoking. (Among dozens of other issues, smoking is associated with thyroid problems.) If your doctor prescribes thyroid hormone, fine, but don't think of that as the only change you need to make.

And above all, stay away from artificial stimulants, which cause more problems than they solve.

First things first, thank you Ted for being so blunt with me! I have been doing some research trying to find what diet and exercise regamine would be right for me. And so far I've come up with high protein and greens, matched with cardio work outs on top of my time at Curves, and also strength training. And definately quit smoking! I've also reconsidered the whole artificial stimulant thing. If i'm going to lose weight I want to be sure to do it the healthy way, that way when I am at my desired weight I'm not ill or unhealthy. Can't enjoy being thin if I'm sick. Also I need to eat more " I know it sounds funny but I rarely eat and that's probably another reason why I'm always sluggish, and can't lose any weight." So I will eat more through the day in small doses and make sure that they are healthy foods that I am Taking in. Hopefully I can start posting my weight losses! I hope, wish me luck! And Elly if this sounds like something you would also like to try, we can keep in touch and kind of be a support system for each other.

That sounds like a much better plan.

If you don't know whether you're getting enough nutrients, I'd recommend keeping a food diary, and plugging the information into one of those free websites that calculate nutrition and calories and tell you what you're missing.

Ephedra does damage to your kidneys. You are probably maintaining a lot of excess water weight if you take it in large quanities. I should know it added to the death of my mother. First you got to stop taking the drugs. The only way to lose weight that will stay off is to cut calories and exercise. As you lose the weight, you will find your energy levels will increase. Cut out all sodas and you will lose 10 pounds in a month. Instead of eating on a dinner plate eat on a salad plate. You have to change the way your brains processes things. Also if you purchase too many ephedra bottles, the government will begin to investigate you to ensure you are not manufacturing illegal drugs.
