i always thought if you excerise hard everyday you can eat whatever you want because you will work it right off. well that maynot be true.........
hi i am 30yrs. old with one child. i been exercising consistently for about 4yrs. i do agree sometimes change is good. However, i used to weigh 230lbs and i am little under 5'10. i workout and i have been for about 4yrs now. i had got down to 170 to 175. i have been running about 4mi a day because running is the quickest way to lose weight and its better than being indoors on treadmill. sometimes depending on the time i have available i will run 2 - 3mi. or 6mi. but most of time its 4mi. everyday during the week.
every winter i tend to pick up weight and this winter i am having more of a problem of getting my weight back down under 180. now it flunctuates from 185 to 190. i do understand during the winter it gets cold for us in the south so i don't run as hard as i would during the summer and plus you sweat more in the summer. my mom tells me i should change my diet during the winter and then when the summer comes around i can go back to just eating what i want. some people say that you cannot eat what you want and expect to lose weight but apparently i have been with no problem.
i really think i am gaining weight because of the change in weather and not being able to exercise as hard as i would like as during the summer. i kind of like to run because i feel that whatever i eat i can run it off and plus it keeps the metabolism up. i hoping that this summer as gets hotter and i continue to run that my weight will reduce back if not i am going to be very disappointed. people say i should change up my workout routine, which i do. i do taebo often on days that its either raining, cold or if i am just tired. primarily i always thought that running or jogging would be the most effective and quickest way to take off the weight and keep it off. also it makes your calves look AWESOME in heels.
I'm open for some advice. what is the problem is it just me or will i be gaining my weight back. i never want to be overweight again thats why i can run everyday. for the last few years i had not had a problem with keeping my weight between 170-175 sometimes 180 during the holidays but now i have increased to 185-190 and i still try to excerise whether its running my 4mi. or doing my taebo everyday..
please some advice. i want my ideal weight back regardless if i am tall and big boned lol....

It's not the weather making you gain weight. It's your reduction in exercise that's doing it. It you're trapped in the house due to lousy weather, you can get free workout videos online. ReplyFirst, you cannot eat whatever you want! You need to get that out of your head.
Second, you're 30 now, and yes that does make a difference. As we age, our body changes and those days of being able to eat whatever and whenever become a memory. Think about it, how many people do you know from years ago who were thin but who are now older and fat? Probably quite a few.
It's normal to pack on a few extra pounds during the winter months because we aren't outside as much. We tend to hibernate in a way, plus the winter months are when the best eating holidays happen, Halloween candy, Christmas, New Years, Easter. To compensate, you need to be aware more of what you eat and how much. Plus you need to spend extra time making up for the lack of daily exercise you aren't getting anymore during this cold season.
Fix you thinking about food before it's too late.
ReplyYou may be able to eat whatever you want and lose weight, but it's still not healthy. Running won't save your heart if you're clogging your arteries with a ton of saturated and trans fats!
I agree that you're probably just less active in the winter, like most people. Remember that you don't only burn calories when running - how often do you take your child to the park in the summer vs the winter? Go on a walk around the neighborhood? Walk to somewhere you need to go instead of drive? Little seasonal changes can add up.
ReplyThe only thing I notice is that when it is cooler it takes forever for me to start sweating during my workout. Sometimes I will almost be at the end before I break a sweat.
It may not matter caloriewise but I guess I get psyched up when I start sweating like I know I am accomplishing something.

Replythanks guys for the comments. i do have workout dvd's like taebo but i find that the more i do them the less i sweat. i guess because i do pretty much the same taebo dvd's that my body has gotten used to it. i am still jogging but you are right. during the winter if it rains i either do taebo or i might not excerise but lately i have been running throughout the winter. i think that because it is cold and i am not running as hard as i do during the spring and summer i may not be burning as much calories and i do sweat less during winter when i am running. i try to do different aearobics. just like my taebo dvd's when i first started doing them i was soaked from sweating now i donot start sweating alot til about 30mins. into the workout. it just seems to me that the quickest way to loose weight is to just run and get it over with. i am going to watch the foods i eat during those periods were i donot excerise much. i donot eat like a pig i just kind of eat what i want throughout the day and then workout during the evening and try to eat light at night. i eat whole lot healthier than before when i was overweight but now that i have my weight down and i pretty much excerise and do incorporate certain foods back into my lifestyle without indulging too much. i thank you all for the comments.
Take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D per day during the winter. This should mostly fix your problem.
ReplyNo, I don't think so. Weight gain or loss has nothing to do with the weather. It solely depends on the metabolism of your body. If you burn more calories than you eat, then you will not gain any weight even in winter season.
