I Want to Look Good for Prom

My prom is coming up in May, and i want to lose weight so i can look nice in my dress. i am 17 years old, 5'3", weighing 180lbs. I've tried dieting, but somehow once it hits the weekend i start eating a lot, and craving different things. i have also been thinking about buying some diet pills.

Can someone help me and tell me what i should do?

    Hello,
Since you have a goal and you also know your problem, then fix it and change your attitude about food. Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.

Try planning out exactly what you will eat over the weekend ahead of time. Then when cravings hit, just remind yourself that you have already planned to eat a certain thing at a certain time, and make yourself wait until then. Try to distract yourself by going for a walk or reading a book until food time comes around.

    Hi Fat Girl !

If you live in the New York Area you can get the help you need from Personal Training Institute. They have programs that will fit your budget and tme schedule. With this company not only do you have an exercise trainer but you also meet with a nutrionist regularly to help you meal plan. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change with healthy eating choices that they will tailor to your needs and see you through. With 90 days till your prom I would bet you will see some results and your attitude and outlook on life would be positive. No More Fat Girl !!! You can do it !!!!!

I actually just started Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating! My friend's mom has been on it a couple years, and she lost a LOT of weight. I had the same issue as you- always eating a lot on the weekends, especially when my friends would order pizzas and stuff. I've been bringing one of their meals with me and eating that instead- which isn't bad at all. It's actually really yummy. I would start with the 2,000 calorie plan first and then move onto 1,800 in maybe a month or so. If you're like me, it's not easy going straight to the dieting.

I meant to say 1,200 calories instead of 1,800...and 1,200 calories would be better for losing weight anyway. I know it sounds like nothing, but you'd be surprised at how easy it is when you have the right things to eat sitting in front of you. It's been working well for me, so wish me luck in sticking to it!
    And good luck to you!!

Um, it's great that you want to "look great for Prom", but what about AFTER prom? Are you just going to go back to eating the way you used to eat again? I would strongly caution against using an event/occasion as a motivator for losing weight. Because if you don't lose as much as you want, you'll just beat yourself up over it. The best thing to do is to make small changes every week that you know you'll be able to stick with long-term....cut out caloric beverages, eat air popped popcorn instead of chips, etc. You may not lose AS much as you want for Prom, but you'll be on your way to looking great for the summer.

My whole family has had a lot of success with the Zone lifestyle. I lost 100 pounds with it and I've kept it off for many years. There's no deprivation involved, plenty to eat, and it's designed to prevent cravings by keeping you blood sugar stable. My son, now college age, has grown up eating "in the Zone" and as a result, and he's never been overweight. He finds it easy to eat in the Zone wherever he happenes to be eating.

    Good luck to you!
