I always sit back at this time of year with a sense of anticipation - what new and wonderful diets will be offered to the ever gullible and desperate ground of people who still haven't discovered that fad diets are only helping them diet themselves fatter. And last night I saw one that I think is really going to be a hit.
Seriously - it's called the (wait for it .... drumroll... and I really am not making this up) Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet!
Now if you could read the fine print flashed across the screen in a flash which only a speed reader could read I'm not quite sure what you'd find it said (no doubt some disclaimer or something about so long as you're only eating a very low calorie diet) but the point is you can't read any of them - and there were at least two I saw flash up and instantly disappear.
But drive-thru? Hey that's really helpful when it comes to losing weight (wonder if one of those disclaimers don't tell you that you actually need to exercise to achieve the weight loss their model apparently did). And oh...what do we do with those salivating tastebuds as that little packet is handed through the drive-thru window and those smells hit our car? Wolf it down and drive through the drive thru again?
But lucky thing... the model did say (more than once) that her "results weren't typical." Now on that score, I'm willing to bet she's right. You just have to love this time of the year - it's so inventive!!!!

We call Taco Bell "Taco Hell" around here...it's notorious for giving people raging diarrhea. If that's what the diet entails, I could see it causing some weight loss. Just not the kind you'd necessarily hope for.
Replytaco bell has had that fresca (sp) menu for some time now and it's not bad, low-cal. taste good and healthy, maybe you should check it out before you knock them. I don't own a Taco Bell or work for one either. hasta la vesta baby !!
ReplyNice Jimmy, you took the words right out of my fingers.
The Fresco menu has been around for some time, and basically it is just replacing any dairy or fat based sauce, such as guacamole with fresco salsa which is just diced tomatos, onions, spices and such.
I actually have seen the fresco menu recomended by dietitians in fitness magazines like "Shape" 2-3 years ago.
But if you need to mindlessly rant about "evil" fast food just because it is fast food OP....
ReplyCheck out the sodium content in the fresco-style items.
ReplyThanks Bob. Personally sodium isn't of the utmost concern to me right now. I am a former food addict who is trying to get the most flavor out of a healthier (not healthiest) diet so that I can be healthier than I used to be without going stir-crazy.
ReplyNow everything containing 500 calories or less is considered a diet. Its just Taco Bells way of getting in some business, because sales have shown that anything with words " DIET" on it, sells better than stuff without the magic word "DIET"
