I am super picky, I dont like tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, celery, red-green-orange peppers, you name it, i dont like it! I need help! And with all my raw veggies, i need a dipping sauce like ranch etc! I need to lose the weight but I eat like a kid! Any ideas how to incorporate the things I dont like into what I eat, so I can eventually like them?!

Well, what veggies DO you like?
ReplyFigure out some things you DO like and work out from there. So you don't like mushrooms or onions -- what about carrots or spinach or broccoli? Sometimes people don't like a food raw, but love it cooked or vice versa. If you love to dip your veggies, look for healthier alternatives to dressing. (Hummus, maybe?) I don't think you have to eat things you don't like to be healthy, you just have to be open to trying different healthy alternatives to see what you like that's better than what you've been eating! ;)
ReplyA lot of people are able to eat foods when they are masked by other flavors. You don't like tomatoes, but do you like marinara sauce or salsa? How about tomato soup? And, as the other commenters have said, it's important to figure out what you DO like and work from there. Do you like carrots? Squash? Eggs? Fruits? Concentrate on eating things you like first.
ReplyWhen I get a craving for raw veggies and ranch, I mix up some plain nonfat yogurt with Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix...gives me the ranch flavor, and the protein from the yogurt keeps me from being hungry ten minutes later. Just a suggestion as far as the ranch dressing dilemma (regular ranch is loaded with fat).
ReplyExperiment with different ways of cooking things. Roasted peppers taste very different from raw peppers for instance.
As others have said, try "hiding" veggies in something else. Chopped tomatoes can go in almost anything (like bolognaise or lasagne). I don't like bananas, but I'm perfectly happy eating them in the form of low-fat banana muffins!
How old are you? (Hope you don't mind me asking.) I was incredibly picky up until the age of 18/19, but when I went to university I began to try more and more different foods ... and now I'll eat most things! Your tastes may still be developing: I hated mushrooms as a kid, but I absolutely adore them now. So don't be afraid to "re-try" foods which you think you dislike.
ReplyHow are old are you? Eating all these veggies can't kill but it gives you vitamins & energy. You should take time to study all these veggies of what benefits it can give to you.
ReplyI used to be the same way- then I moved to Korea. There are still some things I won't touch (like anything pickled for instance), but having a bunch of kindergarteners ask me why I wasn't eating something everyday made me eat just a little (think one bite). Now I'm beginning to like some of those things. Also, try different recipes. Find some recipes from different countries and cultures and you are likely to find ways to cook things that you will find very tasty.
ReplySelf discipline. Try to eat the veggies you don't like. It's a challenge to yourself.
