Cookie Diet and Starving!

Vote 0 Votes

I just started the Dr. Siegal's cookie diet today Nov 7, 2009. I ate 2 for lunch waiting 15-20 minutes drinking water. I drink a lot of water and I am still hungry!! I ate an apple which I read somewhere he doesn't like you to do, then at 2:00 ate another cookie cause I was soo hungry.

I have to make sure I don't stay hungry for long because I can get a migraine headache. Has anyone had this problem? I really wanted this to work, to take weight off quickly before Thanksgiving, but now I am already getting discouraged. :( HELP!!

  • Hi, Kolleen,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having migraine: I suffer from frequent and severe ones myself (and in fact am unable to work at the moment). "Skipping meals" - or more generally increasing the time between eating - is a known trigger for migraine in some people (Source: Dr. MacGregor, Anne. 2005. Understanding Migraine & Other Headaches. The British Medical Association, Family Doctor Series.)

I'd suggest changing what you would normally eat to things with lower saturated fat, calorie and possibly carbohydrate level instead and seeing how you get on. Also increase the amount you exercise if possible.

BTW, I keep a detailed blog/website on the science of migraine (and related disorder): www.porillion.wordpress.com

    Take Care.

#1 - stop the bullshit cookie diet
#2 - start eating meat and cut your carbs
    #3 - exercise 30 mins a day without fail
#4 - stop watching Dr. Phil and go learn something

I'm with ArrowSmith--cookie diets are BS. Do you seriously think you can survive on 6 overly-processed, fake-tasting, nasty cookies a day for the rest of your life? If not, then you shouldn't be on that diet. It sounds like whatever this diet is, it's pure misery for you which means you will go off of it once you lose your 10/15/20 lbs, etc. and then you'll gain the weight back.

You need to eat real food so you aren't starving...lean meat, veggies (to add bulk to your diet so you don't feel like you're starving), fresh fruit, eggs, whole grains, and lots of water. Trust me, if you eat foods that are high in fiber and water content, you will not be hungry and you won't get migraines.

Fat diets like this cookie diet don't really work very well, and you're just experiencing what so many others have. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat a healthy diet and get moving and exercise every day. You need to eat some good, healthy food so you'll feel satisfied.

  • Hi Kolleen,

I usually tend to feel sluggish and get a headache (not a migraine though) when I am hungry or skip a meal. However i'm not experiencing that on the cookie diet. I've been on the diet for a few weeks now and there are good days and better days. Most days I never feel hungry at all. As a matter of fact I feel great. I can't believe it. But occasionally I do get a hungry day, however that's nothing new for me.

When I get a hungry day I eat some celery or tuna fish or something that is not sweet but is healthly. That works and it does not hurt my weight loss.

I only have good things to say so far. I do not think the 'fad' argument makes sense. I gained too much weight. I need to take it off. I have to use temporary measures to lower my calorie intake. This is my temporary measure. It's very very easy to do, especially if you work outside the home.

Good luck to you. If you, or anyone else, would like a $10 off coupon for the cookiediet website email me at lvdatenights@yahoo.com

  • I was able to find Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet on Twitter (http://twitter.com/CookieDietDr) and they're good about answering any questions I tweet to them. Might be a helpful resource or just to get some support!

Best part - they announce promos and discounts!
