Hi all!
I have started the South Beach diet today, I am hoping to lose 15lbs! I am getting married in June in Mexico and hoping to be slimmed down by then.
My stats:
Height: 5ft9
Weight: 138
Goal weight: 123-125lbs
I have found great recipes for phase one on a website called Kalyn's Kitchen, I am hoping they are indeed South Beach friendly!
So, I am looking for someone else who is on the South Beach diet, so we can use each other as motivation, share recipes etc....
Is there anyone out there who wants to be my South Beach buddy??

I don't want to come across as too much of a downer but have you set realistic goals for yourself? Realizing that BMI measurements are rough, you are currently at a BMI of 20.4 which is on the low side of the bell curve of normal and are seeking a weight that comes in at a BMI of 18.5 which is at the absolute bottom edge of normal. Unless you are of very slight frame this is not only very difficult to achieve but impossible to maintain.
With 9 months to work with, might a personal training program to get the bikini look that you're after be a better choice than focusing on the scale?
ReplyI have to agree with moddoctor. I think your motivation to look slim at your wedding is great! But you're already a pretty skinny girl if your 138 pounds and 5'9"!! I would recommend firming up rather than losing weight. It makes you look very lean and firm and it won't make you drop into the underweight danger zone. Trust me, I wish I had focused more on firming up for my wedding than losing weight. Toned arms look FABULOUS in a wedding dress! Good luck!!

Great! I''m happy I found a SBB! Well I am officially restartng the diet tomorrow because it was thanksgiving dinner today and well...lets just say not too southbeach friendly!
Tomorrow is a fresh start! I have my fridge stocked up with all phase one foods, all my sweets have been tossed out! I am ready! I'm hoping to lose something by two weeks...I have my first wedding dress shopping exersion!!!
What is your plan? How long have you been following the diet?

ReplyI am reading up on SBD and I am very excited! I have four children and weigh 230 at 5'4, I am 29 years old...my younger brother (27) just passed away July 4th from a massive heart attack he weighed 183 pound at was 5'11 very healthy active young man but he had cholestorol in the 500's - mine is not that high but I don't want my husband and children to have to bury me too.. his death has motivated me...I want to do this for me, for them, and for him. I loved him so much and I miss him, he was always encouraging me to lose weight...now I am going to do it!!! I would love to be SBD buddies with ya'll too!! I need the encourgement now that he is gone.
