On a Quest to Lose Weight

Hi everyone,

My name is Jennifer, I'm 20, going on to 21. I am on a quest to lose weight.
At this very moment I am 190 pounds. I have lost 10 lbs since the last time I weighed myself. My goal is to go down to 130 lbs before I turn 23.

My routine consists of going to the gym three times out of the week, with regular diet. But, I'm looking into different ways to lose weight to see what works best for me.

Hopefully things will go well. Good luck to everyone in reaching their goal.

What is your diet? What do you do at the gym. We need more details to help you.

I suggest the Gabriel Method book and the nevereverdiet.com guided audio meditations. They will help with whatever else you are doing. I know they work on their own.

Nevereverdiet was running a free tester program not long ago. Worth asking them if it is still going.

    Love
    Marie

I'm on The Five Bite Diet. You can Google it...there's a support forum right on this site! I started August 10 at 176 lbs hoping to lose 40-45 lbs. I'm 5'4"1/2. Today I'm at 152. The rules of the diet are:

    Do not eat breakfast.
    Do not snack.
Eat five bites of food for lunch.
Eat five bites of food for dinner.
Eat at least one bite of protein a day.
    Take a multivitamin every day.
Drink only water, diet (or no-calorie) drinks, coffee, or tea (without sugar).

It works very well for everyone I know on the forum if they stay on it.

You've got to be kidding! This is like the definition of a starvation diet at a POW camp. Your metabolism has to be at rock bottom by now and your muscles must surely be wasting away! Of course you're losing plenty of weight, but good luck keeping it off and good luck walking up a flight of stairs without growing faint.

When you go to the gym, the most effective thing to do is RUN - just like the wind, and build up your endurance and challenge yourself every time. Not only will you burn a lot of calories, but you will also build leg muscles that will allow you to burn more calories at rest. For the same reason, after running, head to the weight room and work out your arms, abs, and legs. As far as your diet, that should be three meals a day, one of the meals being just salad, the other being some low-calories grains for breakfast, such as cereal or oatmeal, and the third being more hearty, incorporating rice and meat. That should be a good nutritional balance and therefore make your metabolism faster. And to make sure your cravings don't go crazy, eat two little pieces of chocolate a day - any type of chocolate you want - as long as its two little pieces. That should keep the cravings stabilized. I would give this advice to anyone. I'm 18 and weigh 113 pounds, but when I was 13 I weighed 130. I was on a downward spiral until I started going to the gym for an hour a day - and yes, an hour a day. It's gonna be tough but keep your goal in mind and don't go too low-calorie because otherwise your body will turn everything you do eat into fat. Keep it in the range of 1000-1500 a day. Hope this helps!

I would stay away from starvation diets like The Five Bite Diet. The key is healthy weight loss of 2 to 3 lbs a week combined with exercise. Build up fitness with cardio to begin, but add weight training as soon as possible. Try to do a full body workout with compound weights. That will help to reduce the time in the gym while getting all the benefits. Good luck.

Good start Jennifer! I've had fantastic results with the Zone. I lost 100 pounds and have maintained it. I've been eating 'in the Zone' for almost 15 years. My whole family eats this way and loves it. It's very easy, just everyday food, and you're never hungry. Good luck!

I'm currently having 6 very small meals a day each containing about 25g of protein. This seems to keep me fuller for longer and stops me snacking.
