It's time to lose the weight! My name is Sharolyn Waite (Waite pronounced "weight." The joke is I gained "Waite" when I got married). I've had several signs that it has been time to lose the weight but the scariest one came when I had a hard time breathing while sitting, just sitting!
I am Polynesian, and by nature a big girl. I'm 25, 5'11" and currently 256 lbs. I grew up very active in sports. At the end of my senior year basketball season the doctors found a tumor in my shooting wrist and I was heartbroken. I had already been accepted to the University with a basketball scholarship. I stopped caring and started staying home more and eating more. In my family, everything revolves around food, family get-togethers, short visits, or just sitting and watching a TV show. There is always a bowl of snacks waiting for me.
Now weighing more than I have in my life, I am really assessing my health and my standard of living. I don't want to get any bigger and I don't want to suffer any of the effects of being more obese than I am. Starting now, I am going to be accountable for my decisions and my weight loss.
Starting Monday, April 20, I am going to post my actual weight, measurements, and progress. I know that you can already get this from Biggest Loser but I don't have the world class trainers, 24 hours to go to the gym, and a personalized diet; so, it just might be more realistic. I plan to put everything I do on my blog so anyone can track my progress. Wish me luck!
