Oprah's Chocolate Set: Bad Taste?

Oprah Winfrey rebuilt her entire on-stage set in Godiva chocolate.

The set consisted of a grandfather clock, table, books, chess set, fireplace and a vase of flowers (all made of chocolate) and was created with 7,000 Godiva bars and 2,400 truffles over the course of 1,400 hours. There was also a chocolate chandelier made from 1,500 pieces of chocolate. (source)

Do You Want an Hourglass Figure?

NY Mag

There is a strange dichotomy in the fashion world. Very lean high-fashion models regularly get called 'fat', yet we also laud hourglass figures on the cover of magazines.

Madmen actress Christina Hendricks talks about body shape in New York magazine - in particular how her figure has been discussed more than her acting ability.

Anytime someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body!"

Campbell's Soup Low Calorie Commercials: What Do You Think?

My favorite lunch -- a bowl of romaine lettuce topped with chopped apple, grapes, cucumber, tomato, avocado, and either chopped walnuts or sliced almonds.

Sometimes, I'll get a little crazy and throw in a few dried cranberries! And, I top it all off with a very small splurge of my most beloved poppyseed dressing. (Briana's, if you're wondering.)

It's chock full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber, healthy fats, protein, and, oh yeah, about 400 calories of metabolic fuel.

Can a Beer Company Tell Us How to Get Healthy?

In environmental speak, it's called greenwashing - taking an existing product and spinning its environmentally-friendly virtues - even if there are none.

In the food world we often get marketers claiming unsubstantiated health benefits, or taking a food product and wrapping it up with a get fit message that seems incongruous with the product.

Last week I was sent a health resolutions booklet from Anheuser-Busch. This really confused me as Anheuser-Busch is basically a beer company.

Is anyone else tired of this kind of marketing?

Why Should This Photo Incite Fat-Hatred...?

This photo was (apparently) snapped by an American Airlines flight attendant. Amazing what responses the photo invokes.

Fuel to the fire of the ongoing debate on obese airline passengers, and how much they should be paying.

This might be a photo - but it is an image of a real living person, with thoughts, feelings, and a soul. Just remember that if you want to get vicious and personal.
