How Good Are VitaminWater 10's New Flavors?
I'm not one for magic potions, pills or elixirs. So, when I was asked to review VitaminWater 10's four new flavors, I had my doubts.
VitaminWater, endorsed by celebrities like rapper 50 Cent and New York Met David Wright, is widely popular. But, does it live up to the hype?
No, not really! There's nothing special about VitaminWater 10, or its four new flavors.
The new varieties are: "Go-Go," mixed berry (E + Ribose); "Recoup," peach-mandarin (B3, B5, B6, B12); "Mega-C," grape raspberry (C+ Zinc); and "Revitalize," green tea (C + EGCG). Lots of hocus pocus!
Let's start with the actual flavor. All three, Go-Go, Recoup, and Revitalize, taste the same. There's very little difference between them. They all have a fruity taste, but nothing spectacular. Plus, the Truvia is overpowering.
Revitalize, with its green tea flavor, is the only one that tastes different, but you're still stuck with the Truvia. Truvia, the natural sweetener made from the stevia plant, lasts in your mouth long after you've finished the drink.
As for all the special ingredients, I think they're a crafty way of impressing people and moving product. How would the everyday person know if Ribose or EFCG are actually working? They sound cool, but that's it.
Maybe I was the wrong guy to ask, I mostly drink water or fruit juice. But, I say better to get your vitamins from healthy foods, and just stick with H20.
Have you tried VitaminWater 10? What are your thoughts?
Note: Product samples were received from VitaminWater.

I am a fan of the regular Vitamin Water... I normally only drink normal H20, but sometimes I just crave something tasty and flavorful, and at least this has a little more nutritional value than Gatorade or soda (Vitamin Water is also amazing for hangovers!). I don't drink it because I think it will make me healthier; I just like it because it's delicious. I don't think there's anything wrong with drinking sugary beverages just as long as you keep it in low moderation.
I was very excited when I heard Vitamin 10 was coming out, since I prefer drinking low calorie beverages. It doesn't really taste like the regular Vitamin Water. The Truvia adds a very weird taste to it. I usually drink the orange flavor (Essential). The sole reason I keep drinking Vitamin Water 10 is because it only has a total of 25 calories, compared to 125 in the normal variety. If I wasn't trying to lose weight right now, I would drink the normal one... so much more tasty.
ReplyI prefer the original versions too. In fact, I can't stand the new low cal ones....they leave a terrible afer-taste.
ReplyGlaceau lost me after they added stuff to the original line introduced - water infused with flavors, no sweeteners or artificial sweeteners! Once they tinkered with that, I stopped buying.
ReplyI don't drink these types of waters. I drink plain H2O, I treat myself with the no calories flavored waters from the supermarket here & there & as for workouts, since I do a pretty hard core one, I do use Propel BUT I usually do half Propel & half water or maybe a bit more Propel to water..... that & my morn coffee!
ReplyI ussualy don't drink this stuff unless its the morning after a wild night at the bar (maybe 3 times a year). It is good as a replacement when your craving some fruity sugary fizzed up crap. :)
ReplyI don't know if it's funny or sad how completely brainwashed the "drinking water industry" (that alone is a wtf) has got the American people. Mountain water, spring water, mineral water, vitamin water, fitness water, come on it's the same crap that comes out of your tap for a fraction of a penny per gallon, and in some cases it is going directly from tap to bottle and sold for $15/gallon or more.
And yes, i'll admit I have bought water before as a matter of convenience. Grossly overpriced water is still a better choice than soda.
ReplyAs a registered dietitian, and a nutrition consultant for Vitaminwater and Vitaminwater10, I’d like to weigh into this conversation. I can tell you that from my perspective Vitaminwater10 has filled a much needed void. Many of my clients, or, more specifically, people who are calorie-conscious have had to sacrifice taste all these years for their low-calorie beverages. Vitaminwater10 is a great way for people looking for low-calorie options to receive hydration and nutrients they need everyday and/or have been lacking. This isn’t “hype,” each bottle of Vitaminwater10 contains at a very minimum: 25% of the daily value for four B vitamins (b3, b6, b5, b12), 100% of the daily value for vitamin C and added electrolytes calcium, magnesium and potassium. Actually, a clinical study recently published in the international journal of food sciences and nutrition validated that the vitamins in Vitaminwater power-c (dragonfruit) were absorbed by the body equally as well as those in traditional foods.
Most people have let nutrition take a backseat in their daily, on-the-go diets…convenience seems to come first these days. So, in addition to hydration plus nutrients, Vitaminwater10 is naturally flavored and sweetened, vegan friendly, ou kosher, preservative and sodium free. Taste is most certainly a personal preference, but, if you ask me, for millions who’ve been sacrificing it for “diet” beverages, Vitaminwater10 is a delicious, nutritious option to incorporate into their diet and I recommend it.
ReplyY'all could have simply re-introduced your original product - water infused with flavor - ZERO CALORIES! That stuff rocked!
ReplyJust catching up to say I miss your posts at Disease Proof. Sorry you aren't there anymore.
ReplyI only drink this stuff for the taste, and if I am hungover. I've never tried it for athletic purposes. I don't think it does anything different than something like Gatorade.
ReplyAfter reading the calories on the specialty waters.I will stick to water and it free.
ReplyI just recently tried the full calorie water and thought it was very good. I wanted to try the "Defense" and the "XXX" triple antioxidents, because I was trying not to come down sick. (My kids had the flu) I prefer plain water but this was a refreshing boost. I would buy them again but I like the full calorie vitamin water.
Replythink I will also stick with water.... I love it best anyway!!!!
ReplyI don't personally care much at all for VitaminWater. I've never wanted to support a company that paid millions of dollars to 50 Cent for his own product who even said it himself in his song "I took quarter water, sold it in bottles for 2 bucks and Coca-Cola came and bought it for billions, what the f**k?" I have no interest in supporting that venture for something that just tastes like watered down fruit juice. I'll just stick with my free tap water.
ReplyI really like the lemonade flavor and will try a few of
Replythe new flavors
I am not a fan of plain water, I have a hard time not throwing up from it believe or not, so when I tried the Vitamin Water I was ecstatic to get away from soda and some of the flavors are great. The 10 not so good, but my kids like the lemonade and orange flavors. I pour my vitamin water into a glass and put some plain water in just to drown out some of the sugar.
ReplyI think that I get all the vitamins I need from what I eat except perhaps B12 (near-vegan) and D (don't eat dairy, seafood, and probably don't get enough Sun in the winter). I don't really care if they put vitamins in the water.
I did like the previous vitamin waters but being on a diet I often couldn't afford the calories. I really like the taste of Vitaminwater10 but then again I've been using Stevia in oatmeal and occasionally tea for a long time so I'm probably more used to it than most. I like the Grape-Raspberry best but Peach-Mandarin is a close second. I wish they put in big letters on the label that the Citrus flavor has caffeine. I let my 6 year old daughter drink one without knowing and she was up all night.
