Jen4Men: Jenny Craig Goes Butch

I guess it was only a matter of time before one of the most popular diet companies on the planet went after the other gender.
Jen4Men™ has launched in Australia and New Zealand targeting men who find themselves fighting in the "battle of the bulge." Jenny Craig™ has a section for men on their USA based website, but for obvious reasons not many men would proudly proclaim they were on Jenny Craig to lose weight.
Whether Jenny Craig will launch this program world-wide is yet to be seen, but here is what Jen4Men has to offer the other gender.
Jen4Men Highlights
This new program uses successful concepts from the traditional Jenny Craig philosophy, but has tailored them for the male body and mind. The crux of Jen4Men is called Skillpower™ which consists of 3 main elements;
- A healthy relationship with food - portion control and moderation.
- An active lifestyle - gradually increases a man's activity level with a tailor made plan.
- A balanced approach to living - motivation, stress management, and self-care strategies.
Jen4men doesn't use a cookie cutter approach to weight loss, but they promise to build an individualized plan based on the unique needs and lifestyle of the man. The Jen4Men spokesperson is Ian Dickson (Dicko), a famous TV and Radio personality in Australia.
Jen4Men Program Costs
Men can sign up for 25AUD for three months, plus the optional cost of food through the Jenny Direct&trade program, where the food can be picked up at one of their 110 centers around Australia and New Zealand, or be home delivered.
Conclusions
I think more men would be inclined to sign up for Jen4Men than the standard Jenny Craig program, but the name still has a feminine connotation, so some men still might not be convinced.
Also, the men still have to use the Jenny Craig centers if they choose the in-person consultations and such. Expect to see men in hats and sunglasses entering the store, or perhaps Jen4Men will let men use the back door.
It will be interesting to see if this program takes off in the Southern Hemisphere, which will for certain send Jen4Men to the big league market in the USA.

Why not?! If the service helps men to lose weight and improve their health using the support of Jenny Craig I think that's great. I'm in Australia and haven't seen any advertsing yet. I'll be looking out for it.
ReplyTheir brand is synonymous with women's weight loss. I can't see men embracing this in droves, any more than they'd buy Lindsey Lohan brand cowboy boots.
ReplyOne of the programs is here in southern CA or I have seen ads for them.. not sure if it is Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem or what. They have famous men, sports guys, doing ads for it.
More money for the company for sure if they can pull in men. To each their own. If they need help & can't do it on their own. Some of the women programs are pretty low calorie so I would be curious to know more about the men's program.
ReplyHigh calorie diets for men only apply if they're engaged in big-time bodybuilding. Otherwise it's a self-defeating strategy. According to my current height and weight, I should be consuming 2400 calories/day just to maintain. However, if I did that I'd become severely overweight.
ReplyAs if Aussie blokes will give up their beer!
ReplyI think it's probably very similar to the regular JC meals, but they probably have more "manly" dishes on the menu, like pizza and buffalo wings and burgers and stuff. I'm sure it's not a whole lot higher in calories than the womens' version, but I don't think many men are going to sign up for it because it's so closely associated with Jenny Craig, which definitely has a feminine connotation.
