SNL's Casey Wilson Denies Being Fired Due to Her Weight
For some reason, people are mean to Casey Wilson. As a fan of Saturday Night Live, I could never figure that out. SNL might not have been the best format for her, and she wasn't always given the best roles, but she's one funny lady.
Casey showed grace this week when Lorne Michaels fired her from his show, sparking rumors that she was fired because she'd been asked to lose 30 pounds over the summer and either failed to, or refused.
Wilson quickly smacked those rumors down in classic funny-girl style. She told People magazine:
I had an amazing time on 'SNL,' and these rumors are completely untrue. And to clarify, the issue isn't that I'm too fat, it's that I'm too phat. Can I get a WHAT-WHAT!
Good for you Casey, for not letting the haters get you down.
Wilson is curvy, but she's far from fat. Michaels may or may not have fired her for her figure, but either way it's what everyone's talking about now.
Chris Farley was morbidly obese, a fact he worked into his comedy routine, and he was a star. Wilson can't fit into a size 4 and she's getting hate mail.
Does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture?

Yes I totally agree with you Bethany. Although I will say that Farley suffered too. masking himself in funny fat guy schtick his whole life and dying froma drug problem. But yes it is harder on women, but it is also getting better and we have entertainers like Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks to thank.
Funny how both of these ladies came to fame in a platform where audiences express their preference for an entertainer AND THEN the entertainment powers that be get a hold of them, instead of the big wigs telling us who should be a star based on looks.
ReplyI think she's really beautiful and doesn't look like she needs to lose any weight. People are crazy if they think this woman is overweight. I feel awful for her for even having to comment on this rumor in the first place.
ReplyOf course she will deny it because she still wants to work in Hollywood. She doesn't want to cause trouble.
ReplyI don't watch SNL so I don't know who this is but from the pic, she looks great to me. If what your post says is true, sounds like another double standard to me.
ReplyIt's sad that she feels like she has to defend her weight. Overweight men never have to do that; they can play the "funny fat guy" routine and people eat it up. Look at Kevin James...on his sitcom, he's the loveable doofus hubby with the smokin' hot wife who comes off as kind of a b*tch. Just once, I'd like to see a sitcom with a plus-sized comedienne married to a male underwear model. "Roseanne" was pretty good, but that show only worked because John Goodman was also fat. Hollywood definitely has a double standard.
