5 of the Worst Sandwiches in America

Some time ago, Gerry brought us the hamburgers and hotdogs of the apocalypse. Turns out there are also sandwiches of the apocalypse.

While I know that there are people who eat a foot-long sub all at once, it's not really a fair shake to compare a foot-long to six inch. If you cut them in half it's a matter one one to two hundred calories, which is in the range of just making a different choice and being able to take that into account within daily calories.

That's such a good point! On the vegetarian sandwich, if you cut that 12 inch in half, it's a difference of less than 100 calories! It's like they've said, instead of having two scoops of ice cream, have one - genius!

Honestly, these sandwiches aren't all that bad when compared to some of the stuff served at famous specialty stores in big cities. I don't even want to know the nutritional data in a pastrami sandwich in Brooklyn.

Portion control!

Plus, I still think I can make something better for less calories/fat/saturated fat. I understand the convenience of eating out BUT if you can make your own, go for it!

Yeah, it's not a fair comparison to compare a footlong sub to a 6 inch sub...you are automatically cutting it in half. So if you really want the meatball sub, get a 6", not a footlong!

My goodness. Every time I see these numbers I'm surprised. I don't know why, but I am!

For me, it's all about planning and research. These days, with the internet so accessible, it's easy to find out what's in your entree' before you get to the restaurant.

Even if it's a small mom & pop restaurant, you can find something that is similiar!

Who eats foot-long sandwiches anyways?

Ooh, I don't mind eating the foot-long Veggie Delite from Subway, though I only managed to do it once and that lasted me from 9am all the way till dinner at 8pm.

I know a couple of people who work for a Quizno's franchise. They recommend the Sammies, too. I'm willing to bet that a lot of the calories come from the dressings and sauces they put on.

C'mon Mike. Making food, any food, out to be some kind of monsterous boogie man is silly.

There's nothing wrong with eating any of these sandwiches from time to time.
