Smart Kids Start the Day With a Good Breakfast

Maybe little Billy ate paste in grade school, not because natural selection was thinning out the herd, but because he skipped breakfast.

Nutrition gurus insist school children of all ages perform better in class if they regularly eat breakfast, compared to children who don't.

And, surprise-surprise, it's up to the parents to provide a good breakfast for their kids.

Experts suggest a variety of foods, such as berries, whole wheat bagels and fruit juice. Notice, they did NOT suggest marshmallow cereals or pancakes and sausage on a stick. Jimmy Dean makes them. They're an abomination.

Eating a proper breakfast, combined with an overall healthy lifestyle, can also improve kids' memory, behavior, grades and attendance. It's certainly better than hopping them up on ADD pills!

Health officials say if parents can't provide breakfast for their children, they should look into school breakfast programs.

I think we all think, feel & do better starting our day with a good breakfast. I did not do that way back when. It is amazing how much better I started feeling when I did!

Yes, like all the other posts out there, parents need to take accountability for providing for the kids.

PS; Why does the above post keep showing up everywhere in comments???

I always ate breakfast as a kid. I don't remember ever skipping it. We always ate Cheerios or Raisin Bran or cornflakes with a banana sliced up on top or a bagel with cream cheese and a piece of fruit. Or oatmeal or cream of wheat in the winter. It definitely helps to keep you focused during the day, that's for sure.

With seven children at home, I make sure they all get a good healthy breakfast. Most of the time it's cereal or oatmeal, although I do make the occasional hot breakfast!

4 boiled eggs mashed up in 2 tbsp of butter. Just about the perfect breakfast.
