Microwave Powered by Your Computer
Cleary, a guy invented this. No woman would waste her time! It's called the "Beanzawave." A tiny portable microwave, that's powered off your laptop's USB port.
Heinz helped fund the prototype design, which stands just 7.4 inches tall, by 6.2 inches wide, and is 5.9 inches deep. It's the perfect size to re-nuke a cup of coffee for those late nights at the office.
However, the real scientific breakthrough is not in the size, but rather the microwave's use of mobile phone radio frequencies to heat and cook food inside and out.
But, the U.K. Microwave Association - apparently there is such a thing - are skeptical about the invention, saying the technology doesn't exist to make the prototype a reality.
Now here's the real killjoy. The price tag for the tiny microwave is roughly $165. Listen, you can get a full-size, digital microwave at Wal-Mart for $50.
When it comes to food, mankind has whipped up all sorts of whacky inventions, like a toaster that prints pictures on your bread and candy inspired by the toilet bowl.
Yeah, I think humans peeked with the wheel.

It's not actually powered by your computer - that's an inaccuracy from the original newspaper story, which has been spread around the 'net since then. It runs off batteries or the mains, with the USB cable just being used to control it from a widget on your PC. (Which makes sense - USB only provides 5v, which certainly isn't enough juice to run a microwave...)
ReplyMaybe someday we'll have little microwaves that can be plugged into a Blackberry or Iphone. Then we will sadly miss the days when riding the subway only meant being forced to listen to others' phone conversations, and now it's all about having a container of beans explode all over you from some idiot with a portable microwave.
ReplySomething else we just don't need!
ReplyNot sure I need this! I have enough stuff I need to get rid of already!
ReplyHey, think I should review this on my blog? ;)
ReplyLooks nuke-tastic.
