Diet Guard: The Snacking Savior?

dietguard01.jpg
Welcome to "Money Making 101".

Your assignment today class is to brainstorm and come up with a weight loss product that will change peoples lives........ No wait, forget that, just come up with a good marketing plan and use a product that's been around for years.

Here at Diet-Blog we are inundated with new products all the time by those who are hoping to snag some of the dollars in this billion dollar industry.

One such product caught my attention because of it's sheer simplicity and creative use of marketing.

Introducing the Diet Guard. This new product will be

the most revolutionary diet aid product to hit the market.

The marketers claim that this simple mouth guard will keep people from snacking through-out the day because it will be too annoying to remove it in order to snack. Now I know why I don't snack during the night when I have my teeth grinding guard in which looks just like this product!

I couldn't imagine wearing this all day long, but it could be comical at the office when wearers talk to everyone with a lisp all day.

If Diet Guard is the product you've been waiting for then it can be yours for just $49.95. However, It's recommended that the guard be replaced every 2-3 months, but I'm sure they'll be glad to auto ship and bill your credit card every three months to save you the hassle.

Diet Guard will probably make loads of money off of many desperate dieters and as with anything else those dieters will use the product for awhile seeing some results, but I think eventually this product will be put in the drawer along side the ear staple, the cellulite cream, the acai berry bills, the motivational tapes, the Sprinkles, and the diet gum.

Note: This product appears here because we thought it was entertaining. It is not a paid ad or placement or any such thing.

BAHAHA! Ahh... are you serious? If you really wanted to take this approach, you might as well buy a $10 mouth guard and let someone smack you in the face for coming up with such a ridiculous solution to a problem you are having based on poor choices you made in the past!

Well... something like that ;)

Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts on this one. Well every morning should start with a great laugh. Cheers.

Tee Hee! Listen, it sounds like a wonderful money making idea, but I'll pass on it if you don't mind! I don't fancy the dental bills because a few years down the track they found out that it did something to your teeth enamel. Who knows how much that could cost in addition to $49 every coupla months!

Geez, if you really need something like this, put a rubber band around your wrist and snap it every time you're tempted to snack. Do people really have that little self control?

No way! If you think something like this would help you, you need to find some self-control, somewhere.

I had something like this when I was in middle school...it was called a retainer. And yeah, it was a sort of a pain to eat when I had it in, so I took it out when I wanted to eat. How would this be any different? If you want to eat, take it out and eat. I don't see this being hugely profitable.

Very good way to make money. Everything advertised for diets is money making, not health. Just chant to yourself "you're not allowed to eat" over and over again. It is much cheaper, or print out a sign and put it all around the house.

I have a strip of silver duct tape that I will sell you for 9.99 - easy to use and cuts down not only on eating but also drinking. A side benefit is that is makes a room much more quiet as well!

if the stuff helps to keep folks away from what they would like to refrain from, then why not?

My name is Ellen and I am the one selling Dietguard. It is a product I have been working on for 2 years and It will work. The dietguard is custom made for the wearers mouth so the fit is very different from a nightguard. It does allow normal talking and drinking when in use. It is invisable and very thin. It is supposed to be used as an aid for those trying to lose weight by making them think before they snack. Of course you can take it out if you want to but it gives the dieter one more chance to talk themselves out of the snack.

The recommended replacement of 2 -3 month is only a recommendation and not necessarily always needed. It will depend on the use and wear of the dietguard.

Ellen, people who wear Invisalign braces like myself will tell you that we only eat more when we have our braces out. This does not create a caloric deficiency. And it certainly will lead to weight loss if you are sedentary for most of the day because they have to make up for their own laziness of not wanting to take the trays out every 2 hours. And people will also get too lazy to brush their teeth eventually so they will increase the risk of cavities. Plus, wearing plastic trays causes tooth discoloration. How will be people like being overweight with yellow teeth, then? I'm sorry, but this is another fad.

My night guard was custom fitted by my dentist so I don't see how its different.

The Dietguard is made much thinner and with a better fit so it allows you to talk and drink throughout the day. No one really knopws you are wearing it. The Dietguard doesn't interfere with any activities except eating. My husband has a custom fit nightguard, first it cost 300.00 and there is no way that would be invisible to anyone and he cannot talk well with it in because it is thick. Is yours like that or maybe you have a different type.
Like I said in an earlier response the Dietguard is more like the Invisalign than a nightguard.

you laugh, but there is truth to it. my partner has invisalign braces (which are clear plastic things that look just like the ones in the pictures) to straighten his teeth. he has to wear them 24/7 and every time he wants to eat, he has to remove them, then eat, then floss and brush and scrub the braces before he puts them back in. it's such a pain in the butt that he doesn't snack at all, just eats 3 meals a day and that is that. when he got them, i was like damn, that's what i need to stop eating all day!

I wear Invisalign; the new alternative to braces--the makers of Diet Guard have adapted their idea from this orthodontic treatment. I have not lost weight. I simply eat more when my 'guards' are out because I know it will be too annoying to take them out later.

Think about it.

But are you trying to lose weight? My Dietguard is made to be an aid for people trying to lose weight. I did wear invisaligns, that's where the idea came from. I was on Nutra systems at the same time and had a much easier time not eating between meals.

Hi again, Ellen. I am an athlete; I train for races and I strength train at least 5 times a week. So, staying fit is a very big part of me. I have not noticed any weight loss during my experience with Invisalign. But I can understand the concept for your product. My concern with the 'guards' are:

1) bad breath (due to bacteria build up on plastic in your mouth)

2) taking the trays out and eating more than your usual portion to make up for the 'inability' to snack later on.

3) keeping teeth soaked in plastic leads to tooth discoloration (that's why the invisalign treatment comes with free whitening at the end of the procedure)

4) are customers going to have to replace the guards every 2-3 weeks? because that's what we do with the braces?

The best way to reduce snacking is to suppress appetite ...the best (natural) way to suppress appetite is to drink water.

Water is absolutely a good appitite suppressor but a little more help never hurt either
