I thought LA Weight Loss is a big company with good reputation and they can at least give refund for service not rendered.
ReplyI guess the economic crunch has caught up with them too. They might need a bail out money.

About LA WEIGHT LOSS....
I paid about 700 using my card...when it closed...here are the steps i took...and it worked!
1.)call credit card company and explain the situation....tell them the company went bankrupt and that you want to file for a refund...
2.)wait some time, and the credit card company should credit your account...
(the key is that la weight loss will not choose to fight the refund because they are bankrupt, and you should be able to get the money back)
ReplyAmerican truth is so bad. I hope more people will be able to get back their money, but the fact that companies bankrupt remains.
But they do not worn people when they see the direction of the company.
ReplyI paid for LA Weight Loss long ago. I have the contract and everything. They gave me a fax number to fax my contract to for a refund MONTHS after my initial phone call. They never responded to my email I sent either. The fax number given to me does not work, so I cannot fax in the contract or anything. I want my money back. It's ridiculous. They did not even give me the courtesy of letting me know they were closing. They just started cutting hours back and then they were gone.
ReplyI joined LA WEIGHT LOSS in November in December they closed. I paid with my debit card $1249.00. September I was laid off from my job I couldn't afford to join but I done it anyway. I believed this diet would really work for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? If I can't get my money back I would at least like to have my LA LITES.
ReplyL A Weight Loss loser in more than one way. Lost the pounds but never received the rebate. Will try to go through the credit card company. Any chance of a class action suit against whom ever is responsible?
ReplyI joined LA Weightloss 2 yrs ago. It worked well for the first 3-4 months, but after that the weightloss was very slow. Got frustrated and took some time off. Went back again 6 months later and to my surprise they were having a "special" and reinstated all my weeks as long as I paid another $200 for more product (their new line of LA Meals). I went through this past summer and then got frustrated with the way the plan was not working as they said, 2-4 lbs per week, so I stopped going. When I went back this Dec '08 I found the center closed & all the centers I called were closed & found out they went out of business. I called my credit card company because I put $3000 over 2 yrs on my card for mostly LA Lites ($850 was for me & my husband to join). The dispute dept told me to write a letter, explain in detail & provide all the dates and payment amounts. The dispute dept rep said that there was a better than good chance I would get a credit back to my account.
ReplyI joined LA Weight Loss and after 3 months, I successfully lost 20 pounds. My goal weight was 26 pounds. It got to a point where I kept getting stuck at a certain weight. The counselors said that I "must be overeating" because I was doing so well the week before. However, I wasn't. I followed the diet like nobody's business. I would shop for food ahead of time and I would plan my meals out for the week. One of my favorite fruits is the banana so I always included that in my diet, and one of the counselors had even told me that I should not eat bananas anymore because they make you weigh more. When I couldn't lose weight still after that, I was told that it was because I was eating sandwiches all of the time. Then, they told me that I should wear the same clothes every time I went in, which I did, so that I could really, truly be weighed. It was a little difficult for me to really talk about it because I never had the same counselor on every visit but they all seemed to make me feel like it was my fault that I wasn't losing any more weight. And when I would go up a few ounces, I always felt like I had committed the worse crime in the world. I tried everything they suggested, and I believe I did the liquid diet as often as I could. It got to the point when I was paranoid about getting weighed every other day because I kept going back and forth in ounces, so I wouldn't even drink water in the morning for fear of gaining an ounce. A couple of my friends started noticing my neurotic behavior and pointed it out. I stopped going one day, and when I requested that they just deliver my LA Lites to me in the mail, they refused. I told them to keep it. They would keep calling me at my home phone and finally started calling my cell phone until I finally blew up at the receptionist and told her to leave me the F*** alone. My experience at LA Weight Loss started out quite positive, but ended really badly. I am now at a comfortable weight.
ReplyI joined LA Weight Loss back in February 2005 and lost 40 pounds by July. Nothing I had tried before had worked so well, so I was very happy with the program. Over time they kept revamping the program, and it seemed each program worked less and less for me, so eventually I just started following one of the old books I had (the gold program). As for weighing three times a week, that got to be troublesome because I would see the normal fluctuations on the scale and it would really bother me. So for two days out of the week I would stand on the scale backwards so I couldn't see the number; I'd only face it and see the number once a week. But after a while the going 3x a week really got to be old because of the time involved, and there was quite a turnover of counselors, and I got to the point that it wasn't helpful anymore to go in, but rather, harmful. So I decided to just do the program at home on my own and had better success in the long run when I'd been frustrated for a long time after my initial success. They obviously weren't real happy about me coming in for LA Lites when I wasn't coming in for counseling, but I'd paid for them and they were helpful, so I kept coming for them. I was told by the head counselor that I could continue to buy their products even after my program expired, so I did purchase the meals afterwards, but the LA Lites I had prepaid for were purchased when my program was still active. Finally sometime in 2008 I was told that the company was probably going to stop allowing people to pick up LA Lites if they were no longer a current member. I made a comment about how they'd have a legal battle on their hands, then -- but worded it nicer than that. I really wish I'd just taken the rest of my Lites at that time, but I didn't because they do have expiration dates. Well, then in early 2009 I came to get more of my prepaid Lites and found that the center had closed. I didn't get around to trying to contact the company until today, through their website. I tried every phone number on there and every option it gave you, but only got recordings saying to contact my local center or send the home office an e-mail. I only saw after getting on this website here that the company apparently shut down completely, going bankrupt, and it sounds like many, many people were left in even worse shape than me. It's sad and frustrating to see that happen, but I have been continuing to follow the program even without the LA Lites for a little while now, and although it was kind of tough at first, that part of it was almost a blessing in disguise, because I had started to depend on the Lites way too much to get me through the day. Good luck to all of you in whatever you choose to do. Losing weight is no easy task, and when you dump money into a company that you think is going to help you and then they go under, it just makes it that much harder. But don't give up -- believe in yourself.
