I need new workout gear because I am married to a cheapskate who hates exercising and believes that an old Walmart bag is perfectly fine for transporting shoes and gear around. He also believes that my workout gear from 5 years ago, including my stretched out sports bra, is "fine", since it isn't full of holes and/or see-through yet. Oh yeah, I tried buying new stuff when he wasn't looking and he took it back. Yeah...you could say we have different spending priorities.

I need no workout gear because nothing motivates me to do something more than a new widget/gadget. When I get a new cell phone, my minutes increase, when I get a new car, I go visit grandparents in a different state.

If I had a pedometer I would walk all over the US and dominate those beach trekkers.

I need new workout gear because the last good stuff I owned was when I played high school soccer in 1967. Having been an inert blob for most of the intervening years, I received the kind of wake-up call that could have been a go-to-sleep (permanently) call about nine months ago. With three stents in my chest and a new lease on life, I have been making the life-style changes I need to. I now exercise regularly (two mile walk-run six days a week) and am VERY careful about what I eat. I have lost 35 pounds since last July and feel great. This has all been done with cheap, ratty gear from WalMart or discount shoe stores. I deserve a little something for my persistence and commitment. Also, I get a lot of help and encouragement from Diet Blog. (That last sentence was a shameless attempt to gain and advantage in the contest by flattery, but it is also true.)

I need new workout gear because I'm about to graduate from college, and it will make running away from school just that much more comfortable :D

I need new work out gear because I have yet to purchase one. I haven't a work out bag or a pedometer.. and the shoes I use are a "hand-me-down" from a friend of mine... so, I'm assuming that receiving the appropriate gear would be quite blissful and more motivating than ever.

I need new workout gear because I am a grad student and can only really afford rent and food (and barely at that, sometimes). New workout gear isn't really an option. When it comes to getting new clothes in general, it happens at most once a year, and usually in the form of Christmas presents from my parents, so my "workout gear" is mostly just really old t-shirts or stuff that I've had since college or (yikes) high school. I spend a lot of time running outside, going to the gym, and hiking, so clothes that I've worked out in constitute a fair percentage of my laundry pile. It'd be nice if some of them weren't the same clothes I worked out in ten years ago. :)

I need new workout gear because I have had the same old shabby stuff for more years than I can remember -- offering zero support up top and sporting holes in the bottoms. Yet I'm too cheap to invest in new, quality gear.

I've turned over a new exercise leaf for the umpteempth time and have been hoping to get new workout gear to motivate and inspire me. There's nothing worse than considering a workout, then bailing because my workout gear consists of spandex that barely has any elastic left in it and a huger than huge t-shirt that covers everything up. Blech!

I would love to have the gear you're offering and have been wanting to get a decent pedometer for over a year now. Somehow the one I scammed off my kids from the box of Frosted Flakes isn't quite cutting it!

Oh yeah, and I wear sneakers until they are basically falling apart because I'm too cheap to buy new ones. Those beach trekkers would be perfect for our beachy vacation :)

I need new workout clothes because I need an extra push towards exercising more often. The better I feel in the clothes, the more likely I'll want to go out and do something!

I need new workout gear because it will help motivate my (crazy) efforts. I have been going to Weight Watchers for the last 7 weeks (have lost 9 pounds total, yay me!) and am also doing the BodyForLife training regimen to tone my physique.
Today was Day 1 of an 84-day challenge that I've embarked on! :-)
I seem to be eating, drinking, sleeping and breathing my new lifestyle. It is all-encompassing.

Thank You

I need new workout gear because I'm still succeeding in my New Year's Resolution... to undertake 1 change each month towards a healthier lifestyle. In January, I started taking vitamins and fish oil. February, I gave up soda and artificial sweeteners. This month, I have been waking up an hour earlier to exercise. New workout gear will help me keep this exercise habit rolling while I move into April's habit of improving my diet!

PS - Please :)

I need new work out gear because now that baseball season has started, I need to get in shape by the trade deadline so I can live my life-long dream of being a big league ball player as well as my newer dream of being a steroid-free role model for the youth of the World

I need new workout gear because I have trouble finding comfortable, non-restrictive workout wear in my size and I know that Lands' End makes gear that will stand not only the test of time, but the test of my size 11 foot pounding the pavement.

I need new workout gear because I am an overweight politician who must run from re-election in November 2008. By winning new workout gear as opposed to buying new workout gear I show the electorate that I am fiscally conservative and not apt to spend their tax money unwisely, plus, I am safeguarding the environment by not driving to a store to buy the gear, thereby lowering my carbon footprint and helping our economy by potentially injuring myself in my new exercise program providing growth in jobs in the medical sector. That's what we in the political world call a "win, win, win"

Thank you and God Bless America

I need new workout gear for my husband. He keeps his racquetball gear in his car because it doesn't fit into his gym locker. His gym bag is so stinky, my kids and I refuse to ride in the car with him. He brings his clothes in everyday to be washed, but the smell still remains in his car. We are really proud of him because he is 50 years old and plays racquetball everyday with guys half his age and wins. He is quite an inspiration to my myself and my children. It would be great to give him a new bag. Thanks, Tina

I need new workout gear because I got asked if it was 'laundry day' when I was dressed to go workout at my apt. complex fitness room! Apparently, my 'workout attire' is something one would only wear when nothing else is clean!

I need new workout gear because I want to be able to bounce through the park or the gym, skip and flip around with that feeling of joy that comes from being properly kitted up.

I want to feel like a pro and just as every superspy, superhero or jumping super ninja needs sweet equipment, if I want to step into my super suit, I need me a change of clothes that will transform me from mild mannered study bound lady to a speed-streak super-freak leaping-tall-buildings-in-a-single-bound kind of deal for when I run my first marathon in less than a month!

I need new workout gear because I am the mother of 2 fabulous daughters and I want them to understand that fitness is something to celebrate, not relegate to the back of the closet.

I hope they see their mom as a role model for healthy living -- exciting adventures and curiosity about "what else can I do?" If they see me enjoying my time at the gym, on the trails and hiking with them -- they will know that they can be strong, feminine and funny everyday!!!

I need new workout gear because after years of not doing anything, and knowing full well that diabetes is on the horizon for me (every member of my father's side of the family, skinny or not has it), I have finally joined a gym and am hoping to make this a part of my life.

In doing this I realized I have nothing in my closet that is vaguely reasonable for this endeavour.

I need new workout gear because after getting my herniated discs treated. I can now excercise. I have lost 25 lbs so far this year and want to serve as an inspiration to my two girls and their friends, that no matter how long you've put something off, you can still make and achieve your goals. I've already gotten my degree and my master's... now it's time to focus on my health.

I need new workout gear because I'm finally out from College and noticed that I gained around 35 lbs in the last 5 years. I have diabetes history in the family, so I'm really worried. I want to exercise, but not in a gym.

What I need to motivate myself is a change; new workout gear seems a great excuse to start !!!!!

I need new workout gear because I am a college freshmen who is desperately trying to keep the Freshmen 15 from occurring. I don't have a real exercise bag so I use a Liberty House bag and I wear PE t-shirts from middle school as well as the free, gigantic shirts I've received over the years. The bottom of my shoes have also started to lose their grip.

I need new workout gear because what I have now is worn out, and the start of spring means the start of lots of outdoor exercise and activity. All I have now is a pair of sneakers, which are adequate but beginning to show strain.

It's so difficult, because I can't afford good, quality gear, so I just use what I have until it breaks down. My previous shoes when to the graveyard sole-less, because I didn't get new ones until the old had outlived their usefulness as shoes. The 'new' ones are only a couple months away from a similar fate.

I have no bag, and no pedometer (I tried a cheapish one in the past and it did not work after a week). My clothes are whatever I'm wearing when I put my sneakers on.

Gear or no, I'll still get out there, but it would be wonderful to have 'proper' equipment.

I believe a pedometor would help me get through these last 10-15 lbs I need to lose, from all the articles I have read it can really help. I have lost 15 so far and find it very difficult to do without exercising. I have a pretty active on my feet job, and after a long day and my feet hurt the last thing I want to do is go pound the pavement! And equipment can be a make or brake factor in the sense of pain from uncomfortable bag or shoes.
I love to walk outdoors mainly because it's free. Just step out the door and go! Everyone should be rewarded for exercising. It can be tedious or fun, but outdoors is the best.

I need new workout gear because I have learned a hard lesson about needing proper gear in hot and humid south Florida. I may be short on money but I am not short on passion and determination. I am now a fixture in my community wearing my ragtag outfits and using the park as my personal gym. Thankfully they were thoughtful enough to put in several cement benches that are much cheaper then the stair master. I know every shop owner and dog walker in the neighborhood.
I have been setting aside a small amount each week so that I could afford new gear when I reached my goal weight. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I reached my goal weight before I could save up enough. I am having difficulty staying motivated enough to lose the last 20 pounds. My "gear" is literally falling apart. So much sweat and constant washing will easily do that to things not meant for it. I have started to do more indoor exercises that are much less effective but do not require decent clothing. I would greatly appreciate the gear and I can promise it would be put to good use. I would gladly send a before and after picture so that I can hopefully motivate others. Thank you for your consideration and for doing this. I am glad to see a company that wants to help people further their goals.

I need new workout gear because I have held strong to my goal of making a new me this year and recently just added the goal of training for a marathon - which is a huge feat because I have never been able to run for 26 minutes let alone 26 miles. But with the new goal, I want something to track it, new shoes to train in, clothing to run in, and something to tote it together with. My only catch is that I broke and can't afford it now.

Regardless, this is awesome that you are offering this.

I need new workout gear because over the past 18 months I have lost over 70 pounds and have changed my lifestyle to a much more healthy one such that new workout gear will be used and greatly appreciated. I am 5'2" and have gone from 192 pounds down to just under 120 pounds. I have changed my eating habits for the better while never considering myself on a "diet". I exercise every day... I am at the gym at 5am each weekday morning doing either cardio or strengh training (with a trainer) and on Saturday and Sunday I do both cardio and strength training with Sunday including a 9.5 mile walk around a beautiful local lake before my gym session. And believe it or not, just this past weekend, I donated lots of old clothing that no longer fits, including workout clothes purchased a year ago, so my closet has plenty of space for some new workout gear.

"I need new workout gear because..."
I'm graduating from law school in 2 months and I'm going to have an entire summer to spend enjoying the outdoors and being as active as possible before being relegated to a life of corporate drudgery. I want to make the most of this time and really focus on how much I love living in the Northwest, and all the outdoor activities it lends itself to.
Also, my dog would be forever grateful for any motivation given to me to put down the books and take her on a hike.
Thank you Lands' End for your amazing products and generosity!

I need new workout gear because the change of womanhood has been so polite in giving me those extra 20 + pounds that I cannot seem to lose. I enjoy walking and running and every now and then get on the treadmill. I would even like to participate in a marathon. But when I get home, I don't want to leave. So I sit on the couch and read, or sit in front of the computer and surf...not much physical activity going on to get rid of the weight. But if I have a snazzy new bag to keep my workout clothes in, I will change at work and go directly to the gym in which I have a current membership. My husband is always going and asking me if I want to go with him, of course I decline. We had a bet to lose 10 pounds by my birthday in April....it just won't go away as I sit and meditate. My husband also has the same issue....adulthood has given him the waist...he works out like crazy but it won't disappear. If I were to have new workout gear, I would leave my job at the end of the day and meet him at the gym, we could workout together - being positive support for each other in our endeavor to become more healthy to fight the American disease of obesity. This is why I need new workout gear.

I need the workout gear because ... I really have no workout gear, except for a good pair of workout shoes. Money is very tight with my family, but I am considered "Morbidly Obese". I have lost 28 pounds in the last few months. I am ashamed to go to a workout club because of how I look. I do have workout equipment at home (weights/weight bench, exercise bicycle and treadmill). I believe if I had some good workout clothes, I'd be much more motivated!

I need new workout gear because I am 80 lbs over weight and I finally realized if I don't do something now I am going to end up with diabetes and maybe even possibly have to have open heart surgery like my dad. Since I have never really excercised before I don't have alot of excercise gear and make do with what I have... but it sure would be sweet to win some!

Thank you!

I need the workout gear because ....

In the past 5 months I've lost 67 pounds and I'm about to ramp up my workout plan. I will be participating in the Crim Festival of Races Training Program - it's a 15 week training program to prepare folks for participating in the races in August. I'll be doing my first race ever! Still deciding between the 8k or the 10-mile. Then there's an extended training program to prep for another race in October. I'll be doing that program too and hoping to get good enough to do the half marathon in October. Wish me luck! This is all new ground for me. ~Pam

I need new workout gear because whenever I get it into my mind to workout I look at my lousy sneakers and dollar store pedometer and tell myself that it isn't worth the humiliation. However, whenever I get it into my mind to buy new workout gear I can always think of some bill I could be using the money for and as a starving college student, those take precedence. I need this gear to be more inspired about myself. (And maybe owning new gear will force me to splurge on myself every so often!)

I need new workout hear because my life is spiraling and I am working my rear off to bring it back under control. I got divorced in February, and moved out to California to start a new life. I thought I found a new guy and that my job was going well, then things went south... The long distance between me and the guy (he was in Canada) took its toll, I found out that my partner in my home office is working to prevent my promotion, and my scores to get into B-school were abysmal. My natural instincts are to hole up and hide, but that's not the new life I came here to live. New workout gear will be an added motivation to handle the stress and challenges in a healthy way, rather than turning to food or some other equally negative coping mechanism. Winning something like this would be huge for me, a boost in the right direction and even an indication that things might be turning around.

Thanks for considering me.

I need new workout gear because...I have lost almost 80 pounds and none of my clothes fit. My mortgage has been increased, as has the premium on my health insurance, so it looks like baggy old clothes - or naked treadmilling.

I seriously doubt that would go over too well at the gym.

Seriously. My old football jerseys are dresses now. If I added a wide belt and a cocaine habit people would mistake me for Lindsay Lohan. If she were a dude with a beard. We have the same breast size for now. It could be an easy mistake to make, I suppose. Especially given how rough she looks at 3AM.

How the hell did I get to discussing my manboobs in a workout gear giveaway post?

Cynthia

I need new workout gear because I'm getting to a point where I can see I will be needing some new clothes in a smaller size.

In fact, since I'm on that cusp, I'd probably take my winnings in a size smaller (OK, not the shoes! My size 10 feet would NOT appreciate smaller shoes!) and use that as additional motivation to work out hard, lose inches and make my winnings fit me.

Aside from that... to get to goal, I have a long journey still ahead of me. Every tiny improvement I make in my fitness and every fraction of a pound loss is a win.

I need new workout gear because I have little self worth left. I'm afraid I won't be able to play with my son if I continue to gain weight. Or worse, him be so ashamed of me that he doesn't want me to meet any of his friends! I'm 5'2" and 178lbs and I know there is still a thin person under all this. If you are thin you might think that is ridiculous. If you are fat you know the sense of sheer desperation and loss of all sensibility when you smell a warm, hot off the grill carne asada burrito. Ahhhhhh, yes, a burrito with a glass of coke. Did that one burrito make me fat? Well, technically no. But it is that one moment, that split second when one decides that a burrito is worth whatever consequences it brings... it is the hundreds of times in three years when one burrito does not seem all that harmful... it is the accumulation of 500 burritos, 300 chicken sandwiches, 700 Cokes, 800 granola bars, 150 bags of chips... over a three year span, that got me to where I am. Each instance is small. Just one burrito. Just for today. Add them up and you get to be 70lbs overweight. In each and every instance, I chose a bite of this or a taste of that for my health and happiness.

I need new workout gear for my mom to give her an incentive to start running with me. I'm planning on running my first 5K in May, and I'm hoping she'll do it with me. She could really use some new stuff, but she refuses to ever spend any money on herself.
