Lose Weight Eating Burritos?

Mover over Jared and the Subway diet, there is a newcomer to the fast food weight loss arena and his name is Justin Hall.

Over three months, Justin has lost 40 pounds by eating a Chipotle burrito every day, but compared to the Subway diet, Justin’s new “Chipotle Diet” is pretty extreme since Justin’s daily burrito has a whopping 1330 calories!

According to Justin, the burrito leaves him “satisfied for nearly 24 hours, before he needs another.”

The rest of his Chipotle diet consists of eating only fruits and salads for the rest of the day.

Justin made a couple more changes including eliminating his daily soda, drinking more water and taking a multivitamin.

One habit he has not added into his weight loss regimen is exercise.

Diets based around processed fast foods instead of whole natural foods are always going to be less healthy, but if I had to vote for either the Subway diet or the Chipotle diet, then Jared and his lower fat Subway diet wins in a landslide.

What do you think?

no diet works. how about just eating right ya know? ever hear of vegetables and fruits? also hear of putting the fork down every so often?

also walking.. the basic getting off your fat buttocks is a good way too.

sheesh... diets has.. DIE in it.

yeah right.

Oh yeah, I'm sure he never walks. Come on, give the guy a break. He's at least willing to make a change and he's aware that this is not a permanent solution. And as to fruits and veggies... seems to me that lettuce, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and avocados are all fruits and veggies.

I actually work for Chipotle and I am on a diet that consists of two burrito bol's that equal around 700 callories and then either a healthy dinner or a healthy breakfast depending on what shift I work. I've lost 35lbs in the first month on the diet

Why would you eat one huge burrito every day and then practically nothing the rest of the day? You could just have a half of a burrito for lunch and a half of a burrito for dinner! That'd be about 500 calories for lunch and dinner. Have a 300-500 calorie breakfast and two small snacks totaling 200 calories combined sometime during the day (a piece of fruit and a serving of junk food) and you've got a 1600-1800 calorie diet that allows you to eat your favorite food and a serving of delicious junk food every day, which would allow anyone over the recommended weight range to lose weight. Eating moderately-sized meals throughout the day will also speed up your metabolism compared to eating one gigantic meal that your body is forced to use for energy the entire day.

I'm not saying this is the ideal diet, but it is one that a normal person can do and stick with without becoming hungry and while being able to eat delicious food.

People should email Chipotle with a link to the chipotle calorie counter asking for a small sized Chipotle burrito with 30-50% less calories. Right now people are eating these mammoth burritos thinking they are being healthy.

I eat two chipotle burritos every day with extra sour cream and cheese. I am gaining weight fast but i can't stop eating the huge pods of mexican deliciousness. I think they marinate the carnitas in nicotine or something because i just can't stop. Does anyone know of a way that i can keep eating this and not get too too fat. I gained 20 pounds in the last month but no matter how hard i try, even in freezing rain or sub-zero temperatures i will make it to chipotle for those burritos.

most of you either work for subway or chipotle.

dont eat either.

whom ever said that subway is FULL of carbs is an idiot. the bread and maybe some of the veggies have a little carbs.

eating one meal at 1300 calories is stupid. eat small meals throughout the day.

keep you motab going. you body will store food longer if you eat once a day. your body doesnt know your going to scarf down another burrito at 1300 cals the next day.

exercise.
small portions.
fruits
whole grains
protiens.

dont starve yourself.

quit fadding, or youll stay a fatty.

one love!

1) The burritos he eats are without the tortilla (they are "burrito bowls"), and without the tons of rice and beans they tend to put in their burritos.
2) The burritos he eats are about 700-800 calories EACH. His site notes they are 1480 calories A DAY for both of them. (and not 1330 calories each, as this article implies)
3) McDonalds WAS an INVESTOR in Chipotle. They have since completely divested from the company (since October 2006).

There is no reason to think that McDonalds ever controlled the menu, the quality or sources of the ingredients, or the recipes. Therefore, it is quite unreasonable to think the quality of their food should be considered as low quality as McDonald's food is purported to be. Also, while I would think his diet of ONLY Chipotle burritos is rather boring, there is no reason to think it is dangerously unhealthy. I would definitely balance such a diet with vitamin supplements, or better, some nutrient rich, low sugar vegetable salads. Focusing on the exact same foods every day to me seems to be just asking to be deficient in something.
