The Wellness Phone
An amazing new mobile phone has been demonstrated at a Japanese electronics show. The prototype "Wellness" phone from DoCoMo Inc. comes with infrared sensors, gas monitors, and electrodes that allow it to perform a number of healthy checks.

- Measure body fat - The user enters height and weight and presses down on electrodes.
- Motion sensor - detects body movement and calculates calories burned, or can be used as a pedometer. Will also determine the type of movement (jogging or walking) and track time and distance.
- Measures pulse - by holding a part of the phone.
- Breath odor - using a gas monitor.
The gadget also has a "self-help" program in it:
When the busy spokesman answered "Yes" to a series of questions - including "Do you feel lethargic?" and "Do you go to bed after midnight?" - a message appeared on the screen warning he was under a lot of stress."Don't worry, tomorrow's a fresh new day," the phone then flashed. "Keep your chin up!"
Presumably you can make phone calls as well...

Amazing mobile phone from DoCoMo Inc with so much useful features for the weight losers and health conscious guys
ReplyAs I commented in my blog this weekend, too bad DoCoMo, Inc. doesn't sell their products overseas, I think it would be a huge hit throughout the world.
ReplyThat's awesome. The bad breath detector is great ... a real gift to society ;)
ReplyIf anything it needs a civility detector to shut itself off during a funeral or church service. Also a motion detector to shut off when driving an auto.
This gadget is great for creating more dependency on cell phones.
ReplyThe breath analyzer is a good touch. Does it also measure alcohol content? So you don't drive drunk? LOL.
ReplyThat's great. The features are really useful, especially the gas monitory. I also think it would be a big hit to people all over the world.
ReplyThis reminds me of the bodybugg - an interesting concept but a bit steep at $500 for the equipment and only 3 months worh of service.
ReplySpectra, it would be more amusing if it kept you from "drunk dialing"
ReplyWonderful. It's amazing how technology can put a lot of things together in one package.
