The Treadmill Bike
Like the treadmill but want to do it out in the fresh air? Forget walking... that's so last year.
Get a treadmill on wheels instead. You could get one to go with your treadmill desk.
Here are two "interesting" inventions.
The Treadmill Bike from Bicycle Forest
This appears to be making a mockery of the whole idea. The invention, however, seems real enough.
The Treadmill Bike offers the same fat burning benefits of a conventional treadmill without the membership fees!

The Rollator
This one comes from a Dutch design firm. You can see a video of it in action here.
With this vehicle you'll move fast forward when walking slow, thanks to its 3 gears.

While my initial reaction is oh god, what a ridiculous combination, this is actually a neat idea. You can walk a lot farther with less effort thanks to gearing, meaning it makes "walking to the store" a more appealing idea -- you don't "walk" as far, even though you get that far :-)
ReplyI guess the ability to get somewhere faster than your pace would take you is a good thing ... it might encourage people to walk more than they would otherwise. But mostly this just seems weird and lame.
ReplyThat BikeForest site is awesome! As for the Treadmill Bike, though, I'm holding out for the motorized version.
ReplyI'm looking forward to the treadmill car :-)
ReplyThe "treadmill with wheels" idea was a joke invention on the show Mystery Science Theater 3000 about fifteen years ago..
ReplyI wonder if riding that would hurt your back after a while since you're leaning over while you're standing up. It's a funny idea though!
ReplyDidn't Fred Flintstone have a treadmill car?
ReplyI like this too. I think that it would better than a scooter but, it is little like reinventing the wheel. We could just ride the bike we already have in our garage.
ReplyI think it's cool! I had a similar idea for an "elliptical trainer bike"...kind of an elliptical machine mounted on wheels. I still have to figure out the right gear ratios to make sure you can actually pedal it fast enough so it doesn't fall over.
I wonder how fast you can go on one of these things?
ReplyIt looks dangerous!
ReplyCute!
ReplyPretty Soon We'll be part of the 'Modern Stone Age' and using Fred Flinston Like car's
Hey it might be a good idea to save on Gas $ ......
ReplyI just can't wait for someone to put a rowing machine in a rowboat, so you can take your workout to the lake :D
For the modern stone-age family?

If we could build cities around these... It might not be too late for humanity.
ReplyI had a manual treadmill and although it was a great workout I had to lean forward slightly which was hard on my back. This product seemed similar and would not be the product for me unless they found a way for me to stand up completely straight.
