Downsizing the Burger

by J. Foster

A Japanese company has come up with a solution to obesity: a really small burger.

It turns out the mini-burger is actually a cookie. The idea is good though. Maybe someone needs to alert Burger King.

The snack burgers are called "Every Burger".

^_^ I love Japanese society.

Simply look at how portion sizes for fast food have changed since the 50's - or compare to European fast food portions. That tiny burger isn't such a bad idea!

The way meals have grown in the last 30-40 years, amazing. And people actually try to find a deeper meaning for this obesity problem. I guess the obvious gets ignored! The Japanese are so cool :P

Ha, cool. When I was looking for wedding caterers, I found this one lady that made mini-entrees of everything...teeny bowls of mac and cheese (literally, the bowls were the size of a thimble), burgers that fit on the tip of your finger, etc. If it hadn't cost something like $80 a person to get that food, I would've gotten her to cater my wedding. Pretty cool idea :)

Hey, those look like the cookie burger we used to make in elementary school....you use vanilla wafers as the bun, an Oreo as the patty, and the use the cream from the center of the Oreos and color them with red and yellow food coloring to make the ketchup and mustard.

Oh great! I fully expect to see nanny states adopt this as the cure for obesity

Heh, heh, except you know you can't eat just one...

I often recommend to my clients to cut their portion sizes by 1/3 to 1/2 if they can without starving. But that little burger's ridiculous! lol

They do have nice ideas. Hopefully, this idea would lead other researchers and innovators to come up with a better and healthy versions of those unhealthy foods.

I don't know if it would be easy to stop at just one, but as a sarcastic response to the whole portion-monster-supersizing trend, it sure sure works well in my book. ;)

When I saw the picture, I taught it was a real burger in a small scale.
It's good to know that people still come up with this kind of idea.

Soon people will be making gallon-size bowls of Mac N Cheese to satisfy their cravings.

They are also tiny 'ice cream cones' cookies that come replete with tiny balls of strawberry cream for fillings. But if you want the real stuff, there's always Wall's Mini Cornetto ice creams, three inch tall mini ice creams cones with flavours like tiramisu and green tea.

The small burger would be a good idea, if junk food would not make us crave more junk food - which it does.
It seems bad food feeds the bad bacteria in your gut, leading to a cycle of cravings, eating junk, cravings - .
