Consumption
It's hard to believe that the average American consumes around 3,800 Calories per day. That's more than all the food shown on this page. Highly processed foods are very easy to overeat.
I am a heart patient and am trying to lose weight, i have been heavy all my life and at 35 was diagnosed with a genetic heart problems with small veins, so things block quickly.( I lost a sister at 46 to this same disease, however she was not heavy) In the past 12 years I have had two open heart surgerys, 12 stents and have now been told that a transplant is my only surgical option left, BUT my BMI is to high to go on list, i can't have surgery to lose weight and i am very limited on physical activity because of my heart. SO NOW WHAT? I Have have been told to eat 4-5 500 calorie meals each day, but am having trouble finding example plans to follow, someone please Help!!!!!
ReplyI feel so sad for you guys and gals. that you have to eat this crap to lose weight. what are you all doing during the day?? i eat pizza, fast food, ice cream, gallons of soda a week and i still lose weight. stop portioning yourself like your stuck on a deserted island. just get off your butt and be active. then you can eat WHATEVER you want.
ReplyThis is very helpful, thank you.
Replyexcellent - thanks :)
ReplyThe people bragging that you should just exercercize so you can gorge yourself on poor food choices have as much of a problem as the people they're attempting to ridicule. Overeating is overeating.
I'm not overweight. I do eat healthily and exercise a moderate amount each day. But I see no point in tying myself to the gym so I can feel good about eating a bunch of crap that I don't need to eat anyway.
I would way rather just make smart, delicious food choices than spend all my spare time obsessively working out just so I "have the right" to eat garbage like fast food and candy and soda and processed junk. Why not just avoid it altogether? There's plenty of amazing food out there that's not absolute crap.
ReplyI agree Jessie, rather watch what you eat than obsesively going to the gym for that matter and give yourself reward foods.According to research done by "The Times" magazine, the common mistake people make is rewarding themselves when they exercise or the sugar cravings they give in too; this result in gaining weight. For instance an hour gym= burning 400 Calories, then afterwards you reward yourself with a chocolate or chips and whoops that's already 300 Calories, not even to speak of eating or drinking something afterwards.Even if you exercise you can't gulp junk food or chocolate as if you deserve it, this is a very bad recipe!
ReplyThis is for the Mc.Donalds & Starbucks lovers:
Did you know;
a Mc.Donalds milkshake contains 28 spoons of sugar =560 CAL
a Starbucks Cofee-chino contains 17 spoons of sugar=340 CAL
And that's not even counting the other stuff in it.
1 SPOON SUGAR = 20 CALORIES
Eating healthy is more important than exercising!
Great tips...thanks:)
ReplyThat is some nasty looking water in the first picture.
ReplyI been walking for 3 weeks, 3 to 4 miles daily and i have just lost 1 1/2 pound. my usual breakfast is cereal, lunch tuna salad and dinner fish or chicken with a vegetable.
ReplyHi Marie.
I'm not sure if you think your weight loss it too slow, but to be helpful, it works like this. 3-4 miles of walking is 150-200 calories, ie 50 cal. a mile. It takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound. If you walk 200/day and eat 300 a day less, that's 500 cal a day, and one pound of weight loss a week. That's what I learned in rocket science school, and it seems to be the way it happens for us. Good luck with your progress, slow is more sustainable for diets. Rockets need to be fast, but they tend to crash a lot :-)
ReplyI like this post! This is a good example of simply clean eating! However, today the average (overweight) person usually consumes also quite some calories with inbetween snacks. I think this is also something to consider and to get rid of. Change your behavior, and you will automatically lose weight. This only requires minimal will power if you have the right tools. Nevertheless, clean eating without overindulging has become quite rare today!
Replyyou guys who are fighting are so stupid. if you think you're so right about healthy foods then why feel the need to shove your opinions under everyone's noses before you? you guys are pathetic. and to the guy who eats all he wants and excercies everyday is probably fat and bald, lying through his teeth on a computer.
ReplyWell I think that all looks delicious! :)
Replyso glad to find this blog!real info n sooo creative!right eating rocks!
ReplyThose plates look awfully skimpy to me - no way I would feel full on those. I have been working on a 1500 calorie a day diet that fills me up by using lots of vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, and broccoli in creative tasty ways, together with cutting out most fats and all refined carbohydrates. I've lost 40 pounds in 3 months and feel much healthier.
ReplyI don't know what's happen, but I know nobody who eats as much as me for my size! I'm 175 cm, and I eat as much or more than my bf (he's 193 cm). I still weigh only 60kg. We both work out, how come I still eat more? Why don't I gain it?
ReplyI agree and disagree with the posts, but hey it's called an opinion.I'm eating about 1300 calories a day and exercising 5 times a week for about 1 and half hours, this involves cardio & weight training.I started calorie counting, cuz I kept feeling guilty when I eat and didn't want it 2 develope into something negative. My calorie intake and exercise is worked out according to my body type&length.
I'm in good shape, but work my butt off to get my stomach flat.Which was by the way, indicated by researh;only eating right will get you this benefit.
F.Y.I - IF YOU ARE A BIG GIRL YOU WILL LOSE FAT, IF YOU ARE A SKINNY GIRL YOU WILL TONE.BUT DON'T BE FOOLED U ALSO GET SKINNY-FAT GIRLS.
I've done my own research for a few years now and it came down to one simple thing,Knowledge is power!
ReplyA few pointers that made my life easier:
1)Drink more water - more u drink the less water will be held back in ur system
2)Regular toilet visits improves your system&stomach from being bloated - avoid laxatives, use black forest tea,eat dried fruit.
3)Eating right will get you a flat stomach - sit-ups and croaches will get you a toned stomach, but it has to be flat first - good option avoid white starches and sugars.EAT RIGHT!
4)Exercise with intervals - jog 4min, run 1min for 30min better than jogging for an hour.
5)Keep switching your exercise routine around - so it keeps on working
6)Always stretch afterwards - flexibility is vital when you are going over 25.
7)If you want to eat a chocolate for example eat it an hour before you exercise. This way you burn the chocolate calories before it gets stored.
8)Eat a high carb meal once a month to keep your metabolism in practise - eating puny foods can make ur matobolism lazy.
9)Avoid diet pills - if u start using them u'll have 2 keep on using them.Don't let ur system adapt to crap.If u are using pills make sure a doctor checks them out.
10)Count your calories
Exercises hungry for calories:
Swimming - good for stomach muscles as well
Jogging and cycling and speed walking
Intresting fact:1kg muscle burns atleast 3 calories, 1kg fat burns 1 calorie p/day without doing anything
COUNTING CALORIES: Don't strain urself, get a chart of calories in food and still keep eating those yummy things, just don't over do it.Very important, the hardest exercise is re-training your eating habits and staying motivated.Keep on doing what you should and after a while it will come natural.
KEEP YOU FOCUS AND KEEP IT HEALTHY.
GOOD LUCK AND I'M PROUD OF EVERYBODY!
Hey! I i just ran across this post and it was exactly what i was looking for! im 20 years old with a 2 year old daughter and a full time job PLUS school so i dont have a whole lot of time to go to the gym (although, i still go a few days a week) my question is how do u get over the cravings?! I often skip meals because i don't feel like i have time to eat and then when i get home between work and school i just stuff my face with the nearest food. it seems like my body is so hungry i cant wait to cook something and theres always snacks around because karlie (my daughter) should i try to go cold turkey on junk? or like wean myself? any suggestions?
ReplyYes, This is fine diet...i read in your previous post that grapes have more than 100 calories but most of the doctors suggest us to eat grapes..Why ??
Replymmmmm....cardboard flavored....
ReplyHaha! i agree with you aznboysyb! this is the kind of stuff that makes diet seem like a suicide mission!!
Replywhat am I suppose to do
ReplyThere is no way these meals are 300 calories or less. In the very first example, an English muffin is 120 calories and 8 oz of juice is over 100 calories so that would mean all the other food is 70 calories???? This is so misleading for anyone who really needs to limit calories.
