Advertising: Cows Drink Soy Milk
Silk Soy Milk have been running an unusual TV advertising campaign in which the main characters are cows. The cows have opted for a healthier lifestyle by drinking soy milk.

A few years ago I didn’t care much about – trans-saturated fats, good cholesterol vs. bad cholesterol, or even calcium. (Don’t judge me.)Cows drinking soy milk. I don't get it. Am I missing something here? (via Disease Proof)But now I’ve really started living a more heart-healthy life – cutting back on the junk food and making small changes. Adding Silk to my diet everyday is a simple, tasty change that may help me lower my cholesterol, [...]

Cows drink soymilk and prefer more chik'in. brilliant.
ReplyThey sure are creative. Cows are naturally associated with milk; soy milk is, well, milk. I guess it makes sense.
ReplyThat's cute, I always enjoy a funny ad (never makes me buy products though, I'm pretty immune to propoganda). Unfortunately they're using the very same advertsing tactics the dairy industry has been raked over the coals for.
ReplyCaramelle-oh: How true, but soy is a magic, miracle food full of enlightenment and long life, where milk is a demonic food. The fact is both have their strengths, both have their faults, and both can be good or bad depending on what's been done to them. Milk is best left unaltered; soy is best fermented. Supermarket cows' milk and soy milk both have serious problems.
ReplyI love it. I guess cows can't drink regular milk because it would be like humans drinking, well, human milk. Not that babies don't. OK, I'll stop here.
ReplySilk, silk, silk. What do cows drink? Water.
I don't get it either.
ReplySoy is a plant, cows are plant-eaters. Makes sense to me. Far more natural than humans drinking the breast milk of another species.
It's good to see an advertising campaign with a bit of humour too.
ReplyDaharja, cows only naturally eat grasses. Of course, we feed them soy-based feed, sometimes "enhanced" with cow bones, making the cattle we eat cannibals, and also being responsible for causing Mad Cow disease.
ReplyAnd why are the cows are wearing human clothes and sitting at a kitchen table speaking English? (Because it's funny!) If they were truly happy cows, they would be outdoors talking about cheese and playing Marco Polo. These cows look more sophisticated, though. They probably use Gateway computers and watch Rocko's Modern Life... well, may not. Now I'm just being udderly ridiculous.
ReplyWell, I guess if cows did drink milk, why not drink soy milk? It's just a funny ad, don't take it seriously. Cows drink water, same as every other animal. Next, we'll see chickens scrambling up EggBeaters for breakfast or something like that.
ReplyThat is why it reminded me of the old trick question. "Say "silk" 3 times" "Silk, silk, silk" "What do cows drink?" and 9 times out of 10, the person will answer "milk" instead of "water". And the soy milk brand is called Silk, to make it even more similar to the trick question.
ReplyHow sad it's to read that some people will just go ahead and eat and drink whatever they are told without taking the time to do some research. Please look into the dangers of soy, you can find all the information about it in Google.
ReplyThis marketing campaign is advertising genius. This is one of the funniest commercials on television today. I would much rather watch cows convincing one another to drink soy milk than watch commercials advertising products to cure every bodily malfunction known to man. Let's not take this too serious people!
