Workouts for iPods and MP3 Players
Audio and video workouts for portable devices have become very popular over the last year. There are also workouts for certain mobile phones.
There are many places you can download these - with sites offering very professional and effective workout packages.
Here are some sites to check out. This list will be maintained.

- Cardio Coach - Popular cardio workouts (interval training) from Sean O'Malley. I use some of these workouts (see my review of Cardio Coach).
- FitMusic - A great blog/podcast site that focuses on fitness routines for iPods. Regularly produces completely free MP3 workouts.
- iAmplify - Offers a massive amount of wellness videos and audios (and many other things. Subscription plus some free downloads (they currently have a few free workouts from "YOU: On a diet").
- Pump One - A large range of focused workouts - predominantly resistance training.
- iTrain - A good selection of workout from a selection of professional trainers.
- PodFitness - Workouts from over 50 "world-class" trainers - via paid monthly subscription.
- Muscle Audio - One of the few audio workouts that focus strictly on building muscle (strength / resistance training).
- Marinas Audio Workout Center - Walking and aerobics workouts.
- GYMp3 - "put a Hollywood celebrity trainer in your head".
- Sound Body Trainer - A smaller selection of workouts.
- Exercise Radio - Has 4 channels of streaming audio - all at different BPM (beats per minute).
- Fitness Songs - A smaller selection of workouts.
- Jog Tunes - An iTunes affiliate site offering ready-made music mixes to jog to.
- Jamcore Training - Downloadable and iPod-ready videos covering strength training. Monthly fee. NOTE: See also MyFitTribe - has free videos.
- Podrenaline - Downloadable and iPod-ready audio workouts covering most aspects of fitness. (added April 7 2007)

CardioCoach is truly awesome -- has completely changed my outlook on cardio workouts.
ReplyI'm a big fan of Cardio Coach too!
ReplyI had no idea that there were so many workouts available! I'm happy turning on some music and dancing but those routines sound interesting
ReplyI've used a couple of the iTrain workouts (specifically, the treadmill and elliptical ones) and found them to be great for intervals.
http://www.itrain.com
ReplyI got all excited about the iAmplify site, but was very disappointed. I downloaded the "Cycling Workout for Pros" by Matthew Reyes. He's certainly no Sean O'Malley (the Cardio Coach)!
But here's the tricky bit - the downloads on iAmplify include instructional photos, but they're about the size of a postage stamp and very indistinct. This isn't a problem for the "Cycling Workout for Pros" - by the time you're a pro, if you don't know the different hand positions to use on a bike you've got problems - but it could make it impossible to do the Pilates workout using a medicine ball that I wanted to try. Unfortunately, you can't see the photos until after you've paid for the download. Oh well...
ReplyI'd add jogTunes.com to the list!
ReplyThank you Diet-Blog and Hergrace for your kind mention of jogTunes.com. I'm also publishing a 30 minute "run-to" music-paced running podcast called The JogTunesIndie Podcast. It's available at JogTunesIndie.com. I'd love feedback. Please tell me what you think.
Replyipod workouts never sounded so good
ReplyMarina kicks butt
Jamcore training added.
ReplyI love all of this info, the only problem is that many of the links don't go anywhere, they come back to this same page. Is that supposed to be like that.
ReplyThanks
LOVE Cardio Coach!
Before you know it, you are through an excellent cardio workout and drenched in sweat. Time flies and the positive messages O'Mally gives work on your subconscious long after is over.
Great Motivator!
ReplyMy club in the bay area just installed a kiosk from this company MYE and it let's you download programs onto an MP3 player instantly. It's is fantastic! Programs from iTrain, Podfitness and Marina Online. I hope they add Cardio Coach too!

Replydo you guys know where one can find free workout mixes? i have started to post some on my website and i am trying to connect with other sites that do the same.

ReplyMusic is a distraction to me. When I listen to music, I just listen to it, otherwise when I'm doing something -- I'm absolutely muddled up.
ReplyJust adding another positive review for Cardio Coach. The long-awaited Volume 7 is now available. It's real sweat-through-your-pants, puke-in-a-bucket cardio. I would find it hard to get through such a tough workout without the inspirational music and Sean O'Malley's coaching. Wonderful!
Replysepehr, for just music I like podrunner he puts out an hour-long mix about weekly.
ReplyWhat about yoga?! YogaDownload.com has killer downloadable yoga classes. Never knew yoga could be such a butt-kickin workout!!
ReplyPlease include www.roxfitness.com. Rox offers video workouts AND cool features like workout reminders, text messages for support and goal setting tools.
ReplyThanks good

Replyyes it is...
ReplyA lot of great information here. I'd love it if this list stayed reliably updated.
I think you should maybe edit the Podfitness site description to mention that it synchronizes its workouts to your own music. How cool is that? I haven't used it yet, but I am considering doing so when the weather gets worse and I need a push. As far as I can tell, they are unique in allowing you to use your own music.
Also, I second the recommendation for Robert's Couch to 5K workout on Podcasts for Running.
Replytoniquefitness.com - i think a new one to this list - sorry if it's a double post . My wife bought the DVD after we had our first baby. On the other hand.. Im hooked. I workout 3 days a week using this Tonique method.zed..
