The Oxo Diet
A British man has lost over 200 pounds by swapping pasties for bowls of Oxo broth. Oxo cubes are small blocks of stock that can be dropped into soups and stews.
He swapped pasties for bowls of Oxo broth every breakfast, topped up with more Oxo drinks, as well as vegetables and fruit.
Of course there was also a few other changes to Steve Kay's life:
He said: "It was tough, but I had a lot of vegetables too and a lot of exercise."The diet is reminiscent of the ever popular "soup" diets that seem to fall in and out of fashion every few years.

Well, "yuck", "eww" and what-not, it DID work for him, and that's a fact. It worked tremendously well! I am glad for him.
And, as Esther1UK said it very well: salt is a lot less damaging than carrying 200 lbs around.
I can easily imagine why such a diet would be much more satisfying than other "liquid" diets: at least the stuff gives you the impression of having consumed something "non-diety", something substantial; it gives you the aftertaste of "serious" food.
Besides, there are other soups, not meat-based (important for a vegetarian like myself) which are actually much healthier than the great majority of foods people seem to consume. Since "Oxo" is a brand name, I hope to be forgiven for mentioning by name the brands that I prefer: VITAM and GUT & GERNE, both German.
