Anatrim: Bogus Time-Waster
Every day I have "friends" that email me. They say it's time to become fit and happy again, and to make your fat friends envy you.
It's spam, and it's about a diet pill called Anatrim, and it's driving me crazy.
Recently it seems the volume has picked up. Maybe something to do with the fact that "Summer is coming, time to tone up" (another spam subject line).
Anatrim has the audacity to use the logos of the BBC, ABC, O - The Oprah Magazine, and 60 Minutes on their emails and website. Of course, if you're already breaking the law by sending bulk unsolicited email - why bother with being honest at all?
The Anatrim website is worse. Crystal clear photos of happy customers showing their new bodies. Funny thing is, I'm sure I've seen some of those photos before on other sites.
So what exactly is Anatrim?
It's an appetite suppressant blend (if it's real at all). From the FAQ:
Anatrim gordonii, (Anatrim) is the botanical name for a cactus like plant that grows in Southern Africa. At least I got a chuckle out of this. There is no such plant. And yes, I even checked many different botanical databases. As if a plant would be called "Anatrim".
For some reason they are trying to pretend it is Hoodia Gordonii without mentioning the word Hoodia. All very strange.
Who buys this stuff?
Sadly, someone out there must surely be responding to these offensive and dishonest emails. Otherwise they wouldn't keep sending them. These guys are champion spammers. No matter what I do, they keep getting past my spam filters. Their website(s) are both registered and located in Beijing, China.
Thanks so much Anatrim for causing me to waste minutes of my precious time every single day for the last so many months.

Same story here. I'm sick of them wasting my time and cluttering up my mailbox. I've got an address through my ip that I've never ever used, and they've even gotten ahold of that one!
ReplyHmm...I must have a pretty decent spam filter because I haven't gotten anything from them. I can't believe how outrageous their claims are though...Anatrim gordonii?? That sounds so incredibly bogus, I can't believe anyone would buy into it. I'm sure people have though. It's too bad the FDA can't do anything about these people.
ReplyI'll bet they don't use the word "hoodia" since a spam filter would eat that in a sec. But yeah, v., v., v. weird.
ReplyI haven't gotten those... I get mostly Viagra and "replica watches" spam. My clients haven't either, but they do get a ton of Herbalife spam.
ReplyI get so tired of getting emails for phoney diet pills and the like. I did boost my spam filter but some still slip through. They con the desperate and the desperate might only have ten to 15 pounds to lose or be a child or teen who gets hold of mom's/dad card.
ReplyThank goodness for the delete button. It takes me only about two seconds to get rid of tons of spam, even when I'm careful not to erase the legitimate stuff. It's no more worrisome to me than junk snail mail. Spam isn't a problem; it's a fact of life.
ReplyI found your site because I was trying to find a way to contact Anatrim and say a few choice words. Like you I am extremely frustrated with all of the spam these days, but Anatrim takes the cake.
ReplyI appreciate the fact you took the time to do some research and let me know I am wasting my time trying to find them.
I will never have a chance if it is in China. Maybe they will stop one day.
Regards,
As an unfortunate addendum to this post, I have ended up removing my email address from this site. The spam (not only Anatrim) got truly out of hand, and they seem to be getting round all the spam filters.
@kevin: Trying to get a hold of some of these guys is close to impossible. I've noticed that they frequently change website URLs (almost like a bait and switch).
So much for the CAN Spam act - what a joke!
ReplyIt is incredible how drug companies are coming up with almost anything to make money. They tried ephedrine, which is now illegal. That did not work so now they are coming up with ways to trick the brain to think it that you are not hungry. In some diet pills you might lose weight, but think what you are doing to your heart. In the long run, you are just hurting your self! My opinion, is lose weight the healthy way.... eat healthy and work out!!! :)
ReplyI run an insurance business and normally I have 20 to 25 business related e-mails come to my office each day, however, thanks to Anatrim I now have over 100 e-mails a day and must sift through each one to avoid deleting any "real" service notes from my clients and companies. What a bunch of you know what. Dale.
ReplySomeone please hack Anatrim. I hope they die of obesity.
ReplySpam alert in aisle 7.
ReplyThank you so much for this site....OMG....I too was just looking for anatrim just to research it and saw this site second on the list! I am also glad to know that I am not the only one that gets those stupid junk mails every day....they send them to my work email and I get hundreds everyday and I cannot even count off the top of my head of the anatrim ones I get! I agree that eating right and exercising is the best way to lose weight....but I have to admit that I am one of those people who look for the easy way.... but this just goes to show once again that there is no "miracle pill" just good basic choices and some exercise are the only way to lose the weight!
ReplyI've just been reading about the 'Anatrim' SPAM. I've been getting it for months now and so has my wife. It also links me through to a 'Penis Enlargement' site, (I think its the same people), but never can I find a source to complain to, so I suggest that if we can find a source of these SPAMS, we all forward ALL SPAMS even if they are not from that source to them and see how they like it.

ReplyYeppers, the anatrim spam is originating from China altho often using other country header addresses, none of which can be traced. I have an old book of ISP numbers around the world and found one satellite in common with several dozzen of the spam ads.
What gets me is that the ads get thru the filters of my ISP also even if my user name is spelled wrong and it appears my server doesn't even care as they do not respond to my complaints either.
What irks me even more is that China is not even an American ally and the powers to be seem happy that they are manipulating our culture...grrrrr...!
How long will it be before Uncle Sam will force us to pay a tax on internet usage so that we can then pay for unwanted spam...? It's always about money, is it not...?
ReplyAnatrim are driving me crazy too
Replyi myself have fallen victim to this anatrim scam i had numerous emails sent to me and thought why not what i have got to loose, well the answer to that, my money, i now have my bank trying to get my money but could take a while as i dont even have any contact details for the dodgy buggers, if anyone can give me so info as to how i might be able to contact them it would be much appreciated.
ReplyNeither my husband or I have had a problem with spam in our inbox in over 5 yrs, however All of a sudden this week is has started with a vengence .... Anatrim and penis enlarger ??!! Driving us both CRAZY !! Wehave great virus protection (Trend Micro PC-cillin) and we switched to Modzilla Firefox, our IT guy uses it and many we know have switched) Anyway ...
ReplyWhat the HELL is going on ???
Stevie, from last Sept to last Oct, spam went from being 27% of the total internet traffic to being 66% of the total. It is not just anatrim, and it is not just your computer. I work at an ISP and we are going crazy fighting spam and still some of it makes it way through.
ReplyWe think they're hilarious. The terrible use of English always makes us laugh - and then we trash them. No harm done. I'ts a workplace joke and we imitate them all the time.
ReplyAll I can say is...
You stupid bint!
By going to their web site, all you are doing is encouraging them and getting them to continuee their spam campaign. People like you should be banned from using the Internet.
ReplyHow can I get these people from sending me their CRAP ???
ReplyAnatrim and penis enlargers. 1.3 billion Chinese can't be wrong. Can they?
ReplyReceiving spam I can deal with, but when they *send* spam using fake headers with *your* domain as the return address.... THAT's fun.
ReplyGreg: I would request to your ISP that they start requiring validation for the SMTP server, and if they are unwilling to do that, go elsewhere. It has been an international reccomendation since 2001 that all ISPs require validation, if yours is not complying to the rule, it doesn't deserve your business.
ReplyI have the same problem with dozens of emails everyday from Anatrim. Please let me know if there is any solution. I am getting crazy of them. Thanks...
ReplyI am as well being targeted by Anatrim with spam flooding my inbox like a virus spreading and since i unsubscribed my email addy, the spam has only increased! The other culprits that have been targeting me are My Canadian Pharmacy, Elite Herbal, and Canadian Pharmancy. My Canadian Pharmacy is the worst culprit as they have been evading law enforcement such as the FBI and Interpol since 2004 and these bastards are a large umbrella organization responsible for selling your email address to all their other affiliations so thanks to them, we are being victimized in large numbers!
The only effective tool to fight spam i have found is called DrStopSpam. It tracks the sources of the spam and sends out professional complaints letters to all necessary authorities who can put a stop to this UCE/Spam. This is the best method to wage war on spam i have found yet! you can download a free copy of this program and get revenge on spammers, possibly winning the war against spam!
DrStopSpam gives me hope these ppl will get off my back for good! in fact, i have already heard from 5 authorities who have issued warnings against the culprits to cease all spamming activity in future and it's all thanks to this powerful program and of course the authorities who are willing to cooperate. Here is the link to this powerful program that you can download for free:

try it and see if you get as many results as i have. it's pretty effective in fighting the enemy. well, good luck everyone with your war against spam. if we all fight against these companies together, we can win and put them out of business for good! Here's h hoping!:)
ReplyA barrage of Anatrim spam initiated this review on UltimateFatBurner.com...
http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/anatrim-fat-burner-review.html
The most interesting thing that transpired as result of this review was this...
One of my readers took it upon himself to trace the origin of all his Anatrim spam over the course of a couple of weeks. All were sent from compromised servers or trojaned home PCs. Domains were hosted on "spam-proof" services in China, and each domain was only a week old. According to my visitor, every one of them was associated with the criminal spammers Leo Kuvayev and Alex Polyakov -- making Anatrim the product of an International crime syndicate.
Lovely, eh?
