An awful doctor, some fascinating flicks, and other oddities.

- A doctor was fined $US14,000 for prescribing diet pills to a patient. Sadly the patient didn't need diet pills - she had a 14.7kg (32.4lb) cancerous cyst in her abdomen.
- The documentary Sweet Misery is up on Google Video. The 1 1/2 hour video looks at the long-term affects of Aspartame.
- Atkins dieter Kent Altena has a selection of self-made videos all about his experiences and 200lb weight loss using the Atkins diet. Of interest is his frank and open admissions about loose abdominal skin after weight loss. Kent sometimes comments on diet-blog under the username "bowulf".
- Nutrient Rich is an eating program that focuses on nutrient density (similar to Joel Fuhrman's approach). Nutrient Rich uses a "flexitarian" approach rather than completely vegetarian.
- What is you ecological footprint? Take the earthday test and find out. According to Science Blogs if we all had the consumption level of Tom Cruise we would require 2,700 earths...

Aspartame
Some people are sensitive to it and can get severe headaches.
Was that movie for real? She traveled the country for the truth? It would have taken her ten mints to discover the truth on snopes. Aspartame isn’t toxic that’s urban legend that can be found on snopes http://www.snopes.com
Palm beach institute for medical research? Whoes heard of it?
Saddily my net is slow and I couldn't finish all the video but much of what I had heard gave out wrong info.
Anything even natural foods can make people sick and be dangerous.
Even if brain tumors are on the rise? The current data proves nothing it because other things became popular at the same time of Aspertame. I thought that I was sensitve to spelnda and other sugar subsitutes but after removing foods it turned out to be a food that I was over doing.
Doctor Fine
That was weird
Loose skin happnes if it runs in your family, or you lose quickily and have a lot to lose. It happnes to people who go on low carb diets or not.
really 2,700 earths what does Tom Cruise eat?
ReplyThey were a bit harsh with Mr Cruise - they factored out his consumer habits based on income which isn't really fair.

Replystephanie: Just step on. The scale isn't the absolute measure of how healthy you are. It doesn't tell you how much muscle or fat you have, just how much you weigh, everything combined. It's the least important measure of all. Try measuring your body fat percentage or at least use your waist/hip size instead. These will give much better indicators as to how healthy you are. Also, remember that it doesn't matter where you start, just where you end up.
Now, I can't describe a whole fat loss program on this board, but I can give you some general guidelines. 6 half-sized meals are better than 3 full-sized meals. Cardio and weight lifting together are better than either of them alone. Natural food gives better results than processed food. Drink pure water and no caffeine. Finally, don't starve yourself! You can only lose 2 pounds of fat a week. If you lose any more than that, it is counterproductive to your health and/or metabolism.
ReplyRyan gave good advice, and I wanna add Stephanie: unless your size is a threat to your health (in which case you'd already know you're overweight cause it would be uncomfortable to walk, go up a flight of stairs, everything), your mom should not be making you feel self-conscious about your size. But sadly, often parents will do things that they shouldn't do (cause they were done to them when they were kids, or without noticing even), but if you weigh yourself and your weight is normal/average, do not feel you have to lose weight because your mother says so, ok?
