I was on the Nutrition In Motion diet for over a year, in Toronto, Canada. It was AMAZING. The food was excellent and I lost about 20 pounds in 4 months and then maintained it while on the program. It was very professional. You always received all the nutritional info ever day and there was NEVER any problems with delivery. Each day included 3 meals, 2 snacks and a dessert. I have since moved to the U.S. and have yet to find a program online that can even compare! I really miss it.
ReplyI'm surprised to see that Healthy Living Foods has a high volume of complaints, I've used their service in the past and have no complaint. The food is really good.
ReplyI purchased two weeks of ediets then cancelled because the food was average / bad. For example, a "Slammin' Ham Sandwich" (as they titled it) was two pieces of plain bread with a slice of ham and some cheese. That's it. Needless to say, it didn't look that way in their online picture.
I didn't mind having to supply my own fruit and milk products because I'd want to make sure myself that they were fresh. Along those lines, they had "eat by" dates on almost all their food and it was supposedly fresh for two weeks; no nutritionist is going to tell you to eat anything that's been sitting in your fridge for two weeks.
They also screwed up my account by charging me after I'd cancelled. They admitted their error but it took six phone calls - and being on hold forever each time - before the $ finally showed up in my account.
I really wanted to like them - I love their site and the CS people are great - but they need to make some changes.
ReplyI am very thankful to this site because I found Nutropia. I looked into all these companies listed, and Nutropia is by far the least expensive, most variety...and the food! My husband and I have both been eating Nutropia almost exclusively. I lost the weight I needed to lose and have kept it off. And I learned portion control.
My husband is not looking to lose weight but is a picky eater, only top quality. He loves the grilled salmon, tuna steak, vegetable shumai, and the many flavors of pancakes.
Three meals a day and two snacks for 1,200 calories up to 2,500 a day. Delivered fresh whatever days you want. I really like the convenience since I travel a lot for work, and sometimes am provided with lunch, I can stop whatever meals or days I want without penalty.
If you live in/around NYC (I live on Long Island) do it!
ReplyI just tried a week of Healthy Heart Meals and it was TERRIBLE. The food is slimy, bland, and disgusting. I couldn't even identify what each thing was until I looked at the label. There aren't any re-heating instructions included. The calorie counts are wildly off on some things - a baked breakfast of egg-whites and two pieces of broccolli is described as having 350 caloris when it possibly has 150 - if that. The exact same item is called a quiche and is supposed to have a crust but it doesn't. It's also supposed to be 350 calories. I couldn't identify any of the vegetables. It was like school cafeteria food. Ewwwwwww. The food at ediets isn't great but it's better and cheaper than this hot mess. I'm trying Bistro MD next. If that doesn't work, I'm giving up.
ReplyI have been with Healthy Heart Meals for months and I have to say that it has been great! It took a couple of days for my taste buds to get used to eating food that is low in fat, low in sodium and preservative free (I am a formal salt junkie!)
ReplyWhen I first ordered the quiche, I also wondered where is the crust so I called the Healthy Heart Meals office and inquired. They told me that the chefs decided to place the quiche in a phyllo pastry so as to reduce the sodium and oil content that is associated with a pie crust. I tried and loved it and have been ordering it since. The food is really terrific and I love the fact that it is a complete meal with vegetables and fresh fruit.
I was e-mailed my heating instructions the same day that I signed up. I was really impressed that a representative walked me through the user-friendly site the first time that I made a meal selection.
I am loving the ability to try new foods that I normally would not have the opportunity to do so.
For the $$, I think that this is the best program out there.
I agree with you Jodi. I have not received 1 meal that I didn't like. The quiche does have a phyllo crust and was petty good. My problem was more that I am not crazy about 100% egg whites, so I now avoid all the egg dishes except the tomato, feta frittata. I load up on the many crepe choices for breakfast. This is one of the few delivery places that you get real steak, real 1/2 chicken breasts, real pork loin. Fruits, nuts and really creative meals. Lots of International choices at every meal. I personally like their food much more than I did eDiets. I got tired of eDiets fare really quickly and everything was just so so. When I fixed my meals from healthy heart meals, my whole family was jealous.
You do get heating instructions when you sign up. I heat most things in a frying pan with spray canola. Some I use a toaster or microwave, depending on what it is. This lets me get great texture and I add my own seasonings. Salt Free Cavenders greek seasoning is yummy.
ReplyI'm interested in trying diet delivery programs to shed a few pounds, but haven't been able to decide on a program due to the wide selection! I live in NYC, can anyone recommend any diet delivery services that they've tried and found them effective?
I'd like to try programs that have shorter trial periods, serve high quality of food and have a relatively wide food selection. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
ReplyI am trying the DineWise diet. Great selection of their own plans or choose from a mix and match menu. I am on the second week of the 1600-1900 meal plan and the food tastes so much better than anything I have ever had in frozen foods. Will hit the scale on Monday, wish me luck!
ReplyI've tried one called liteneasy. Didnt particularly like the food and i thought that the ordering was a bit irritating. Convenient though. I would prefer to prepare and cook my own food.
ReplyI was wondering if anyone knows of a plan which is good for families in NY.
ReplyEdiets - they have neglected to ship the weekly meals 2 out of the last 3 weeks. When contacted the representative could only say they had a computer problem and there was nothing they could do. The rep was not interested in correcting the problem. Beware!
ReplyAvoid e-diets if you are relying on food delivery. While the diet works and I did lose weight, food delivery has been completely inconsistent and unreliable. I probably only received 50% of my meal deliveries since I startedin March, 2008. They have no idea what the "glitch" in their system is and can only apologize. While the reps are very nice and friendly, they cannot do anything to fix the problem other than credit your fees. I would look elsewhere until they get their act together.
ReplyMy mother purchased the Nutrisystem package, and unfortunately it made her VERY sick. I've also heard a few other people have gotten sick off it too. I didn't get sick myself... but it didn't exactly taste great, either.
