That is a nice list. I have heard good things about the ‘Zone’.
ReplyI heard some nice things about the zone was.
ReplyI am not sure it would work for me unless I had major selection in what I chose.
I am very lazy so having this to help poeple eat right is a good idea but might be a little expensive.
ReplyWith this list, you could solve the monotony/limited selection problem by simply changing meal providers once a month!
But with just a little time investment and discipline, you could just make do with the packaged, heat and serve meals in the supermarket, which have Nutrition Facts labels. Just pick the ones with calories below your threshold.
ReplyI wouldn't be opposed to this kind of service, and when I win the Powerball , I'll look into it. Until then, I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
ReplySeattle Sutton's Healthy Eating
There is one crucial thing the others do not have and that is Seattle Sutton - genuine and 100% dedicated to the best product possible for people. She's the real deal - I've known her for 45 years and trust her completely. SER

ReplyLike the previous commenter, above, I was attracted by the person behind the food, more than the delivery idea. I lost 60 lbs with Dr. Cederquist, and she is the real deal. As far as the deal on the food, Diet to Your Door is less expensive than eating out and better for you. May be true for others, too, but if you're not the eating-out type, then it's a question of priorities, I guess. I wanted to keep my fat heinie from creeping up behind me again, and I knew I was heading into a hi-stress period when I couldn't trust myself. I wasn't going to blow any more cashish on supplements and crud. Hated WW. Didn't want meds. And honestly, I have to do portion control, because I don't have time to exercise. Ain't gonna happen. Not this year anyway.
I want to share my experience with a new company in Orange County, CA. www.OCMeals.com or www.FitnessCatering.com.
I searched for a company that is able to cater to my personal needs. I am a diabetic and need guidance. Michael, who is also a personal trainer and owner of OCMeals.com is the best !
My meals are tasty and yummy. I get a great variety and the price is right. Whether organic, vegetarian, gluten-free. He does it all. I lost 10 pounds within 3 weeks and I get the meals fresh 2 times in the week.
Thank you so much
ReplyZone Delivery USA (www.zonedeliveryusa.com) is a New York-based company that is the first to deliver FRESH daily. I fly to Miami often, and have my fresh food shipped to me. This is great for business travelers and anyone who is staying in hotels, because healthy options are not always available.
Replyoops! -- I meant FRESH NATIONWIDE. They will deliver fresh to anywhere in the country. Its fantastic.
ReplyI'm interested in trying diet delivery programs to shed a few pounds, but haven't been able to decide on a program due to the wide selection! I live in NYC, can anyone recommend any diet delivery services that they've tried and found them effective?
I'd like to try programs that have shorter trial periods, serve high quality of food and have a relatively wide food selection. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
ReplyI am on one in Miami Beach called Zone At Home. They serve all South Florida all they up till Jupiter. I have been on it for 2 months & love it. The food is great & the service is great!
ReplyI am really impressed with some of the products that Schwan's Home Delivery is now offering in their "LiveSmart" line of frozen foods.
ReplyHey, just moved to Japan, wondering if there's any way to have ''home'' food delivered-- can't speak a lick of the language, and need help!!!
ReplyWould you know of a service that would cook vegetarian meals and deliver them weekly to Upland, California?
ReplyDown in South Beach & I get Zone At Home. I have been on it for 3 weeks & love it.
ReplyI am trying the DineWise diet. Great selection of their own plans or choose from a mix and match menu. I am on the second week of the 1600-1900 meal plan and the food tastes so much better than anything I have ever had in frozen foods. Will hit the scale on Monday, wish me luck!
Replyi am currently on this plan as well, i just started 2 days ago. how much did you loose, I have about 25 to loose and FAST
ReplyI am using SunFare as a vendor (through the Michael Thurman 6 week makeover plan). It's helping me loose about a pound a week (I don't have much to loose and I already eat fairly well). But my husband lost 15 pounds over 3 weeks (he had been eating junk food a lot before). The menu option is not on the Sunfare website, it seems to be a custom option they are doing for the Michael Thurman program.
The biggest complaint I have is that they don't have a national delivery option, so on a recent business trip to NYC, I found myself struggling to find the right food to eat and eventually just went back to eating whatever I wanted. My husband and I both gained a pound each that week. It probably didn't help that we also skipped all our normal workouts too.
But the main thing that strikes me as I look at all these food delivery places, is that there are too few meals. The reason why the program I am on is working for me and my husband, is that there are 7 meals a day (they are all small) but you NEVER get hungry, and you never have to finish a meal if you feel full, because there is another meal coming in 2-3 hours.
ReplyI have used diettogo.com in the past and it is FRESH FOOD .... not like frozen ww or hc in the freezer aisle! It is REAL cooked food that has been frozen and then immediately sent out! Delivers all over the the US and the best food I have tasted. I used the vegetarian plan and never went hungry. Only con was the price which is why I am no longer on it BUT when I was using the food, I lost 10 lbs the first month! Highly recommended!
ReplyIf you're looking for the best possible fresh meal delivery service in the New York City area, check out NuKitchen www.nu-kitchen.com. They have an incredible product, amazing selection -- they let you choose the meals and cancel any deliveries you don't need. Even a special program for new mothers. I've lost over 20 pounds, but keep eating with them becuase the food's so great!
ReplySorry Barrie - gotta disagree with you. Dietogo is FROZEN food - yes, at some point they make it and it is "fresh" but it has been frozen for at least a week before it gets to you (the tip-off is the substitutions menu - they don't prepare all of those items each week!)
ReplyI did this for 5 weeks and wasn't thrilled. Lost far less than the 10lbs that they guarantee you will lose if you buy the 4 week "Personal Chef" plan and they refused to honor the guarantee (1 week free food). I think my weight loss was less because I never eat a lot of salt on a day-to-day basis and so once I got on this program, I didn't get that typical "first week diet rapid weight loss" that most folks get (that first week loss is all water - the reduction in sodium acts like a diuretic and you lose water weight - not actual fat). Had some foods that were inedible and/or spoiled (yogurts that were 2 months past expire date and fruits that were bruised or brown). Also, I found a LOT of excess water in my foods once they defrosted so things were soggy. Was surprised by how much of their food was the "white/starchy" kind - white flour pasta, white bagels, sugar-laden jams, jellies, sauces and big portions of bread paired with small portions of protein - all things that even the new US Food Pyramid says are "no-nos". Customer service is LOUSY but I will say that the price is cheap...guess you get what you pay for!
Hi Reno..glad I read your info. Right now I am on ediet and have been for 9 weeks. I really enjoy the food but I am getting a little tired of the menu even tho you get to order what you want weekly..I have lost a total of 28 lbs (10 of the lbs before I started the program). The food is not frozen and will last in the refrigertor up to 2 weeks. Not too many complaints. The fresh carrots were sent past the expire date and they refunded me a whole day of about 15.00 bucks. Sometimes customer service is hard to get a hold of.
ReplyHas anyone om this blog tried the Jorge Cruise 3 hour diet delivery at home? Am seeking good low carb diet delivery service and this seems to be the best for the money.
ReplyI've been on Diet to Your Door (Dr. Cederquist) for a while now, in the first 2 months I lost 14lbs and have kept it off since November. I stopped for a while then restarted at the beginiing of March. When I restarted I couldn't imagine why I stopped as the food is really good. I order the plan through Sam's Club, which allows me to order 2 weeks at once and it is less expensive.
One thing: they've recently changed the name to "Bistro MD", but both the diettoyourdoor.com and bistromd.com addresses work.
R ADLER: diettogo.com offers a vegetarian meal plan at wither 1200 or 1600 calories per day and they deliver nationally.
ReplyI see the 6 week reduced plan on Sam's Club website but it's ALL the food delivered at once (42 days of the FULL plan.)
My concern about this is freezer space. Did you have trouble storing that much food? Do I need more freezer space?
ReplySam's Club offers a weekly service, too, that you can cancel any time. THey hide it for some reason. You need to go to the website and click on the link to Groceries, then Frozen Food, then Diet Meals (it won't just come up if you run a standard search on the site). I've been using BistroMD for several weeks now and the food is really excellent. Some meals are better than others, obviously, but it's usually chicken breasts or turkey with a few fish, beef and/or pork dishes included evert week. The soups are fantastic - loved the spicy gumbo. My biggest complaint is that I thought some of the deserts were too sweet. The meals are frozen but I think food that's cooked fresh and frozen immediately (which this is) tends to hold its nutrients more than food that's just refrigerated and sits in the fridge all week.
ReplyI can't seem to find Bistro MD at the Sam's Club Website. I went to grocery..then freezer.. and from there there is not a link to diet foood. Do I have to join as a member before being able to see all of the products they sell? I'd hate to join just for that to find out they don't offer the service any longer. Please let me know, Thanks!
ReplyI just called BistroMD and they told me they'd discontinued selling their meals thru Sam's Clubs. It's definitely more expensive to get the meals directly from Bistro but - on the plus side - if you deal with them directly, they're able to modify the meals you're sent. I don't eat beef and they replaced my beef dishes with chicken and fish for no extra charge.
ReplyI just got the 1600 calorie vegetarian Diet To Go. Zone was too expensive and had no vegetarian weekly delivery (I am not handing out any duplicate keys to my building!). Diet To Your Door didn't seem very flexible as far as vegetarians were concerned. I received the food today, there are healthy portions and I don't think I'm going to go hungry at all. Tomorrow I get to have waffles with peaches for breakfast, then a black bean feta wrap with guacamole and orange juice and wild rice salad, and eggplant parmesan for dinner. It's also less expensive than the other services. If I had a ton of money and lived in Manhattan I would go with nukitchen, their menu looks amazing.
Replyi have to laugh. silhouette chefs will charge £29-35 for meals per day. i spend £55 for my shopping for an entire month. plus i still have food left over before my next shop. hahahaha!
people in london aren't that busy that they have to spend a bomb on food per day. even the more richer people can get a days worth of meals for less than that, eat healhily and not even have to prepare most of the meals or they can whack one up in the time it takes to re-heat one of those meals. or if they really want to spend money then they'd go to a very good resturant instead. this is not how most people live on a day-to-day basis.
i live in london and if you're paying £12.00 for pasta or a sandwhich then you are a fool with more money than sense. a really good deli or bistro cafe will never charge you that amount of money for either food item. a croissant & pain au chocolate will cost £4.00 for a pack for 4-6 for both items, not for one of each. or maybe £2.00 for 2 pieces of both at a good bakery. what a damn rip-off.
no, londoners aren't that busy. but maybe this company is trying to target extrememly lazy people...in which case i'm not too sure about them eating so healthy. i dont mean that in a horrible way, i find that if you're too lazy to cook or buy a good balanced ready meal or freshly made meal at a shop/cafe, then you are most likely fine eating junk food and ordering take-aways. i used to be one to them, i know plenty more. but hell, if you are very lazy but still want to eat healthy food and you're loaded enough to spend this much on food...then they should totally go ahead with it. at least a good healthy meal is better than a chinese take-away. but it is extortionate and unnecessary.
Reply"Most women receiving Silhouette Chefs™ meals will be consuming 1100-1200 calories daily. Most men will be consuming 1400-1600 calories per day"
hahaha. lol my gosh. i've just seen this. so without any knowledge of a clients fitness level, current weight, age or target weight they draw up a one-size-fits-all very low calorie range? oh dear.
& their testimonials are pretty funny too. i mean, any company who has a testimonial from a male stripper comes across as very very credible indeed.
ReplyI am on a great service in Miami Beach called "Fresh Diet". I think they serve all of South Florida. I get my meals delivered every day. Until I found "Fresh Diet" I was on weekly deivery from "Zone Chefs", the diffrence is un-denyable. Having my food delivered every day as opposed to once a week makes such a huge difference. "Fresh Diet" has great food & great customer service not to mention a 1 of a kind website that allows me to choose my meals. If you live in South Florida I strongly recomend them.
Replywww.thfreshdiet.com
When it comes to "Zone Delivery USA", buyer beware.
I joined the plan (or, so I thought ) two weeks ago, giving my credit card information, address and my food preferences . The Sales representative who took the information down was helpful and the process seemed legit.
ReplyLong story short, the first day of expected delivery, no food was delivered. When I called the customer service department, the same individual who signed me up originally claimed that my name "wasn't in the system". Just two days earlier I confirmed my account and delivery over the phone with the same man. In fact, there seems to be only one individual who answers the phone ( if you're that lucky) for this bogus company. 1-866-DIET-321.
mia....very few restaurants cook health conscious foods, and for the ones that do the average person won't go to the same restaurant all the time. Plus, there's tips you have to pay. Most health conscious...organic & vegetarian restaurants I've been to are quite expensive because they're working with organic foods which very often are much more expensive than non-organic foods. Even the healthy restaurants most often don't cutdown on everything (calories, carbs, sodium, and fat), as they have to cook flavorful food that will keep the customer coming back each week.
I've tried DineWise and didn't really care for it. I've been on NutriSystem, and many of their foods are SO bad that a dog wouldn't eat it, and it's processed with preservatives, and in many cases high in sodium, and the portions are unbelievably small, along with the fact that you have to eat a lot of salads & veggies.
The one program I've found that I absolutely love is BistroMD. I'll agree with you on the price, it's OUTRAGIOUS, at $169 per week with snacks and $149 without snacks. Add in $25 shipping and you've got a very expensive monthly food cost. That said, the food itself is extremely tasty, well-made, conveniently packaged, and easy to cook. The veggies taste fresh and the meats aren't over-cooked, and the low fat sauces and side dishes add lots of flavor. At 1100 to 1400 calories a day, the portions are quite adaquate, as I'm NEVER hungry between meals. I have to buy fruit as a snack between meals, but that's not a big deal as far as money is concerned. The meals are both nutritious & satisfying!
I can't say enough good things about my love for BistroMD. The Customer Support is AWESOME!!! When I have question, my emails are returned promptly, and I almost never have to wait on the phone to speak with anyone, and they always promptly return phonecalls the same day. They have auto-delivery which automatically ships my food out each week, I don't even have to lift a finger to place my order. It's shipped on Monday and I receive it on Wednesday via FedEx. Not bad for $25 shipping.
All-in-all, BistroMD covers all the essential components that I look for in a diet delivery service. I weigh 300 pounds and I've got to lose 120. I've lost 5 pounds in the two weeks that I've been on the program. They say it's possible to lose 2 to 3 pounds a week on their diet. I'm very happy with my results sofar.
BistroMD will be my menu plan for a longtime. I figure it will only take me a year to lose my weight, and with exercise it may take even less time. I hope this answers many of your questions about BistroMD.
ReplyAllOneVitamin,
ReplyAre you still on BistroMD? I've been on it since Feb 2nd, 08 and have lost 26 pounds, but their service in the last month is really bad. I didn't get my food yesterday which really sucks since I've on the West coast.
Good luck with your weight lost.
Loving BistroMD
Correction: Where I stated in my last post that you have to "eat a lot of salads & veggies" on NutriSystem, what I meant to say was that you have to go to the store and buy your own salads and veggies. That means more money and more prep work in the kitchen.
With NutriSystem, you get what you pay for, it's cheap to buy & that's exactly what you receive regarding the food.
I stated in the NutriSystem forum that I was going to go back on that program, but how can I possibly leave BistroMD with all the love I have to their food & company as a whole.
ReplyAnd just one more thing for all disbelievers in diet delivery programs because of the cost of many of these meal plans. For me, BistroMD is an investment in my health & wellbeing so that I can live a long and healthy life. It's WELL worth the cost, because in the long run when I've lost all of my weight that I need to lose, I'll be much happier & physically and emotionally healthy. I'll be able to shop at normal stores, start dating again with confidence, and I'll be able to engage in many different forms of exercise that I am currently unable to do because of my weight.
BistroMD is a win/win situation all around in every aspect of my life. I HIGHLY-RECCOMMEND this meal delivery weight-loss program for achieving YOUR weight-loss goals and achieving physical & emotional stability, confidence in social situations, and overall peace of mind knowing that you're taking positive steps to change YOUR life.
Peace & Be Well Everyone!
ReplyDid Zone Diet twice. Food is fine. Lost the weight. Delivery is NOT dependable. Live support is a challenge to get. When they missed days, I was left with no alternative delivery on those days. Also got a duplicate order over a weekend, again with no alternative available. When they fix this, I'd be willing to try again.
ReplyI was very pleased with The Zone Diet service. The food was delicious, and the delivery was perfectly reliable.
My experience with The Zone Diet delivery service took place in 2001 in Long Beach, California, so it might well not reflect their current service. However, here it is, for what it's worth.
While I was recovering from a planned minor surgery, I had The Zone Diet daily delivery service for over a month. (I had planned to order two weeks of service, but they offered some financial incentive to order 30 days, so I went for it.) I chose to have food delivery because I knew I wouldn't be up to shopping or preparing meals for many days, and I wanted good nutritious food that would help with my recovery without causing me to gain weight. I removed all the junk food and snacks from the house beforehand, too.
The Zone food was delicious and plentiful, and the delivery was perfectly reliable. The cheesecake dessert was amazingly good, and there were days that I didn't even eat all the meals and snacks (three meals and two snacks). It arrived each day at about 5am (little later on the weekends).
I think it is a good great option for busy single people whose monthly food expenses are fairly high, anyway. a lot of us find ourselves eating out at restaurants find themselves eating out a lot and/or spending a lent food and normally eats out at restaurants a lot, butis wants If I still were in the favorable financial position I was in at the time, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
ReplyMy experience with The Zone Diet delivery service took place in 2001 in Long Beach, California, so it might well not reflect their current service. Also, I believe there is more than one company offering home delivery of Zone Diet meals, so our experiences might be with different companies, in addition to possibly different years and/or geographic areas. However, here it is, for what it's worth.
While I was recovering from an injury, I had The Zone Diet daily delivery service for over a month (I had planned to order two weeks of service, but they offered some financial incentive to order 30 days, so I went for it). I chose to have food delivery because I knew I wouldn't be up to shopping or preparing meals for many days, and I wanted good nutritious food that would help with my recovery without causing me to gain weight. I tossed out all the junk food in the house so I wouldn't be tempted by it.

The cheesecake dessert was amazingly good, and there were days that I didn't even eat all the meals and snacks (three meals and two snacks). It silently arrived at my door each day at about 5am (little later on the weekends) and was waiting for me when I woke up.
I was very pleased with the food and the service, and, were I still in the favorable financial circumstances I was at the time, I would have such a food delivery service every day!
ReplyMy mother who is 54yrs old and not the kind of person to spend a lot of time planning meals nor is she someone who likes to try new foods started the 3 hr diet about a year ago and has lost over 65lbs without any exercise. She bought the book and set me mind to it. She said she was never hungry and thought the diet was very easy.
ReplyYou are quite and enthusiast Edie. If I were you and have had so many problems with them, I would never try the Zone Diet again.
I've heard Diet To Go is good - I've read many positive opinions about it from people who have really lost weight with it. I've visited and read everything on their website. Truly deserves to give it a try.
ReplyFirst week on BistroMD and I have been very impressed with the taste of the food. I have tried Jenny Craig and Nurisystem and all I can say is you get what you pay for. I also believe the cost is high, but this is an investment in myself, a number one priority......my health!! If you can't stick to something because you struggle eating the food, your are sure to fail. With BistroMD I feel I can stick with the program and will finally achieve success.
ReplyLet us not forget the company that has been doing this the longest... 5 squares ... www.5squares.com - services New York, Fairfield County, CT, South Florida.
ReplyI totally agree with Edie. Zone Diet now called ChefsDiet has completely unreliable delivery, and impossible to reach customer service. There sales dept is extremely agressive too - when I couldn't get a return call regarding an entire weekend of missed deliveries I did get sales calls all weekend on my cell phone asking me to renew beginning at 8am on both Saturday and Sunday - STAY AWAY!!!
