Eating Healthy: Government Style
Conventional state-sponsored nutrition guidelines have failed us. So what now?
- Does anyone seriously believe that government-mandated diet guidelines have made one iota of difference to our eating habits (except to make us eat more sugar)?
- How many different state-funded bodies in how many different countries have repeated the same-old nutritional guidelines over the years? And now we find those same authorities panicking at an obesity crisis.
- Does anyone actually know what a "serving" of food is? Does anyone put their fresh, steaming, greasy pizza on the scales and calculate if they are getting the correct servings of carbohydrates, oils, and dairy?
On this fact sheet on healthy eating from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) - is the logo of Wendy's Hamburgers... "this fact sheet is sponsored by Wendy's" says the small print.
And what about the ADA? With alarming detail, Regina Wilshire describes how the ADA has pretty much failed its mandate:
After decades of research time, millions of dollars, and billions of manhours - the ADA has not only failed find a solution to prevent diabetes, it is also currently unable to curtail the epidemic of diabetes.Basically, they haven't really been able to figure out the best nutrition-based approach - so go take more medication.
Dogma and Orthodoxy
The Diet Cast adds to the growing furore over orthodox nutrition:
...politicians think they can use nutritionists to bang us over the head and tell us to smarten up. A, a point I’ve made a few times, the obesity crises is exaggerated, and B, anything other than a largely vegetable and fruit based diet won’t get us out of the mess we’re in.What is the answer?
If you had two minutes of fame to help the nation eat better - what would you say?

In the late 1800's, a Russian researcher set out to prove that cholesterol and animal fat is bad for you. He fed rabbits the human equivalent of a quart of animal fat (lard or butter) a day. After 3 months of this, he dissected them and found their arteries corroded. They had lesions and arterial schlerosis. From this, we decided that cholesterol was bad.
However, rabbits aren't designed to eat animal fat, are they? Wouldn't it be better to try an omnivore like us, like a rat? That's exactly what another researcher did down the road when he saw the Russian research. He completely duplicated the experiment, except that he used rats. At the end of the 3 months he looked inside the animals' arteries. No damage whatsoever.
We are different from rats, of course, but we are much more different from rabbits. Razwell, I have to say I agree with you. The lipid hypothesis is gradually losing ground, even among doctors now.
ReplyCHOLESTEROL DOES NOT AND CAN NOT CAUSE CORONARY HEART DISEASE. HUMAN ATHEROSCLEROTIC LESIONS RESEMBLE SCABS AND ARE COMPRISED OF FIBEROUS SCAR TISSUE, SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS, MAINLY. CHOLESTEROL MAKES UP VERY LITTLE
THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY IS MEDICAL QUCKERY OF THE FIRST ORDER.
LDL IS IRRELEVANT TO CORONARY HEART DISEASE. FISH OIL WAS SHOWN TO LOWER MORTALITY IN RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIALS AND GUESS WHAT IT ALSO RAISED, RAISED LDL SO MUCH FOR THE NONSESNE CHOLESTEROL THEORY . TALK TO ANTHONY COLPO ABOUT IT ON HIS FORUM www.google.com
ReplyCOLPO'S FORUM EXCERCISE TYPE IN ALSO LOOK UP THE LYON DIET HEART STUDY IT UNDERSCORES WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL&*&* THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY IS. WWW.THEOMNIVORE.COM

ReplyAnthony Colpo's book "The Great Cholesterol CON " is a must read book that PROVES TO ANYONE WHO READS IT THE LACK OF SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT BEHIND THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY
ReplyOTHODIXY CAN ONLY IGNORE IT AND HOPE IT GOES AWAY BECAUSE GUESS WHAT??? THEY CAN NOT REFUTE IT. IT EXPOSES THEM
ReplyONCE AGAIN THE LYON DIET HEART STUDY ONE OF THE 18 CLINICAL DIETARY INTERVENTION TRIALS WHICH ALL DO NOT SUPPORT THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY, HAS SHOWN LARGE REDUCTIONS IN MORTALITY WITHOUT WITHOUT ANY CHANGES IN LIPID PROFILES

THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY THRIVES ALTHOUGH IT LACKS ANY SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT BECAUSE IT IS VERY PROFITABLE, POLITICALLY CORRECT, AND RESERACHERS HARM THEIR LIVELIHOODS WHEN THEY SPEAK OUT AGAINST IT
ReplyWonderful darling! Very imspirational and acurate! Very good if u want to loose wait. Head over heals 100%!!

ReplyEating well costs more and a lot of folks are struggling to stretch their dollar as it is. Whole grains, more raw foods, a small amounts of protein with each meal and drinking water instead of soda is a good start. Following the recommended portion size on the package is a simple way to lose weight. Portions are way too large in this country. Limit fast and processed foods to once or twice a month. Order a kids meal instead of the super sized ones. :-)
