Carmen Electra and the NV Weight Loss Pill
It's called NV (as in envy) and is proudly advertised as the "First Rapid Weight-Loss Beauty Pill". NV have signed up actress and model (and, erm.., singer) Carmen Electra as their new spokesperson.
This surely is the mythic essence of marketing - get the 'perfect' body just by taking a pill. And because we all like instant gratification - NV is not just any pill - but a rapid weight loss and beauty pill. Couple it with a silicone-enhanced model and take out a national TV and print advertising campaign.
"NV™'s unique three complex formula is a simple way to enhance a woman's figure, radiate beauty and increase energy," said Electra. "I can identify with a woman's desire to make her outer appearance match her inner glow, which is why my secret to maintaining my looks, energy and confidence is NV™.The 'three complex formula' comprises a weight-loss, beauty, and energy blend.
The weight-loss complex is made up of green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, and theobromine. The exact proportions are unknown because it is a proprietary blend (total 267mg). While green tea extract and hoodia may have some validity regarding fat loss, often this depends on the quality - and as Will Brink puts it (via About Supplements):
The truth is that high-quality green tea extracts containing high levels of active compounds are expensive and rarely used in the cost-conscious supplement industry.Theobromine is a stimulant, and I am unaware of any weight loss effect.
The company behind the pill (nxCare) is like many others in the nutraceutical business - dubious credentials, and a few men getting rich.

I usually take my 1st pill around 7:00am before I leave the house and then I eat breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30. (You suppose to take the other pill six hours later.)
I take my lunch break between 12:00 and 12:30 so that is right on time so I take the other pill about 1:00 (after I have eaten lunch.

ReplyI'm not a physican so I can't say if NV will harm you. The only thing I can ask is how does your body deal with caffine. But to be honestly with you....your weight should be fine since you are 123lbs now and trying to get to 113lbs (don't you think that maybe too skinny)everyone needs a little meat on their bones. I bet alot of us would say I wish I was 123lbs I wouldn't worry about losing any weight!!!!!! But I do understand ...only you yourself see it that way!!!!!

How long does it take for the pill to kick in? This morning was my first time taking it and I still feel tired and hungry. :P Maybe I'm just too anxious, I'll give an update on my results next week.

I am not a morning person at all. I get up around 6:30am. I'm still half sleep till at least 7:45. Keep in mind I take my pill around 7:00a.m....go figure!!! :)
I have not had any coffee (okay maybe 1 cup) in the last week because I didn't need it!!!! before then I had to have a cup EVERYDAY to get going.

ReplySaundra- yes NV is perfectly safe to take with birth control, or any other hormonal treatments. Yet if you are on any meds for ADD or ADHD, or depression medications or anxiety meds, while they won't react badly (i.e. hospitalization) your chances of experienceing headaches, jitters, or heightend pulse/bp goes up.. again those thimgs can be controled as well just take it with a little food and plenty of water, avoid caffie. hope that helps :)
ReplyI got the pills tonight, and honestly i dont feel a thing? and i took the whole pill is it because i took it at night and your suppose to start taking it in the morning? i dont have any energy right now, and my body is use to alot of caffeine because of the excessive amounts of coffee i use to drink do you think thats why its not really kicking in? gosh i hope i just didnt waste my money on these pills i couldve gotten a cute top instead :) haha

ReplySaundra, I can't comment on NV specifically but I'm sure if you looked into alternative forms of birth control, as in, anything else not loaded with artificial hormones, you'd find it much easier to lose the 20lb. You might even lose them without any diet pill or even without much of a diet.
Sorry to pry, I just think that the pill has many more negative side effects than the medical establishment admits.

Replyi have two kids and im 5'1 and weigh 126 pounds.i went to gnc just looking to find something to lose 10 pounds.he told me about nv.i took it today and i had energy like i couldnt believe.me and my kids danced and played without me getting tired. i definitely curbed my eating completely.im a big fast food junkie and today i wasnt even interested in eating anything fried. ill keep u updated.

Yes proactiv does work! I am living proof of that! But what I have found is something cheaper but with the same ingredients...It's called Klear Action. $20 found a t walgreens and it last a month. This is heaven sent to those of have acne but don't want to pay a bundle!

This weight loss pill is dumb, I advise you NEVER take it. It was so bad for my health that I have ended up in the hospital with the result of three strokes. They are extremly bad for your health and a normal diet is the way to go.

ReplyDONT WASTE YOUR MONEY i have been taking it and havent had any energy whatsoever no weight has come off other than the usual one of two pounds. im all for the easy way out of things, but i guess there really isnt a easy way out of loosing weight might as well do it the right way and just eat and work out right id recommend you to not waste your money seriously
ReplyI actually took it, and though it wasnt any magic pill, it did help with the weight a little, but it deffinately did make my skin look good. its worth a shot, but I'm giving the cheaper vitamin E rout a try. =P
ReplySo, this is my first day of taking NV and I must say I definately feel a lot more energy almost immediately. the only thing is that I'm getting this pain in the left side of my chest. It's really scaring me. Usually caffeine doesn't even affect me at all. Energy drinks, soda, and coffee don't really bother me, but this pill is making my chest hurt. I'd appreciate anybody's input.

I just bought NV last night at Wal-Mart ... it took me a minute to find it because it was literally the last one in stock!! lol - So it came with 30 pills I gotta take twice a day - I just took my first pill about 20 minutes ago around 9:10AM I will be taking the second one I guess around 2 because 3 is way too late
I have always been the "skinny" girl until about 2 years ago - both my parents are overweight and my sister struggled with weight when she was in highschool so i was always the SKINNY one in my family - I am extremely short I am about 5'2 and I weigh about 126 lbs - my "normal" weight should be 115 lbs no lower than that . I used to be about 120 for a while and it never went over that EVER, and when it did I was like I really need to dosomething becacuse I am not getting any taller (I am 20 years old) My thighs are HUGE, and just my legs in general dont have any definition. I dont necessarily go to the gym and work out but I am a college student and I spend a lot of time walking ... also my stomach is starting to get big so hopefully NV will help my situation. I also have a lot of trouble getting up in the morning

ReplyI think that, along with any weight loss suppliment that you take...diet and exercize ARE NEEDED to loose weight, this pill helps with the cravings, and I am one of the people who take this pill because it also has beauty suppliments in it so you don't have to take a million other pills along with it. I have lost weigt using the pill to control my cravings rather then having it for the fat burning. I also watch what I eat and excersize twice a day. I went from 145lbs, and now I am at 118lbs!

I have been using NV for a little while, I work out by doing Yoga, stretching, LOTS of crunches, exercise ball, and running on the weekends. Keep in mind that I drink PLENTY of water...that fills me up so I don't eat as much. I cut out all my junk food intake, cut down a majority of my carb and sugar intake....the weight will just fall off!

ReplyI have never really plummeted into a huge weight gain before. & it wasnt until this year that i started noticing none of my clothes would fit, and the scale had said i gained 15 pounds out of no where. I've been addicted to junk food lately and i'm a major stress eater. i was just looking for something to surpress my appetite for a few days just to jump start me into losing a few pounds while kind of weening me off the junk food. the rest i'll probably be able to do myself. i just need a jump start to motivate me. i bought the pills last night..so i will be back in a few days or so to keep anyone interested updated. :)

From what I've read recently, no pill works, only diet & exercise.
And, why do they always get some georgeous thin person to be a spokesperson for diet products? That makes no sense to me at all!!
It is called marketing people.....They want you to buy because you see a person that you want to look like....If they had a fat person as a spokesperson then you wouldn't buy the product...duh! This is not rocket science...
ReplyI use this pill...it works for me. No pill that you buy is a miracle pill in the first place. You need diet and excercise NO MATTER WHAT! This pill just helps speed up the process...and if you are so against diet pills, then why are you on this diet pill web-site in the first place?????
Hello, I have not updated in awhile. I began taking NV mid Nov. I started at 144 and am now 134. I have been eating healthy, but not on a strict diet. The first month I was taking two pills a day. Now I only take one in the morning. I do think NV was to blame for my weight loss. Without it I don't think I would have lost any weight, maybe even gained because of the holidays. I will continue taking a pill a day until I feel I look my best, so I don't really have a goal weight in mind.

Hey, Well let's not beat it out of our system just yet. I bought it this week and today is my test run. I guess I'm the most honest it's gonna get if you have to compare me to Carmen Electra's honesty. I dont think the pill is going to do much for her either. I am a heavy set girl and well like I said today is the 1st dat of me trying it out. I do exercise a lil and well I eat okay. ReplyOk, So, i got the pills today and after some research, deceided to give them a try starting tomorrow. I have about 25-30 lbs i would love to lose, but 15 i would like to lose. I have a major snaking problem as my stupid office has an unending supply of free snacks, none of which are of the healthiest variety. I exercise in spurts, sometimes logging 30 miles of running in a week to doing nothing at all the next. I really, really, hate drinking water- im not sure why, but i do. I guess i need to get over that! I am a coffee addict and worry that i will either miss coffee so badly that i take it in combination with the pills and my head will subsequently explode leaving brain all over my monitor, or ill be moody and tempramental because i am not drinking it. Any advice to the coffee addict...anyone...bueller? Also, has anyone really noticed a "real" change in hair/nails? I mean, i assume that one would have to wait months until healthier, stronger hair and nails would grow to replace the unhealthy old hair/nails? Also, to those of you who noticed significant weight loss in the first week or so, are you certain that most of it was not water weight in lieu of actual fat loss? Just curious as i am really annoyed and want some significant results!

Now how many of those teenie boppers do you think will be asking their mothers if they can take this pill? Replypeople.. i took this for a couple of days and i felt not a diference just didnt eat much but then the third day came around i kept on telling people man i dont feel good.. and i didnt tell people that i was taking it because they would think im crazy cuz i really dont need to be on these just those extra 10 lbs i see bugs me, but besides the point the day i wasnt feeling good i was on the phone with a friend and kept telling him okay something is wrong with me im getting really dizzy im going to bed so i woke up in the morning and was really dizzy so i decided to take a shower to see if that would help and i got out of the shower my head was spinning and i fainted for about 30 minutes and since i took those i had a feeling of like you know when youre drunk and youre about to throw up it was that and i blacked out soo much when i was on them i would do something in class and then sit down for 5 minutes and not remember i did that thing earlier it was SO odd and now im off them i feel so much better so people please im warning you dont take them just try to do it the health way

ReplyOK, I've been researching diet pills alot recently and NV has got some great reviews. I'm 5'3" and weigh 130lbs. I'd like to loose ten pounds at least. I'm only 18, and don't really need to loose weight, but there is just a little extra fat on my thighs and stomach I'd like to disappear. I'm going to a local CVS tomorrow after class to buy it. I'll keep you all posted with my results.
