Carmen Electra and the NV Weight Loss Pill
It's called NV (as in envy) and is proudly advertised as the "First Rapid Weight-Loss Beauty Pill". NV have signed up actress and model (and, erm.., singer) Carmen Electra as their new spokesperson.
This surely is the mythic essence of marketing - get the 'perfect' body just by taking a pill. And because we all like instant gratification - NV is not just any pill - but a rapid weight loss and beauty pill. Couple it with a silicone-enhanced model and take out a national TV and print advertising campaign.
"NV™'s unique three complex formula is a simple way to enhance a woman's figure, radiate beauty and increase energy," said Electra. "I can identify with a woman's desire to make her outer appearance match her inner glow, which is why my secret to maintaining my looks, energy and confidence is NV™.The 'three complex formula' comprises a weight-loss, beauty, and energy blend.
The weight-loss complex is made up of green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, and theobromine. The exact proportions are unknown because it is a proprietary blend (total 267mg). While green tea extract and hoodia may have some validity regarding fat loss, often this depends on the quality - and as Will Brink puts it (via About Supplements):
The truth is that high-quality green tea extracts containing high levels of active compounds are expensive and rarely used in the cost-conscious supplement industry.Theobromine is a stimulant, and I am unaware of any weight loss effect.
The company behind the pill (nxCare) is like many others in the nutraceutical business - dubious credentials, and a few men getting rich.
Anyone care to try the product?
NV is no longer available new. But you can source older product from eBay.
Hiya! I have been taking it maybe a day or two, I have been having bad heartburn but that could have been cause I have been partying lol. It does work very good though. I am hardly hungry, I eat when it is time to eat but I really am never hungry. I have tons more energy and I haven't even taken two pills a day. I'm gonna take my second today though, I just wanted to see how it would do me first. I'll keep ya posted! :)

ReplyHey all. I have been on NV for a couple of weeks now. I have only lost five pounds, but honestly I never have an appetite and only eat three meals a day (I never excersise though...oops!). My skin is glowing and my hair is healthier then it has been in months...
ReplyHope all of you are doing well...take care and keep the faith.
i did purchase and try . took according to directions and just makes me nauseaus and jittery ......
ReplyI am going to start this NV diet. I am 5'7 and weigh 185lbs. I just had a baby 7 months ago. Yes, I admit, I can be lazy, but having a total of 4 kids can be exhausting. I don't even have the energy to workout.I will let you all know if it works.
ReplyAngel, if you are breastfeeding, please don't take anything at all without a doctor's approval of it.
ReplyHey guys, I need some advice. I'm 18 years old, 5'7" and about 130lbs. I'm not looking to lose much weight, but I have some extra on my tummy that I want to get rid of. I'm thinking 10- 15 lbs. I never drink caffene, so that is what's really making me apprehensive. After reading these posts, I was thinking about only taking one a day, or just talking half in the morning, and the other half 6 hrs later. I exercise regularly, about 4 times a week, and I eat pretty well, but I'm not losing what I'd like to be. What do you all think?
ReplyAm I the only one who actually gained weight on NV?! I gained 3 lbs. in one week. I finally decided to throw out the bottle today - what a waste.
ReplyJust adding to my prior post: I work out 5x a week and eat healthy, so I can't attribute my weight gain to anything other than NV.
ReplyHello just brought a bottle of nv yesterday i was gonna try farenheit but i heard it had hella caffine in it i have tried nv like 3 months ago i pretty much liked it, accidently lost the bottle somewhere while moving "hopefullly i`ll come across if once i unpack hehe" anyway imma keep u guys posted on my progress ... oh yeah good luck to everyone on there weight lost journey. oh by the way check out the "low carb friends"
ReplyI've been on NV since about Nov. 15th. I have had no weight loss. My skin does appear healthier. It's been 2 1/2 weeks. I exercise regularly and have for awhile. Has anyone taken NV and not lost weight on it right away? When would you give up?
Thanks.
Reply3rd update guys. i started nov 11 and i have lost 9 lbs so far. :)
ReplyHow long did it take you to lose that much weight ME?
ReplyI'm starting the product tomorrow. I'll give it a try for two months and if I see results, I'll let you know. I'm not one for taking diet pills but I need a boost. Sounds like this is exactly what I need. Plus, I've a problem with my hair growth so I've got double trouble. Stay tuned!
ReplyHi, I just started NV a few days ago. So far, my cravings are definitely suppressed. After 2 babies, want to lose 30 lbs. Just a word of caution, I recently had a sleepless night attributed to NV + too much diet coke (3 in 1 day). Be aware of the caffeine or you won't sleep well. Also, don't take it too late in the day. I usually have sugar cravings, but NV has helped diminish them. Now that it is after Thanksgiving, back to moderate workouts, so will keep you all posted on my weigh-ins and my results. Hopefully, we can share good insights and provide support/advice in our journey. Be well! I'll stick to NV for now.
ReplyJan not to worry, I am not brestfeeding.
ReplyGood luck with the NV then, Angel. :)
ReplyI have recently started using nv, and using the stew smith workout guidelines, which you can also use if you feel up to it http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13190,Smith_051904,00.html
I have already seen great results in my body,my skin, and my hair, in just a matter of 2 weeks.
But try out that workout plan, its alot work.. but it has really been fitting my body.

ReplyHi there! After reading many posts and researching the product, I went to Walmart and bought it yesterday. I am looking to loose 10-15 lbs. and with the holidays approaching, I need some help. I took my first pill this morning. I didn't feel different (no headaches or jitters), but I did notice a difference in my appetite. I only ate half of my lunch! Now it is almost 3 and I am debating on taking another pill. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who only takes one a day? What time do you take it? Do you think it would be better for me to take half of one in the morning and then the other half in the afternoon? Thanks for the information. I don't think people realize how helpful this blog is!
ReplyHello All~
Im so confused, I've read website where they say NV doesnt work and that its just a scam but I've read site where they are saying that it really works and that it's a great product. So im not sure on rather or not I should buy it, I do plan on working out 30mins 5 days a week and cutting down on my portion size. So with those things in mind do u guys think the pill will work 4 me. Please give me ur opinions.
ReplyWe are in the preliminary stages of a potential claim on behalf of consumers of SlimQuick and/or NV by NxCare. Anyone who has taken either or both of these products can contact me at winstonamelia@gmail.com for more information. Thank you!
ReplyHey guys! So I've been taking NV for about a week now, and I already can tell a difference. Abs, I only take one a day...half at 6:30 AM, and the other half at 12:30 PM. I am in the same boat, where I only want to lose 10-15 lbs, and this seems to be working great! More 2 luv, this product doesn't work for everyone, but it's definately working for me. Combined with a low calorie diet and exercise, I really do think it works. Good luck everyone! : )
ReplyHey everyone =) I didn't do a update on my second week because I started my period and I wasn't about to weight myself when I was all bloated, hehe..I'm sure you girls understand that. Well anyway I'am through with that and today was the first day of the start of my 4th week. I've lost a total of 11 lbs in 3 weeks. NV has worked great for me from the start, and is continuing to do so. I have been eating healthy, about 1200-1500 cal a day, and working out 30 min. a day, 7 days a week. I have no cheated once (though its been temping!) Anyway, just giving a update..Happy Holidays!
ReplyIt is important to note that there are many scams out there. Only some hoodia gordonii products are legit but they do work well for many people.
ReplyHello all! I have read all the posts and they are all amazing! I want to try NV but I think I will wait until after Christmas due to all the "feasting" that goes on! I am glad for those of you that have lost weight and keep up the good work. I have been on Weight Watchers and I did loose 12 pounds on that so I want to get back on that and get into the habit of exercising and loosing weight again. I felt better but needed more energy cause I am a full-time student/worker so there isn't much time in my day for everything. But, after the holiday I am going to buy NV and get back into WW and hopefully the pounds will dissapear faster than with WW alone! I do hope that it helps with sweets cause I am addicted to sweets! I also work in a restaurant so I am always snacking on something which adds up. It's funny that you don't think about how a fry here or a piece of cheese there will do damage, but I know it does. Also, being a student I have to get food on the go like fast food which isn't healthy at all. So I can't wait for the results when I get on NV and I think this site is helpful to everyone. Keep up the good work all and keep people posted!
ReplyHello Girls!!
I just bought NV today - I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I do not consume much caffeine anyways so I am afraid this will make me jittery - would you suggest starting at only pill a day (1/2 am 1/2 pm)? I was also wondering if this product will interfere with birth control pills? I want to lose a considerable amount of weight, but don't really have a goal date or anything so I'm not going to go crazy! So far this blog has been so helpful - all of you are awesome!!!
Thanks much!
Sarah L
ReplyThe only real weight loss supplement that EVER worked was something containing ephedra, and we know what happened to that ingredient.
ReplyI lost 20 lbs and went from 36% to 18% bodyfat in only two months while using ephedra and yes I did diet and exercise quite a bit, but I would never have burned fat that quickly had I not taken the supplement. I am in favor of bringing ephedra back. With proper use, it had proved to be a useful supplement for me. As with any supplement, misuse could lead to health problems. But, education is always key. I never had any issues with it.
I started taking NV a couple of days ago, and so far I can't really tell a major difference in how I feel. I was a little concerned about my reaction to the caffeine as I tend to be rather sensitive to it in general, but I haven't felt any different than I usually do...which seems odd to me. As for my appetite, I can't say that I'm completely not hungry all the time, but I have noticed that I am less hungry than I usually am at certain times of the day, especially when I get home from work. I'm not a terrible eater, but I do struggle with making the time to exercise. I typically try to get on the treadmill and walk for 30 minutes about 3-4 times a week or so...but that's a goal I don't always meet. Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else had to be patient before seeing results....I'm not convinced it's a magic pill by any means, but after reading about a million postings where folks claimed to have lost 3-7 lbs in a week, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. Should I just keep it up and see what happens after a month? Anyone care to advise? Thanks!
ReplyARB ~ I started taking it a couple of day ago too and haven't felt any different. I agree that there are times of the day that I am usually hungry, but haven't been. I too got really excited about taking NV after reading all the postings that say they lost like 3 pounds in the first week. It is hard for me to exercise, I work full time and am a full time student at night. Let's keep each other posted on our progress. Good Luck!!

Replyplease advise where can i buy NV in south africa, johannesburg?
Reply*i'm not one to believe in "magic" pills, but..
hey everyone.. i've been using it for about a month and have lost 13 lbs. i was 162 and now i'm 149. i couldve lost more, but some days i didnt eat sensible. the product does work for me, but i have to really watch what i eat. it causes yu to pee alot cuz it gets you thirsty.. no real bad side effects for me. a tip: find out ur suggested calorie intake and then subtract 500 from that and thats how much calories you should be eating per day. 500 calories subtracted from your suggested calorie intake for a week will naturally cause yu to lose 1 pound per week. taking NV speeds up the process. i bet i could lose more if i exercised, but i'm too busy for it. NV does suppress your diet, but because ive been taking it for a while, i think it's not as effective as before.. nonetheless it has significantly helped. THe pill also helps yur skin/hair/nails cuz of the collagen. Due to the excessive weightloss in such a short period of time without exercise, my skin is starting to get flabby.. i need to exercise to fix this, u kno? anyway.. keep inspired and yu can do it! hope this helps.. :)

ReplySarah L - glad to hear that I'm not the only one wondering why I'm not rapidly shedding the lbs. :) When it comes to the scale, I've been hovering in the same range for several months now....I'm basically 183, give or take a few lbs on either side, and would be tickled pink to see that number head in the downward direction. I've only been taking NV for a week and a couple of days now, so I'm not expecting giant leaps forward just yet, but perhaps I'll be rewarded for my patience. I'll be in touch with the progress results!
ReplyI started taking NV 4 days ago and let me tell u I was very nervous!! Only because I haven't ever taken any diet pill because of all the side effects and problems I've heard about. This time was different I looked up the product researched it a bit and finally went for it! Let me just say the first day I took it I had a lot of energy,no cravings and I felt great!! The only down side to the pill for me was the nights I felt very anxious before bed. But I diffinitely would recommend this to anybody who wants to lose weight and feel great and look beautiful!! SO far so good....I'll keep u posted!

I too wonder about the caffeine in the product. I have noticed that even though the product does not make me as jittery as other products that I have taken, yet it does make me feel anxious at times. I even had to change how often I take the product, I take it once a day and that's it. I have noticed some tightness in my chest and a funny feeling in my left arm so, I do not know if it's from the product or what. Has any one else out there experienced any of these very slight symptoms?
ReplyAlso, I would like to know a little bit more about the side effects to this product. I would also like to know how this product affects the heart. Do you know if there is some way I can contact the distributor for this information.?
I began taking NV on the 14th of Nov. My weight was 143 lbs. I've been on it a little over a month, and have lost down to 140 lbs.(and its all been during the holidays). I'm not sure if the NV has helped control my food intake or if I'm trying a little harder than I give myself credit for, but either way, I love my nails. They look great!
I'm a big coffee drinker, so the caffeine hasn't bothered me. I'm not a medical professional, but to all of you out there having chest pains and funny feelings down their arms (especially the left) - I would quit using NV immediately until I consulted a dr. It sounds like some people have reactions to this product and may be allergic to an ingredient.
Anyway, I'm trying to be patient on the weight loss. I'm pretty good with my exercise (not great, just good), and I'm trying not to eat too horribly. Good luck to all.
Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!
ReplyHey everyone! I hope you all are getting results with the product! I am going to buy it this weekend. I have a vacation coming up in Feb. and I have NOTHING that fits me! I found this site www.webraydian.com/content/view/66/32 that has all these healthy eating tips that I may try along with exercise and proper diet. I know they say green tea helps a lot (it is in NV so that is good) so I plan on buying some of that as I am an avid tea drinker. Well, I hope to get rid of some excess weight gain with NV and other diet changes. I hope you all are going to have a great holiday. Merry Christmas to all of you and be safe!
ReplySosha- hello to answer your question about the side affects I have not experienced any like what you mentioned but, I did read the brochure on the pills and the warnings stated chest pain, headache, irregular heart beat, dizziness and nausea. I agree with Dawn if anyone is experiencing any of these symptoms they should consult their doctor or also could just be anxiety!Well good luck to all and hopefully this pill jumpstarts a great beginning for us all! Merry Christmas and God Bless

I have to admit I was sucked in by the promises of this pill and I truly love it. I have taken it for a couple of months and find it a great source of energy to aid in exercising. It absolutely helps to stave off food cravings and hunger and actually helped my nails grow longer and stronger. I did notice a little jittery feeling at first like I had drank too much coffee which I got used to. I am an Atkins follower and excercise regularly and when I introduced NV it gave me that extra oomph I needed to get closer to my goal. One simple pill can't do it alone but I found it a great supplement to my own program. Big fan and would highly recommend :-)
ReplyHi everyone I just started using NV two days ago. My initial weight is 160 lbs. I used to be really skinny 110 lbs but my thyroid is not functioning properly so right now I am trying to loose at least 40 lbs I think 120 lbs is a healty weight for me. I am 5'5" so far I have noticed that NV has really curved my appetite. I will keep everyone posted with progress. Please wish me luck and good luck to everyone else!!
