Carmen Electra and the NV Weight Loss Pill

It's called NV (as in envy) and is proudly advertised as the "First Rapid Weight-Loss Beauty Pill". NV have signed up actress and model (and, erm.., singer) Carmen Electra as their new spokesperson.

This surely is the mythic essence of marketing - get the 'perfect' body just by taking a pill. And because we all like instant gratification - NV is not just any pill - but a rapid weight loss and beauty pill. Couple it with a silicone-enhanced model and take out a national TV and print advertising campaign.

"NV™'s unique three complex formula is a simple way to enhance a woman's figure, radiate beauty and increase energy," said Electra. "I can identify with a woman's desire to make her outer appearance match her inner glow, which is why my secret to maintaining my looks, energy and confidence is NV™.
The 'three complex formula' comprises a weight-loss, beauty, and energy blend.

The weight-loss complex is made up of green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, and theobromine. The exact proportions are unknown because it is a proprietary blend (total 267mg). While green tea extract and hoodia may have some validity regarding fat loss, often this depends on the quality - and as Will Brink puts it (via About Supplements):

The truth is that high-quality green tea extracts containing high levels of active compounds are expensive and rarely used in the cost-conscious supplement industry.
Theobromine is a stimulant, and I am unaware of any weight loss effect.

The company behind the pill (nxCare) is like many others in the nutraceutical business - dubious credentials, and a few men getting rich.

Anyone care to try the product?

NV is no longer available new. But you can source older product from eBay.

I just bought NV this morning and I took the first pill around 8:00 this morning and as of right now I feel no different. I need to lose about 15 pounds, how soon will I be able to tell a difference?

I just purchased NV today and I took it at 9am then a half hour later I ate a granola bar....I have to admit that my apetite extremely decreased....I didn't feel the need to eat again until about 12:30 in the afternoon and even then I felt like I could have went longer. But I ate lunch anyway. Usually I like to snack peridically and I can't stop. But I noticed that this really does decrease cravings and apetite and I have a big apetite. I take my next one at 3 and I'm pretty excited. I plan to exercise at least 4x a week 30 minutes a day and improve dieting...cutting out junk foods and sugary sodas and juices...I've only been drinking water since Monday and I feel good about everything.I read alot of you guys reviews before I purchased the pills and I read reviews from other sites and out of them all I'd say 90% of them are positive. In about a week I'll put up another post to update everyone. Good Luck to everyone else!

When I first took NV I got really sick - light headed and I felt very warm. I stopped taking it for a few days - this happened on the first day I took it. I stopped taking two a day and now only take one. When I first started taking it again I felt a little light headed on the first day but now it's better - it does curb your appetite but I'm not sure if I have actually lost any weight.

To be honest I have tried alot of diet pills and the only thing I can say is you need to excercise in order to get results as well as taking the pill. This is the only way. I do believe all diet pills work if you just follow a excercise plan.

Well I've been on the pill a week today. I know I was eating much better and I even got out and walked (jogged) a few times. I do love my energy increase, but I feel like even that has died off a little bit. And sadly I've gained about a lb. Oh and I've been drinking plenty of water - more than enough. I've also noticed that I've been really constipated. Sorry if that's TMI but I just wanted to be honest. I'm going to stick with it though. I've tried different routines of when to take the pill, but I find it's best for keeping my hunger undercontrol by taking the pill first thing in the am, having a very light breakfast about an hr later and then an hr before the next have a small lunch. Then we usually eat dinner around 6. I hope everyone is having better results than me.

You don't need diet pills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so almost everyone here wants to lose weight quickly right? Well then I have the answer just follow these steps

put down the COOKIE lol

Eat to live but don't live to eat
In other words if you don't need it don't eat it there is no reason for you to eat those pastries or burgers from any fast food resturants they are unhealthy and extremely expensive

Get your fat ass up lol n move
Walk, dance, jump, run do something anything just keep it moving

Drink lots of water it has zero cals so there is no reason why you should not drink it

If your gonna eat don't eat like a fat ass know what you are eating read labels and find out and keep it small and simple don't binge on high calorie foods...... fruits and veggies will do just fine since they are negative calorie foods

This Works for me I'm 5 1 and 106lbs and the weight keeps going down soo u don't need any diet pills stop being LAZY AND GREEDY

xomiss, I cannot believe how rude and insanely ignorant you are. My god, its people like you who make overweight people like me not want to do something for themselves because you are so ridiculous. To all those who are not ignorant jerks, do what works for you, if you want to lose weight, then you will when you are ready, stay strong and positive, love yourself and if NV works for you as it DOES surpress appetite, then stick to it and see what the possibilities are. As far as xomiss is concerned, go find a new forum, we need strong, positive people who are concerend for all, not the brats who want us overweight people to feel like dirt...and some of our fat asses are loved by those who know us best, not people who have no idea about anything they talk about...
Good luck all NV users...

I'd have to agree with you Niki81....
xomiss...if you're 106 lbs why are you even on this site?
Get ur skinny ass outta here and go to an anorexic forum...this is for people who want to lose weight and are supporting each other. We don't need your ignorant, stupid comments! Not everyone on here eats cookies and is not active. Some people need a boost and a little support. You could have given the advice minus the putdowns.

xomiss, so your answer is "eat nothing but fruits and veggies, or not at all, or you'll be lazy and greedy"? Yep, that is healthy.

dairy is such a major cause of problems, did you know the fda approved growth hormone use in cows that secrete the milk we drink? milk from any animal causes much of the problems common today such as acne, weight gain, stomache and intestinal problems, candida, ear infections, rosacea, parasites, ulcers etc. ....im guessing no one thought of that huh?
I had bad acne, rosacea, constant ear infections, stomache and disgestive problems, an ulcer all of those went away in about 1 month by eliminating all meats except turkey/chicken/fish and ALL dairy including eggs; i also had a parasite cleanse. to date i haven't had a pimple in over 2 months. Weight problems, acne and other similar issues start from the inside guys, and we all know it isnt due to a "lack of NV" I wish someone would have told me all my problems were linked to one food group. Im putting this out there for all of you. Also, for those who said they have a bad metabolism try using spices such as cayenne pepper, chillis, and cinnamon. These have been used for thousands of years by various nations for their amazing health benefits and for the effects the have on the metabolism (most especially cayenne pepper).
There is a reason natural unprocessed foods, spices and herbs were put on this earth, they can only help us.

I'd like to know how old are you? Have you had children? Any serious illness to prevent you from losing? Surgeries? I for one am 45 years old, 5 feet 3 inches and weigh 138 pounds. I've had a complete hysterectomy, lumpectomy and am on pain medicatoin for serious back injury.

I excersice daily eat right and still can not lose the extra weight. I drink a ton of water AND I don't like sweets. I rarely eat breads, pasta or rice!

I believe the ignorance lies with someone who insists on judging people without knowing the whole story. I believe that your own insecurities are the reason you "bash" people.

Everyone needs to ignore xomiss and continue on with their journey, every body is different, every journey takes different routes. Stay strong and believe, believe in yourself!!!

Hey all, so I have been on NV since Sunday morning, I have tried to lower my portions, and I still am not excersising very much ( I know I know I should be, but working part time and being a full tme student is very hard on time...)I drink 5-6 glasses of water every day now and cut back on the sweets. I have lost 4.5 pounds!!! I am so happy. To everyone out there (minus the negative jerks out there) congrats on any small OR large successes you have had. We all should be so proud of ourselves just trying to be healthier.
Luv ya all

Well my friend and I have been taking NV for 3 days now, and we found out the hard way that when you drink alcohol when taking NV, you WILL wake up with a horrible headache. I assume its because of all the fluid you are expelling during the day. Even though we drink tons of water during the day we are also going to the bathroom a ton. Obviously we were totally dehydrated, then drank about 5 beers. I am never hungover after drinking only 5. I will not be doing that again anytime soon, I still dont feel that good. But I have loved how I have felt the last 3 days. It definitely has curbed my appetite and I have lost 3 pounds in 3 days.

I used NV for three weeks now, and I've lost 5 pounds. I was so shocked when I got on the scale yesterday. But I know that I've also started drinking plenty of water, watching what I eat and drink and the sugars etc. SO I think NV may not be the greatest diet fad out there, but it did jumpstart my motivation to keep it up.

Hey people. My last post was on Sunday Nov 5 and I was planning to wait until Saturday to give an update. Actually, I will still wait until then to step on a scale and take new measurements but I wanted to post tonight about a problem that I'm having.

The NV is definitely curbing my appetite and giving me an energy boost so that I can exercise. I have also changed my diet of course, drinking lots and lots of water, eating fresh fruits and veggies as snacks, salads for lunch, low carb/protein-rich dinners. My problem is, when I workout I start freakin out that I'll pass out. It could be paranoia but I think I am feeling a little lightheaded to an extent. I usually drink gatorade or water so that Im properly hydrated during my workout BUT I wait until after the workout to eat (burns more fat). Oh and I take a multivitamin at night once the NV is out of my system.

Is my body not getting the nutrients it needs? I fear that the lightheadedness is my body's way of telling me "whoa, dont do that, you're starving me and if you dont stop I'll drop dead right now." Is it natural to feel a little lightheaded because of a new reduced-calorie diet and exercise regimen?

I just want to say that I tried NV after I stopped nursing my son. I just couldn't get arid of the extra weight and kept eating like I was still pregnant. I got NV before they put out the ads with carmen electra. This pill actually did help me with my energy level and helped me get fuller faster when eating and I felt full for a lot longer. I have recommened the pill to many people I think its great. I went from 160 to 120 and thats without changing what I ate and without exercise. I just chase around my two kids.

Four hours after taking my first (and now last) NV pill, I broke out into an unbelievable rash that is not lessened with antihistimine. I have never broken out with a rash from any other medication or over the counter diet aid. What is in this stuff?

I've been taking the NV pill for almost 3 wks and have lost 11 pounds. It has suppressed my appetite greatly I must admit. But I've also been exercising at least 45min 3x a wk. I think the pill helps to suppress your appetite but it's not a miracle pill that will lose the fat for you. I've read that some did not have to exercise or diet, so who really knows. Also I just had a baby abt 4mths ago. It might be harder to lose baby fat? If anyone has had experience with NV longer then 2 mths pls tell me your story. I am very curious if this really works like it suppose to.

I purchased NV tonight after noticing the commercials with Carmen Electra for the past couple of weeks.

Yeah, Carmen has a good body and it is hard to believe that she would ever need a diet pill to lose any weight. Up until I went on layoff from work, I was the same way. After sitting on my ass for the past month I have gained about 10 lbs and really want to lose it fast.

I don't know if NV really works or not but I believe it is worth a shot. I have lost weight fast on other diet pills in the past so I can't say that all diet pills are a rip-off.

I will let you all know in about 15 days.

Lightheaded Emily....

How much have you reduced your calorie intake? If you aren't taking in enough calories to support your body's functioning and the added exercise you've added, then yeah, you might get lightheaded.

If you haven't cut back calories too drastically and you're getting lightheaded, then I'd stop taking the pills and consult a doctor just to be safe.

I'm so glad I found this site. I'm going to try NV and will probably go to WalMart to get it (it sounds like Walmart sells it the cheapest). I just had a baby 3 months ago and have stopped nursing my son. I need to lose 40 pounds (that's a lot..currently weigh 193) and I certainly need a boost and something to suppress my appetite. I love to read through the movitivating posts so everyone...keep posting. I'll be sure to keep you all updated on my experience as well. Good luck to all!

I have been trying to lose about 15 lbs. for the last month. At first I thought it would be easy, like I could just stop eating junk food and stuff. That didn’t work. So then I started to exercise and diet. I still did not see results. I even gained 2. I am sure I am much healthier, but I would like to be able to see a difference. So today I went out and bought nv. I am a little nervous about taking a diet pill. I keep thinking any minute I may pass out or something. My starting weight is 144 lbs. and I would like to get down to my old weight of 130. I have been encouraged by all of your postings- so please keep them coming. It is interesting to hear how everyone is affected by this product. I was excited to get started, so I took my first pill at 5:00 this evening. My stomach does feel a little weak and I feel a bit dizzy. I wish all of you the best of luck.

WOW What was I thinking? NV plus dieting DONT mix with alcohol. I thought if I'd eat regular all day Saturday I'd be ok to go drinking with my buddies at night but that wasnt the case. Please please be careful everyone, Im pretty fresh outta college where my drinking tolerance was pretty high but tonight I couldnt handle anywhere near my usual limit. Realize that the body will react to any kind of changes in some sort of noticeable way. I even noticed I have a rash on my arm, probably from this week's change in diet. Listen to your body and pay attention and please be careful.

To think that C. Elektra ever needed NV and that if anyone took it, they'd look like her is simply out of hope for a quick and easy fix(and possibly desperation).

And by the way---1-3% of the population will be allergic to proactiv...so, be careful if you decide to take it. I had a horrific month when I tried it.
I suggest: drinking lots of water, eating well, use cetaphil (mild) 'soap', then apply jojoba oil and a mild moisturizer, and stop all of the severe and harsh products that keep the breakout cycle going.

I must admit that I have been a bit more sensitive then usual, but I feel amazing, I have so much energy and I am never hungry, I eat because its meal time, not because I am dying of hunger or bored like before...I have been on for one week today and will report back Wednesday with another weigh in...I have not experienced any rashes, though i am so pale if I even rub my arm I turn red...lol...hope you guys are doing well...

if i only take 1/2 of the pill twice a day, are the results the same as taking 2 pills a day?

Reply

Eve, I take 1/2 twice a day when I don't exercise and I take one twice a day on the days that I do exercise (gives me a great deal of boost). I've been doing that for 2 weeks and I will be increasing to 2 a day soon. But if you feel weird with 2 a day take half in the morning and half in the afternoon and just see how that works for you.

I read through the blogs this morning and thought I would try this product. Like most of you I have tried everything imaginable and thought I would give one more try. Although I get a lot of compliments on my figure from both men and women, I think it is important make sure you keep your weight under control exspecially with the increased risk of health problems. I am currently a mother of 4 and the wife of one great husband who found me even more sexy the bigger I got as I balloned up to 230-270lbs each pregnancy. I am currently 5ft 5in and 203lbs and I want to loose 30lbs (I carry my weight a little diffrant than most) any smaller and I will look cracky. But I thought I would keep you all updated for anyone who is interested.

God Bless,
Church Lady

I took an entire bottle of NV and while it gave me energy and did curb my appitite I gained 3 pounds. I really liked the way it made me feel though. I have always said on this blog that everyone's body is different and each reacts differently to medications.
I'm 5 foot three inches and weighed 138 pounds. I had a parent of one of my students tell me I was fat! (she's aboutn 5'2" 230 lbs.) I was devestated!!

I stopped taking NV went on South beach and have lost 5 pounnds in the first week. I'm never hungry and I don't miss the CARBS. On the 20th I will be adding them back in. Anyway, I do like NV and the way I felt while taking it unfortunately it didn't work for me.

I love reading these blogs and I'm very happy for those of you who have succeeded on this product.

I took NV for the first time this morning about 6:15 and then at 7:00 I took armour thyroid and I had some blurring of my vision and started to get a headache, almost like a migrane. I was wondering if anyone has had blurring vision or a headache following NV. I am excited to lose weight but don't want to feel this way. I have to admit I was a bit scared.

I really did not feel right the first day I took the pill. I started on Sunday. Yesterday I felt better, but I still kinda felt like my stomach was unsettled. Today I am feeling fine after taking the morning pill. I will probably only take half in the afternoon. I will say I was also scared after taking the pill the first day because I could really tell I took it--Part of it may have been in my head though.
