Carmen Electra and the NV Weight Loss Pill

It's called NV (as in envy) and is proudly advertised as the "First Rapid Weight-Loss Beauty Pill". NV have signed up actress and model (and, erm.., singer) Carmen Electra as their new spokesperson.

This surely is the mythic essence of marketing - get the 'perfect' body just by taking a pill. And because we all like instant gratification - NV is not just any pill - but a rapid weight loss and beauty pill. Couple it with a silicone-enhanced model and take out a national TV and print advertising campaign.

"NV™'s unique three complex formula is a simple way to enhance a woman's figure, radiate beauty and increase energy," said Electra. "I can identify with a woman's desire to make her outer appearance match her inner glow, which is why my secret to maintaining my looks, energy and confidence is NV™.
The 'three complex formula' comprises a weight-loss, beauty, and energy blend.

The weight-loss complex is made up of green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, and theobromine. The exact proportions are unknown because it is a proprietary blend (total 267mg). While green tea extract and hoodia may have some validity regarding fat loss, often this depends on the quality - and as Will Brink puts it (via About Supplements):

The truth is that high-quality green tea extracts containing high levels of active compounds are expensive and rarely used in the cost-conscious supplement industry.
Theobromine is a stimulant, and I am unaware of any weight loss effect.

The company behind the pill (nxCare) is like many others in the nutraceutical business - dubious credentials, and a few men getting rich.

Anyone care to try the product?

NV is no longer available new. But you can source older product from eBay.

Allison, I have 2 ideas for you to jumpstart your weight loss, with no pills involved: 1. clean up your diet. This means removing a large amount of processed foods you eat, while eating the same amount of calories you're eating. More fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and fewer Luna bars etc (not saying you eat those specifically, but we all rely on some low-cal diet products for convenience, and they always make weight loss harder). 2. Weight training. Start it if you don't already, if you already do it, intensify your routine. Work to failure with heavier weights and lower repetitions (6-10 per set is plenty, no use in staying there lifting a pink weight a million times, when 8 times with a heavier weight gets you a better result). If in doubt, go to http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php - Krista, the site owner, has excellent advice on both weight training and nutrition and it will cost you no money or pose any risk to your health.

I purchased NV a 5 days ago. I have noticed my energy has doubled which is great because I have an 18 month old little girl. I have no side effects especially with the other medication I am taking. I'm not hungry as much as I use to be. "I feel Great". I weigh myself once a week on the scale (every sunday morning) I can hardly wait to see how much I have lost. I can see a change in what I wear already. Who cares if Carmen indorses it and is a thin person . She's smart...."IT WORKS."

I have been taking NV for almost 2 weeks, and I have started to break out alot. Has anyone had this problem. I usually get the occasional pimple every know and then but not like this. I am considering not taking them anymore.

Hey everyone...After reading all these comments I'm really interested in trying NV. I work out a lot and I am a very clean eater and I just cant lose weight so I'm hoping this product can jump start something. My only concern is...after my weight loss is jumpstarted (hopefully!!) and say I lose the 10lbs. I want and then I stop taking the pill...will i gain the weight back? Has anyone been on this and stopped taking it? What happened? I dont want to be on this forever or have to rely on it...im just looking for a little push so any replies would be appreciated! Thankss :)

Jess, if you eat clean and exercise and still can't lose weight, you should really have a checkup with your doctor. You could have a health issue.

I just started taing NV two days ago after seeing positive reviews here. I'm only taking 1 pill a day. I have no side effects. However I don't know if 1 pill a day is enough. Anybody knows?

I guess Anna-Nicole Smith won't be a spokes person for Trim Spa anymore! Did anyone see Annas Mom on T.V.? Well She mentioned How Her Darling Daughter is a Drug Addict and was a Heroin user, Hence The Big weight Loss! She was always fried on interviews! And God Bless Her Son who died. I believe the pills were Anna's and She sort of is responsible for Her Son's Death! God knows She'll be using for sure after that!!! Trim Spa Baby!

Pega, I didn't want to post my results until I was done the first bottle, but I can address your question. I am a very active person who follows weight watchers points. WW has always worked well for me. I lost 2 lbs each week every time I have done it in the past. I did it to lose the weight after having two of my children. This time was different. I only wanted to lose a few lbs as the holidays are approaching. I was at the top of my weight limit that makes me happy. (I was 140 lbs and am 5'7".) When I began WW again a few weeks ago, I followed the pts exactly and was working out 3 to 4 times at the gym and walking around the neighborhood at least once a week. At the gym, I do an hour of cardio. It may be the elliptical, cycling class, aerobics, etc. Two days a week, I do strength training. Each of the weeks doing this, I only lost .5 lbs a week. Yes, I was losing, but I was frustrated at the slow rate. I saw the report on FOX news about NV. I haven't come across any horrible side effects, so I thought I'd give it a try. If it didn't do anything, then I was only out $20. I was worried about taking 2 pills a day due to the caffeine. That would be like having 4 cups of coffee a day. I am used to some caffeine in my diet, but I don't usually have much. I decided to take 1/2 a pill in the moring and 1/2 later that day. I've had NO side effects. I don't feel a great rush of energy, but I'm not dragging either. That says a lot as I am the mom to 3 kids. Two are ages 2 and 3, and I run after them all day. It does seem to curb my appetite, but I already have a reduced calorie diet. I only eat 1250 calories a day max. This past week, I lost 2.5 lbs. I only exercised twice. My sister even had a party, and I did not follow points at all on Saturday. I still managed to be down the 2 and a 1/2. I have no idea what it is supposed to do for my hair and complexion. I don't see any changes. My husband did comment that many of my nails are above my finger pads as this is a VERY rare occurance. I've always had horrible nails. So, I guess it's helping them some. Overall, I'm very pleased. I really don't want to lose much more. I'd like to be down about 4 more. I plan on taking the whole bottle unless I meet this goal first. Then, I will stop. I will report back later with my final results. It is obvious that there are people on here who would never take any of these products. That is fine, and it is your choice. I don't feel bad for trying it. I also didn't take it for any kind of "miracle" help. I wanted to see if it would supplement what I was doing, and it has. For me, I'm glad I tried it and 1 pill a day has been sufficient.

London, Thanks a lot for your input!! I'm so glad to know that! I got a little anxious to see the results yesterday and I took two. And I had trouble sleeping at night. Today I'm down to one again and your post is definitely encouraging!

Hi, thanks London, I started NV an hour and a half ago and I feel the effect of the cafeine. I usually only drink one cup of decaf in the morning. I will try 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon.

I think it's important to know where we are in our life to relate more easily to somebody else, because a 10lbs loss for a 250lbs person is not the same as a 10lbs loss for a 140lbs person and height is also very important.

So....... Here...... I'm a female, 28, 5'6'', 165lbs. I started South beach Diet about 5 weeks ago and only lost 4. Ok, I cheated a little bit but I also can say that my eating habits are entirely different from what they used to be. I cut rice, potatoes, bread and I don't remember the last time I ate pasta. I only eat 1 slice of WW bread a day, with NO enriched flour. I have steps/aerobic/fitness classes 3-4 times a week for an hour to an hour and a half. I feel I'm not losing enough weight for all the efforts I'm putting in. I'm getting married next year so it's a huge goal for me. I never stick to a diet and when I do, like now, I don't see a lot of results. So, I thought, after lots of research, to try NV. I started today and I think I'm only gonna use 1 a day for now. I will try to post my results every week. And hope that the other NV users can do the same.

Question:
How long do one has to wait before or after taking the pill to have a meal ?
For example i take half a pill around 7:00 and usually have breakfast around 8:00 and I plan to take the other half maybe an hour after lunch. Is this ok??? Can I take it right before lunch?

By the way, I had very bad acne until the age of about 25 and tried everything the dermatologist prescribed me, creams that were getting my skin so dry and antibiotics it never worked. My parents paid meds for acne from the age of 12. When I tried Proactiv after 3-4 years of doubts, it cleared my face in weeks. If you haven't tried something don't judge it. I'm not saying NV will work. But I do train and eat well without the pill. So we'll see the results with the pill. If it doesn't work it's just 20 bucks. Like people never wasted 20bucks before......Please.........

Pega, Good luck to you! Please keep us posted with your results. Jud, I take it around 8:00 with 8 oz of water. I usually eat about 1/2 an hour later. It just says to take it on an empty stomach. I usually eat lunch around 12:30 and then I wait until 2:30/3:00 to take the other 1/2. I don't eat again until dinner. I think you could take it before lunch if you wait just a little. It's worked well for me so far. I'm already down a lb this week, and I went out to dinner last night. I didn't over eat by any means, but I didn't worry about using WW points. I zeroed them out last night and started anew this morning. I look forward to seeing where I am by next Monday. Please keep us posted on your progress as well.

By the way, the only stat I left off was my age. I'm 34.

Interesting thing... I haven't lost a pound so far ( it's been 5 days) The scale results even increased a little since I've been eating out with colleagues for two days! However I can fit in one of my old favorite pants!! How encouraging! I'm 5'2'', 123lb, 35. I have a 10 month old baby and I want to fit in my old clothes. I used to be 115lb pre-baby. I've tried running and lost some of it but then I reached the plateau. I was discouraged. but now nv gave me new hope!

London, I think I'll try half in the morning another half at noon too. Right now I'm taking 1 pill in the morning. I do feel my appetite being curbed in the morning. I need a lot of water. But by dinner, I become very hungry. I think taking half for twice a day is a better idea. So I don't get hungry so badly.

Will keep you posted.

Good luck for all of us!

Um You shouldn't talk crap about stuff you don't know... The pill does work and yes they should not have her as a spokesperson but they do work, and Proactiv works! I do know for a fact! I use them and my face looks 20 times better!!!

Hoodia isn't a direct weight loss suppliment- it's an appetite suppressant, so you lose weight in a more typical fashion.

I have not read all of the blogs but from what I read I think that I will purchase this product. I am not put off by Carmen endorsing this product. Indeed she probably never has or never will use NV!!!But, companies have to do what is needed to sell there product. Eg... with pro-active I know a few people that use it and it does work. Alot of celebs got even richer by doing the commercials!!! (that sucks!) With all of the compitition out there companies have to use marketing strategies that work for them.

Carla and bigirl185 please keep us posted and anyone else out there that can keep us updated. I would love to hear how NV is working for you.

I am 24 yrs old, 5'4" and 275 lbs. I am the mother of two and work 40-70 hrs per week so I don't have time to take care of myself as I should. I am always eating on the go and at the wrong times. I agree that good old diet and excercise is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. But, now days people don't really have time to breathe trying to keep up with their bills while celebs and government officials get richer and richer. OK that is a whole other topic!!!!!!!!

Again I would love to hear from Carla or bigirl185!!!!

LIVE LAUGH LOVE!!!

Best Wishes to all!!!!!

Hey, I've been thinking of taking NV. I am glad I read some reviews from real people and read the pros and cons of the product. I think I am going to give it a try. I am 5'7, 162lbs. I'd like to get down to 135lbs..that's my goal. I exercise pretty much daily, the only problem is my eating habits are pretty bad. But I'm hoping this pills claim to boost matabolism/decrease appetite will help me. I'd love to be able to fit into my old jeans.

Do you need to keep taking this pill once you've lost your weight or will it just stay off if you keep doing exercise/balanced diet. I would like to only take NV and then once the weight is gone not have to worry about it coming back right away, as long as I exercise/eat well.

Also does anyone know where it is the cheapest to purchase in Canada? I'm hearing $30 at Walmart, but I'm hoping there is somewhere a bit less expensive.

Jud

Eve, i think you should take half a pill and see the results.

Melissa, I bought it off E-bay, because I didn't find them anywhere else, I'm in Montreal, Quebec. I'm not planning on taking that pill for ever. Once you gain your ideal weight, your body will probably be use to eat less. And it's not a miracle pill so, you will also have to put some efforts in it, by eating healty. I think it as an extra boost. It gives you more energy when you exercise, i think.

Hey y'all! I have been hearing a lot about NV, and found this blog while searching on google to see if the hype was true. I have been dieting for (well really my whole life) but seriously since about last april and have gone from 126 to 105, but I am back up to 110. I was a size 29 and now am a size 25 (which is like a 0!!) Although I don't consider myself fat, I am not as slim as I would like to be. I count calories and exercise but I tend to binge because I get so hungry. I would love to have the extra energy (I have to drink coffee all day as well as diet cokes to get through my classes) and especially the appetite suppressent! I know that this is not going to magically melt off pounds, but every little bit helps. On the subject of Carmen Electra, I know that like all other public figures she does feel pressure to remain slim and the reason she decided to endorse this product is because she herself has found it to be a wonderful diet aid. Anyone who says that she does not diet and exercise and looks the way she does effortlessly is kidding themselves. Celebrities have to work at their weight just like everyone else. She just never let herself get to a point where she had weight to lose. This helps her maintain her slim figure. Oh and I am 19 year old college student who is 5.2. I have a very small frame and would like to weigh about 95 or 100 pounds. I hope that NV can help put my binging habits at bay and help me lose those last ten or fifteen pounds!

Hi Girls!! Im going out to purchase the pill today and will start with it tomorrow morn. Im really excited and am thankfull that everyone has had a pretty good experience. I lost 50 pounds about 4 years ago and have gained 20 of them back these past few months. Im ashamed because I feel like all my hard work was for naught, but I hope this pill can help me get my diet in order. I've
tried other pills (hydroxycut, zantrax 3 and others) but they made me feel a little crazy and zantrax doesnt really work. I would love to have the same success as many of you. Any advice????

I am extremely vunerable to caffine, so I was weary about NV. I was 5"8 and 145, and i wanted to loose about 15 pounds. I've been on NV for a week now, the first four days I was taking 2 pills a day and felt very jittery and had trouble sleeping. Still, I lost 8 pounds efertlessly. Since then I've been taking half a pill twice a day, am sleeping better, and the weight is still coming off. In one week I've lost 10 pounds. I give it a mixed review, it undoubtedly works for weight loss, but it's not for you if caffine bothers you.

I just started NV. I'm so glad to find this blog because there really isn't a "results" page like most diet products. I took the pill at 8 am and it's now 11 am - Had a granola for breakfast around 9:30. I feel awake but not jittery, which I love. I plan to keep my results posted every so often, so starting out I weigh 191 I'm 5'4. I carry most of my wt in my midsection.

For those that have been on it awhile, I would love to hear your results!!! And your schedule. I know you are supposed to take on an empty stomach, but after the first one how soon should you eat some kind of breakfast?
Thanks
Audrey

I purchased NV about.. i dont know maybe a week ago and based on the instructions i've only taken maybe 5 pills but only every so often, the instructions say to take a pill with a full glass of water before breakfast on an empty stomach then again 6 hours later on an empty stomach.. now i'm big on weight loss pills (i've taken Relacore and water pills) and i normally follow them everyday, but i'm also not a fan of taking any medication on an empty stomach, so i'm not sure how well it works but i do know it gives me incredibly energy for a long time...

and as for the proactive comments, i too use it and i think its great, i've used it off and on for years and its never really fully cleared up my face but has kept my acne at bay and keeps my face soft and smooth, i would definitly recomend it

I just bought NV today and am pretty excited. I'm a Hydroxycut, Xantrex, and Fahrenheit veteran so I don't know how much it will affect me. I haven't found anything since Hydroxycut with ephedra that has given me more edge in my workouts. I'd like to hear more of all your progress though! I put this board in my favorites so I can check it regularly. Good Luck all! Let's see how it goes! :)

Hi guys...first of all Lu_pevensie, this is not a CE bashing site, this is the internet, go find a site that does bash if you feel you need to and leave this to the NV product and the pros and cons people have found with it.
Hey guys, my name is Niki and unlike some of our guests here, I did hear about NV because of Carmen Electra and no I do not believe for one minute that she actually takes it, but I have also seen on the commercials the before and after pics of people who are not famous. I know someone who has taken another kind of pill with hoodia and they lost a crap load of weight, so I figured, NV - why not??? My boyfriend did some research and this pill seems to be okay with no really harmful, addictive products in it. I started it today (Nov. 5th) and will update every week for you. I am currently 182 pds and 5'3. I carry the weight well, but I am tired of being this heavy, thankfully I have an amazing support team so this hopefully will not be to hard.
Anyone who wants to chat, use this forum...see ya next week!

Hi Nikki,
You sound like your situation is very similar to mine. I've on NV for almost a week. I absolutely love it. It give me that boost of energy that I need but it doesn't make me jittery in the least bit!! I'm having a little trouble keeping a schedule though. I'm just unsure of when I should eat since it says to take on an empty stomach. Which by the way doesn't bother me in the least bit, and I usually can't do that. What I currently do is take the pill about 6:30 -7:30 about 1hr and 1/2 later I have a small breakfast. (3 egg whites, energy bar, toast - usually only one of these) I'm usually not hungry when I eat it, but I'm trying to train myself to eat several smaller meals. i usually eat a light lunch about an hr before I'm supposed to take my next pill. Then I'll have 1 more small snack, usually fruit and then a balanced dinner. I've also had the energy to actually work out. I went jogging last night and I plan to start working out at the gym next week. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi!!

I kept thinking, about what I will eat when i go out and when I am at friends houses for dinner...I guess its a one step at a time kinda thing. Well day 1 is done and having drank 5 glasses of water, I feel more like a fish then a hot young female, but hey, it is only day 1...lol...keep me updated on your progress...

Greetings everyone. I've started taking NV just three days ago. I think its important that we dont just track our before and after weights, as weight is very much influenced by water retention and muscle gain. Because slimming down in so important to me right now, I will visit this forum religiously and jot down my thoughts and progress. My starting measurements are 34-27-38 and my thigh measures 21 inches. My goal is to lose 3 inches from everywhere except the boobs. Weight wise Im not sure where this will put me but I think 10-15 pounds should do the trick. Stay positive and good luck to you all!! See you soon.

I have read plenty and decided to buy this product. I have tried everything else why not. I crave carbs unbelieveably!! i almost think I have a eating disorder. I can eat good all day long and once I get home I could eat everything including the baseboards. I am 40yrs old, 155lbs, hysterectomy 1999, wearing 8-10. Always weighed in around 116-123 wearing 4-6...... NOT ANYMORE and I feel like a pig, gotta try something. Has anyone noticed a change in blood pressure or dizziness with this NV. Thks and Good luck to All of you..

Hey Cricket,
granted this is my second day on NV, but I have felt no difference except my hunger cravings are not nearly as crazy as they were two days ago. I have felt no dizziness and thought I would as I am menstrating (sorry I know to much info...lol), but I'm not. I feel great and have a lot of energy. Maybe its mental, maybe not...but if I feel good then thats all that matters to me...

Cricket, you might wanna make sure you are getting a proper HRT, with bioidentical hormones and the right amount of progesterone. I know many doctors put women on estrogen solely after a hysterectomy, which makes no sense since you used to produce both.

Once you have both these hormones, the free levels, which are the real hormones in the blood stream, back to the levels a fertile woman has, then you should have your thyroid levels checked (again, complete planel, not just TSH), cause having excess estrogen often messes with thyroid levels.

I'm not saying you should or shouldn't take this pill - I know nothing about it. I'm just saying that if you don't start out with good enough hormone levels, regardless of what diet, exercise, or pill you are using, you'll always be 5 steps behind the healthy person.
