The Monkey Chow Diet

Morgan Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's food. Adam Scott (aka "the last angry young man") is eating nothing but Monkey Chow - a pelletised nutritionally complete food for monkeys.

"Maybe I'll lose weight. Maybe I'll gain superhuman monkey strength. Maybe I'll go crazy. Maybe it's too late."
Maybe it's the perfect answer for the diet-obsessed. No more worrying about the next meal. No cooking. No stressing out the number of carbohydrates or calories. No worries about shelf-life or shopping.

Of course, there are bound to be a few issues... At Day 5 Adam is reporting trouble in the plumbing department - with a diary entry of "Poop: Problematic". Maybe the maximum 2.5% crude fiber has something to do with it. (via Freakonomics)

I heard of this and I agree with Dave.

WHAAAT!? Where's the REAL Monkey diet? Try the Chimpanzee diet, rich in potassium fruts, berries, leaves, eggs, nuts and game meat (YES! Chimps are omnivores creatures, but they do require less animal protein than we do. However, chimps still eat meat to stay healthy.

You know, what they could do...create a perfect blend of vitamins, minerals, calories, and macronutrients and market it as "Human Chow" and we could eat that 3 times a day. It sure would take the guess work out of eating. Oh wait, it would take all the PLEASURE out of eating too. This Adam guy sounds really stupid. I guess if he does the Monkey Chow diet, we'll all find out how bad it is and no one else (hopefully) will try it. :P

Calm down people...he's just doing it for a week to be funny and weird, he's not trying to lose weight. If anything, he looks too skinny.

Agree with Raina, just publicity/ experiment/ boredom.
The Ape diet is great though, tried it for two months and lost 8 kilos but most importantly my skin is radiantly clear.

Spectra,
"Human Chow" does already kind of exist - there are recipes out there for baked goods used by practicioners of Calorie Restriction. I also bake them myself to ship to friends and associates. Contact me if you're interested.

To Andrea--I'm sure your recipe is fine and all, but I'd rather eat actual food. Sorry :)
