* Do you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity? Yes, Mischa Barton.
* Have you become obsessed with your weight and size? I wouldn't say obsessed.
* Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself? They make me feel so bloody fat. I hate it hate it hate it.
* What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful? I drink as much water as I can every day, I'm giving up fizzy drinks and other calorific drinks as much as possible, recently I've only been drinking water and coke. Tried Atkins but I felt so ill. I'm currently only eating one meal a day, with no snacks between meals. I do 1 1/2 hr of kickboxing every week for excercise as well as two 1hr Gym lessons a week. I go out walking every night after school. I'm trying to cut out chocolate and other fat from my diet, replacing marge with butter and eating as little dairy products as possible. But I love Tiramisu, and I keep going back to it.
* Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others? Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson, Nicole Richie, who I don't believe is too skinny.
ReplyDo you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity?
I love Ben Affleck's Jennifers! Being spanish, I would love to emulate Jennifer Lopez. Being an Alias fan I love Jennifer Garner! I would love to be skinny like those two lovely ladies
Have you become obsessed with your weight and size?
I've been obsessed with weight since freshman year of college when a master sergeant told me I was too fat for the U.S. Navy. I was 212 at 5'7"
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself?
Probably in both a positive and negative way. Negatively with self worth if I don't look like that, but positive because it makes me work harder to get to where I want to be.
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful?
I do Weight Watchers. I'm down to 151 which is very healthy. Its not about starving but portion control and being active.
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others? Well Jennifer Garner's on tv more since Jennifer Lopez married Marc Anthony so I would say her.

I eat little healthy meals often and I think thats the best way. Anyways it was goin alrite for the first 2 weeks and I lost 6lbs but then I craved chocolate and had a huge binge. Anyways Ive been eating 1150 cals all week of healthy food and then binging for one day. I know is houldnt but i cant stop. I feel like I need to lose more tho and my goal is 7st 9lbs, It used to be 7st 12lbs. I thought id be so happy and confident with myself if I was that weight but now im below it and feel like crap. All it hink about is diets. I dont even go out with my mates much anymore incase im tempted to strain from my diet plan. That totally sucks and i basically have no life now! Grrh!
Im studying for my exams rite now which sorta gives me an excuse not to go out wiv them wen they ask me. All I do is think about how many cals ive eaten today, what I can eat later, how much i want to weigh at the end of the week. Its crazy. IM CRAZY. Oh my gawd. If anyone has any advice or feels like i do then please leave a comment.

~Always.

~dencent amount of the time.

I am going it old skool style, simply exercising and trying to eat right. It has worked/is working but slowly. I'm 24 and dont desire to be extremely skinny but I do love bodies like Beyonce' and Tyra Banks', Jennifer Lopez. I love curves and have curves myself but it all depends on the anthropological makeup of the societies. I'm a twenty something mixed race female (black, caucasian) and wanting a body like Jessica Simpson is not top on my list. She looks fine but through most of my culture wide hips, a slim waist and a not so small behind is more desirable. When everybody said that Britney Spears was getting fat, I was like wow. The chick looked normal to be. Jane's post was right on. Hollywood does sell fantasy and that is why younger females emulate the super skinny...sometimes you just wake up and realize what is real and what is you. My sister is 5'0 tall three inches shorter than me and she recently went from a size 8 to a size 2 in six months. She looks awesome but for her it started out with her emulating celebs. She wasnt fat at all but people were telling her she was - now she looks like the wind can pick her up and blow her away!!
ReplyLadies, don't be obssesed with your weight, get enough exercise to feel good about yourself, & remember a look of confidence on a person drops 10lbs instantly!! Exercise is the key to feeling better (even just walking) it's a good stress relief. Stop watching the celebrities & the scale, t.v. is not reality, get off the couch & get out there & enjoy life, the more you move, the better you'll feel about yourself. Diet's don't work & lead to more weight gain, everything in moderation, life is too short to stess over 5/10/15lbs if you really have a weight problem that's making you unhappy & unhealthy, simple solution change your lifestyle, what you're doing is not working, I know it may seem impossible, but you've got to want it bad enough to change your whole life, you can be the best 'you', hollywood people all are basically the same unrealistically skinny, quit giving them more fuel by watching them & get out there & start living your life to the fullest, carry yourself proudly, shoulders back, chest out, head held high, you will always be the same on the inside, so becoming skinny will not magically change your life. Inspire others to do the same, bottom line respect yourself for who you are!

I have always had trouble being happy with my body. I used to be super jealous of teen super stars such as Lindsay and Hilary while i was in high school. i would hear people talking about them in ways such as, "Do you think Hilary Duff is hot?" And i would just bubble with jealousy. I knew little about them at the time, and then i went online to see how she (Hilary) actually looked. To my suprise, she was my height, and had the exact same bust size, waist size, and hips size that I did! this was back in 03. I read reviews later on in 2004 about what people thought of her and, to my dismay, many many people were calling her fat! this made me upset. if they thought this beautiful young lady was fat, then.... What did people think of me? I started to use her as a guideline for myself because our dimentions were so close. I stopped for a while, and the next time i saw her... She was as thin as a rail! i couldn't believe it! How did she get so thin so fast? i couldn't help but wonder... Now I see pictures of her when she was about... 124 lbs, (before she became too thin) and wonder how i could look like her, and how I could loose the weight as fast as she did. I'm tired of feeling like a blimp even though my friends and family say I'm thin and beautiful. I want to look in the mirror and feel it myself. i really need help with this... I've been feeling this sadness for years, and I think it's about time that I be happy with my body. Please, I really need some help.

Do you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity?
Well, most certainly. I dream of a model body...
Have you become obsessed with your weight and size?
Hm. Well, not obsessed in a way that I starve myself or excersise until I throw up, but there's not one single day without me thinking something bad about my body, weight and size. I doesn't matter how pretty I feel when I leave my house; I will soon realise that there are thousands of people which are more attractive than me.
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself?
Indeed it has. Watching all stars and models makes me feel even uglier, but still I can't ignore them. They're too beautiful to go to waste, and perhaps, if I study them really intensively, I'll look like them one day...?
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful?
I'm promising myself to diet every day, but I like food far too much. Couldn't ever starve myself, it's just not possible. I'm actually perfectly healthy and quite slim and shouldn't lose any weight, but I do feel bad about the fact that I can't resist the temptation. I want that body sooo bad!
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others?
It varies, but for the moment it's mostly Gemma Ward, Erin Wasson, Kate Moss and Natalia Vodianova.

ReplyHave you become obsessed with your weight and size? i will not eat anything i dont know the caloric value of and when i do i will spend as long as it takes to find the accurate caloric value
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself? yes. i feel as though if you are not skin and bones with visible hip bones collar bones and ribs then you are not skinny enough
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful? binge purge, fasting, starving, low caloric intake...(300-700)
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others?Lindsay lohan because i feel like before she lost alot of weight we were built alot alike...bigger and musclular and broad shoulders. she lost weight and proved to me you can be that skinny with our build.
@ 5'6" and 150lbs in 2006 Freshman 15 is a killer... beware!
Do you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity?
-Of course I want to be skinny but I want to be healthy too I know that being 110lbs is not healthy for my height
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself?
-Watching celebrities fluxuate in weight between their red carpet poses to their everyday shots in the people/us magazines, makes me wonder what they do to get into their best shape. Watching them has made me somewhat depressed in a sense that I will never be like them..
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful?
-I have increased my exercise and made my own work outs that benefit my problem areas, I am completely obsessed with fittv. I have cut out the bad foods like sodas and sugary drinks and all kinds of junk food, Im eating more fruits and veggies. Annnd I'm taking diet pills, not faithfully but I think they help with my energy and so far ive lost 2lbs in the last week.
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others?
-I usually watch the celebs I think look the best, mischa barton, reese witherspoon, and some other athletes with awesome bodies.
Replybyyy the way, I think Self magazine helps alot with self esteem. They have good workouts, eating plans and I learned that the average woman is 5'4" and 160 lbs..
Well, after reading all these comments I thought maybe I was the only one obsessing over my weight and looks. I am 4"11 and I weigh 120-125 pounds, it changes like daily. Is that normal. It is pretty much 120. I dont MIND my weight because I am at a healthy weight, but I cant stand to gain any that would suck bad and I would LOVE to lose weight. I know the cwelbrities weigh around 120 and 110 which is cool. I want to lose weight because I want to look GOOD. you would think 120 you'd be skinny and look fantastic, but even so I have all this flab around my stomach and thighs and butt and though its not terrible, I look good in clothes and all but without my clothes I feel like a tub of lard and my thighs kill me they are huge. yesterday I went to a size 5 in jeans and even that didnt fit. I dont HATE myself because there are days and aspects I really do like about my body, but it just doesnt feel proportional. Like my upper body is fine, except my stomach it needs to be flat! HOW DO YOU GET A FLAT STOMACH AND FAST???????!!! I need to know. And how do youi lose weight on your legs??? Its strange I go through this huge diet dilemna losijng wieght but i go ibn circles cuz I have no motuivation to work it all off, but the best thign I have in contropl is my food because I eat healthy atr least I am beginning to eat less, and exercise is my problem.
ReplyDo you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity? I am skinny and I don't need to emulate any celebrities because I am fine the way I am.
Have you become obsessed with your weight and size? Not really. I just wish I could be a little taller. I'm 155 cm and 45 kg. I have a lot of muscle so that influences my weight. All I want is to grow a few inches.
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself? Yes. It has made me realize that I am sexier than the media gives me credit for and I don't need all this media crap.
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful? I am not really trying to lose weight all that much. But I follow a diet (not the "lose 10 lbs in 5 days" kind of diet, I mean what I eat). Its more helpful than harmful: drink lost of water, excerize, cut the crap, avoid sweets, don't eat after six and sleep a lot.
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others? Gisele Bundchen and Mischa Barton.
ReplyDo you want to be skinny and emulate a certain celebrity?
Absolutely. All I've ever wanted is to look like a stick-thin model.
Have you become obsessed with your weight and size?
I've always wanted to be stick-thin, but it's never really seemed within reach. All my life I've been slightly chubby, and since becoming an adult I've gained even more weight (I'm 22 now). I'd always just dreamed of looking better, never done anything, until recently I realized I was getting really freaking fat - at 5'7", I was getting real close to that 200 number. I've lost 30 lbs in the past 6 months and I tell people I want to lose another 30 (which would put me at 130), but I really want to get down to like 120 or less. Nobody knows how obsessed and crazy I really am, honestly, I'm probably on the path to an eating disorder. But I don't care; I'm determined to get "skinny" by whatever means necessary.
Has celebrity-watching influenced the way you feel about yourself?
Probably, especially during my formative years. As a young child my best friend and I used to eagerly delve through Cosmo, Vogue, Seventeen, Elle, etc, and look at all the gorgeous models and tear out their pictures and paste them up everywhere. (Still do that, as a matter of fact.) We'd compare ourselves to them, our 10-year old bodies of course falling short, and then starve ourselves for a few days...yeah, those were the days. When the whole "heroin chic" image came out in the fashion world, I was about 13 years old, and I "fell in love." That was my dream. That is my dream. That's what I want to look like. It sounds pathetic, it sounds stupid, wanting to look like a drugged-out whore, a bony stick with no tits or curves, but damnit that's what I want.
What are you doing to lose weight - are your methods helpful or harmful?
They aren't entirely one way or the other. I generally eat a fairly healthful diet of around 1000-1200 calories, take my multivitamins, and exercise most days, so that's helpful. I just get mad at myself a lot and stop eating quite often, so that's probably harmful. And then there's days when I go nuts at the gym and do like 4 hours of cardio, then go home and yell at myself in the mirror for a few hours, then go back to the gym for another 4 hours of cardio. I usually don't eat on those days either. (I really shouldn't get days off from work.)
Is there a particular celebrity that you watch more than others?
Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Cameron Diaz. Runway models.
