Acomplia Side Effects: The Story You Must Read
UPDATE: May 2007. The drug has been re-named Zimulti in the US.
UPDATE Jun 13 2007: An FDA advisory panel of outside experts unanimously recommended that the regulatory agency not approve the novel weight-loss drug for sale in the United States. It is unlikely that this drug will be approved before 2010 (if at all).
UPDATE July 1 2007: Sanofi has now withdrawn it's application for approval in the USA.
Background
Rimonabant (brand name Acomplia) has been pitched as the blockbuster weight loss drug of the decade. The company manufacturing the drug, Sanofi-Aventis believes that sales will reach $5.2 billion per year by 2010. That is a staggering amount of money.
Investors are getting swept up in the buzz, and desperate consumers are falling over themselves to get an opportunity to try the drug. However it is currently before the FDA awaiting approval - which some believe may come during early/mid 2006. Acomplia blocks cannabinoid (CB) receptors in the brain. The CB receptors are believed to play a role in controlling food consumption and dependence / habituation. People often refer to the cannabis-induced "munchies" or hunger pangs. Acomplia attempts to do the opposite.
What is an Acceptable Risk?
In the scramble for profits and quick-fix obesity solutions - no one has bothered to raise questions about the long term side effects. It is up to the health authorities to determine what is an "acceptable risk" based on the data from the clinical trials conducted recently.Carol (not her real name) knows about the risk - and it is anything but acceptable. I recently corresponded with Carol, who participated in a Rimonabant drug trial.
With a long history of dieting, Carol began the trial at a weight of 13 stone 1 pound (183 pounds). With a daily dosage of 20mg, Carol noticed two immediate reactions; She was less hungry, and she became very tearful and depressed. She began to lose a pound or two per week (without being on a diet or exercise program).
Psychosis?
However things went from bad to worse. "I also felt nauseous quite often and in a period of 3 months vomited 6 times. As the trial progressed I became more and more depressed. I felt suicidal most of the time." In her desperation to lose weight, Carol stayed on the drug, but slowly descended into psychosis "I couldn’t sleep and when I did I had terrible nightmares". Carol experienced more graphic symptoms of psychosis (such as self-inflicted violence). She has since been on anti-psychotic medication for over a year, and has gradually improved."I lost my health and happiness because of these pills and experienced the most wretched time of my life". Carol also added "My relationship with my partner never recovered from him having to care for me and we split up at the end of last year."
To add insult to injury, the 20 pounds that Carol lost in the trial came back on within 3 months. Carol reports that her appetite "came back with a vengeance".
Not Alone
According to the results of the 1st year of clinical trials, patients taking the 20mg dosage of Rimonabant reported 50% more adverse events leading to discontinuation, than those in the placebo group. Of course Carol's experiences must be kept in perspective - most people had no adverse side affects.
» Note the increase in psychiatric disorders as dosage increases
What is an Acceptable Risk?
Is even one persons terrible experiences an "acceptable risk"? Maybe Acomplia will end up being prescribed to only the most "at-risk" obese patients - but who decides where that line lies?Cover Up?
You will not read about Carol's experiences in any published paper. The data from the 2004 trial that Carol participated in has not (yet?) been made public. Sanofi funded the trial and holds the results. There Will Never Be a Perfect Weight Loss Drug
In amongst the flurry of hype and expectation over this new "wonder drug", someone needs to take a long hard look at the whole concept of miracle weight loss cures. For the sake of 20 pounds of weight, Carol damaged her mental health, and her relationships.Carol strongly cautions anyone with any history of depression to be "very careful" about taking Acomplia/Rimonabant - "Being thinner is not worth screwing up your mental health."
$5.2 billion dollars estimated per year. With that sort of money being generated, who will care if a few people lose their minds?
Sanofi-Aventis "Because Health Matters"

It is possible that Acomplia may be marketed as a Cardiovascular medication. US health insurers generally cover cardiovascular medication.
Yes, I have had the same sorts of side effects - waking up in a panic, electricity running through my body, numb hands and arms and sometimes feet. Slow response to shaking to relieve the numb hands.
ReplyI cannot reach my doctor or a pharmacist, but I will stop taking it today. What happened when you stopped the drug? How long did it take to get rid of the symptoms?
HI Lee
I have taken Slimola a generic form of Acomplia for 11 days now. I stopped 3 days ago because I too was waking up with this crazy electrical feeling running from my finger tips to my brain...very scary.
ReplyDoes anyone know if these side effects will go away eventually. I have already lost 3 pounds and love that but am bummed out that I will need to stop
i have been taking this medicine for a month now, from last 15 days i am facing the same issue like getting electrolated when i am falling into sleep. i am not really found advisible this medicine. it was bit scarry and my wife really start worrieng, this forum is really made aware of the cause.

Replyafter taking acomplia for a few weeks. Thanks
I can relate to Carol and DSG. I took Rimonabant (generic for Acomplia) for almost three months. I experienced depression, panic attacks, nightmares and the list goes on. I have never been depressed before. I couldn't concentrate on anything. I am better than I was; but I am far from over the adverse reaction I had to the drug. I never paid any attention to side effect warnings of a medication. I guess it's one of those things I thought would never happen to me. Well, I don't think that way now. I am very careful of what I take.
ReplyI HAVE FOUGHT BEING OVER WIEGHT FOR YEARS. I HAVE BEEN ON MORE DEITS THAN I CARE TO ADMIT.I JUST ORDERED Rimonabant AND AFTER ALOT OF RESEARCH I AM CONVINCED THIS WILL HELP ME.I WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS I TRY.I HAVE TAKEN THE "EVIL" PHEN PHEN AND LOVED THE RESULTS IT GAVE ME.IF IT WERE STILL AVAILABLE TODAY ID USE IT.SO A COUPLE OF "MABE " SIDE AFFECTS WONT DETOUR ME.
ReplyI DO NOT WANT TO PEARSUADE ANYONE TO TAKE IT OR NOT. AGREE WITH BOTH SIDES AND THINK ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS ARE VERY INTERESTING. I HAVE TAKEN ACOMPLIA FOR 15 DAYS AND STOPPED 10 DAYS AGO BECAUSE OF DIZZINESS, NAUSEA AND SHIVERING FEELING, COLD AND HOT. I FEEL VERY WEAK AND I AM IN NEED OF TOO MUCH SLEEP. I HAVE NEVER HAD A SIDE EFFECT FROM ANY PRESCRIPTION DRUG AND I DO NOT EVEN KNOW IF IF IS ACOMPLIA WHICH HAS CAUSED WHAT I AM FEELING? I HAVE GONE TO A GENERAL PRACTITIONER AND TODAY I AM GOING TO AN EAR, THROAT AND NOSE DOCTOR TO SEE IF MY PROBLEM LYES SOMEWHERE WITHIN THESE ORGANS. I AM WRITING TO SEE IF ANYONE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON HOW LONG, IF ACOMPLIA IS MY PROBLEM, WILL IT TAKE MY BODY TO GET RID OF IT? KEEP IN MIND I ONLY TOOK IT FOR 15 DAYS. FORGIVE MY SPEELING ENGLISH IS MY SECOND LANGUAGE AND I DO NOT USE IT OFTEN. THANKS TO ALL AND GOOD LUCK!
ReplySince I cant find the original Brazilian diet pill anymore I an thinking about trying Rimonabant...just need to find a safe place to buy it in Miami
ReplyBe very careful of Acomplia. It is a very new drug. I took it for 5 weeks and while I did achieve a weight loss - it caused depression. Belive me I had NEVER suffered from depression before and nobody was more surprised than me when I started to suffer from it. It came on almost the day I started taking Acomplia - it took me a few weeks to admit to myself that I was suffering from depression. I went to a very bad place really. I stopped taking it after 5 weeks and I have recovered to a large extent but I don't really feel the same since and I am still prone to bouts of feeling down and a bit hopless about the future in away that I never ever experienced before Acomplia. Remember I had never suffered from this before, maybe I was unknowingly predisposed to depression anyway but the Acomplia certaily brought it on one way or another anyway. I wish I had never heard of it. Please be careful.
I know alot of people (especially younger people) reading this will think, I don't care, I won't get depressed, I just want to be thinner and they will try it anyway. Please don't - I don't think the effects of it stop once you stop taking it - I know six months later they are still with me - I wish I could go back.
ReplyKaitlin, I'm a journalist doing a piece on Acomplia and its dangers for mental health. Please contact me on ellie.white@the-sun.co.uk urgently to tell your story. Thanks, Ellie.
ReplyI am a case of problems with acomplia in Mexico
ReplyThe drug works by neurotransmitter receptor antagonism. Chalk another one up for "stupid".
To those who have suffered the side-effects: Have you tried yet to alleviate the problem with marijuana?
It might be possible that short-term use of marijuana could stimulate endo-cannabinoid and receptor activity to previous levels.
ReplyNo, I havn't - but I was aware that there is a tentative link between the 2 drugs in that Accomplia set out to achieve the opposite to the 'munchies' - is it really worth a shot do you think? It sounds a bit mad and even 'stupid' dare I say... sorry..! But maybe it's worth a shot? Has anybody any experience of this?
ReplyI stopped taking Acomplia about 3 weeks ago after taking them for approx. 6 months. All came to a head after months of feeling nauseous and depressed (which I didn't realize i was at the time) when I was in a friends car and made her have to stop so i could be sick. As a result of that I started having panic attacks about going out into public places in case I was going to be sick, and just generally became extremely edgy and often angry for no reasons. Looking back now it seems I had the majority of the side effects listed on the leaflet. What really annoys me is that I wasn't monitored properly at all. The specialist who prescribed it for my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) only asked if I was depressed at the moment and/or on anti-depressants. No looking into my background or asking about a family history of depression (My mother suffers from severe anxiety). I was also meant to be back at the clinic 3 months after I first started taking them and so far it's been 7 months since I heard anything a all, but I guess that's the NHS for you!
I would really advise people who are thinking about taking this drug to do so with caution. It is possible to shrug of the feelings you might experience initially as minor, but I get the feeling that the toxicity of this drug may creep up on people and cause untold damage. I'm now facing a course a of anti-depressants and counselling.
ReplyIs anyone taking rimonobant with an antidepresssant? and if so, how is it working an are you having problems with any side effects?
ReplyMel I've come off the drug now as I was getting most of the side effects but I do know that in the UK an urgent letter was sent out to GPs and consultants telling them not to prescribe rimonabant if the patient was also on anti-depressants or indeed suffering from depression. I was neither on the drugs nor depressed but I am now. I don't know if that helps.
ReplyThanks for the comment Dani. I am in the US where this stuff has not been approved yet. I ordered it from overseas. I have been on it for about 2 weeks and I am tearful, itching, and I can't sleep. Last night I couln't sleep or lay still in my bed. I have also experience quite a bit of nausea, that seems to be getting better. I just can't take the not sleeping. It's miserable. I wish everyone else taking the drug much success and weight loss.
ReplyA few posts reference people that have purchased from India....any suggestions of a good pharmacy/website? Any searches that I do come back with what seems to be "gimmick" websites. I am from the US and just placed an order with www.4rx.com. They mentioned that they meds would ship from Hong Kong or India. Has anyone had success with this company? Any suggestions for other websites/pharmacies?
ReplyI just ordered from Horizon Drug- got my order today. It took about a month to get my pills.

What about having a glass of wine at night with these does anyone know???
ReplyI am on Acomplia for 2 months now and I dont have any of that paranoia. I notice that I am eating less and my clothes fit better day after day. The only side effect I have with this drug is the self confidence of losing weight and feeling better with life. I recommend the use of this drug 110%.
ReplyCheers.
What kind of weight have you lost in the last 2 months? Where did you get your medication? I just received mine. I am also looking forward to a better "me" once I start taking this. I was put on steriods for 6 months (for medical purposes). That made me gain 30 pounds and I am ready to get it off. The steriods made me eat like crazy, I was always hungry. I have been looking for something that would curb my appetite. I am ready to start getting back in shape and I think this will give me a jump start. Thanks for all the advice that everyone has provided!

ReplyWhere are you from? This is not available in the USA. I get it from alldaychemist.com in India, the patent is being ignored for some reason. I was worried at first that I would get a fake medicine, but this was not the case with these guys. Shipping is $25 per order and it is not real fast but it is only $0.50 per pill (you take one pill per day). Actually, I looked it up and it is $14.04 for a 30-day supply.
ReplyHi,
How cn I get these pills?
Thank you to answer.

ReplyHei!
I am from Norway and my weight has been about 25% too high after I stopped smoking AND got a kidneyproblem which made me swell. Then I got diabetes 2 in sept. 07, but in a very low grade, so I stopped eating chocolade in the same tempo as before. I eat more vedge and the doc saw that I really tried to loose weight. Therefore I got Accomplia as a "Price". In the beginning, I got a little depressed, but when I told my doc about it, I felt better. The medicine is also very exp. in Norway and when I work in the municipal serv., my salary is not too good. But as I stopped smoking, my financial sit. got better. I also have a summerhouse in Sweden and they do not have v.a.t. on medicine, and there they cost less than 100 d. for 4 weeks, so I buy them there.
Today, I feel that I am "disapearing" a little every day. I feel much more comfortable, going without a blazer to hide my sideflesh and front. I get very fast un-hungry when I eat.
Now, I have lost about 14 kilo or 28lb, so when I reach 160lb, I stop eating the pills every day and eat them 4 days a week.
I will be 60 years on monday 9. june and then I will go on the weight to se how much I have left to reduce.
Have a nice weekend.

ReplyI have been on Acomplia for several months and have lost a little over 30 pounds. It does not work from the first dose, give it a week. As time goes on, food becomes less and less something that you think about. In fact, I have to remind myself to drink fluids.
However, make no mistake about the psych symptoms. I could tear up in almost any sad situation. This is not typical for me. You must expect this and some sadness to occur.
Know yourself! Be prepared to stop the drug if there is a death in the family or something else that is severely stressful. Be prepared to stop if if your mood becomes hopeless, you can always restart it next week.
If you are already taking antidepressants, it may counteract their effects.
I for one am reasonably happy, though on Acomplia. One thing, I wish is was time released or pulse-dosed. About 12 hours after I take it I start to think about food and can sometimes take in quite a few calories.
ReplyI tried Acomplia as a test for my GP, I agreed to try them before they were released in the UK. On the first day (Monday) I took them I turned into a very agressive monster and I wanted to shout, scream and argue with anything that crossed my path. I just assumed this was a temporary side effect as it was the first day I had taken them. I continued to take them for five days then on the Saturday I stopped taking them. I turned back into me (Cazza) I was Cazza for the whole weekend. On Monday I decided to just experiment and try one more tablet. I went back to being a monster again and made the decision to report back to my GP stating that these tablets are not suitable for the UK as it will cause riots.
I did not want to harm myself and I did not feel anxious or depressed, I just felt like I had a huge knott in my tummy and the slightest thing irrated me.
I am a lot happier now I am not taking anything, I have returned to a healthy eating plan and plenty of exercise. This is the safety and best way to shed those pounds. Cazza xx
ReplyI began Accomplia in Sept 2006 due to high cholesterol and high blood pressure, since then a diagnosis of heart disease. I lost about 20 lbs rather easily. Unfortunately, no impact on my cholesterol or blood pressure so I also take medication for that. Going on almost two years, I kept my weight down and dropped the dosage to 5 mg for about 6 mths until my menopause symptoms increased - night sweats, hot flashes and of course, weight gain. After gaining about 8 lbs, I decided to go back to 20 mg but didn't like how I felt. I woke up a few times with the jerking motion some people mention. I went back to 10 mg and feel very normal although the weight loss is slow. My appetite has finally tapered off. So, inspite of nightly 1 to 2 hr sweats, fluid retention so I can't take my rings off, and overall feeling like a middle-aged menopausal woman, I am glad to have Accomplia to shed the extra weight which I know will make me feel better about myself, even if it doesn't affect my vital values. For some people, like myself - and I go to the fitness club 5 days per week and work out a minimum of 1 hr - exercise and diet are not enough. My mom weighs over 200 lbs and she is the lite weight of my family. I ate a salad and one chicken breast for dinner, no butter or fat except olive oil for the dressing. When you get into menopause, all normal bets are off. This medication will work for some people, if you are well-adjusted, disciplined and understand that medicine is an aide to good health - not a magic pill. I am grateful my doctor put me on it and will continue until menopausal symptoms are in control so that I can again be in control of what I eat and how much I weigh.
Replyive been on them 7days when did they start to work for you
ReplyI too have ordered my rimonabant from 4Rx.com. My pills came from India as well. Has anyone had any luck with this? Would they be safe to try?
ReplyI got mine from 4rx.com started on wed nov 08 it works for me the only thing that I'm experiencing is lack of sleep and yes i did felt sick but that's my fault because I didn't have time to eat my breakfast but once I had something to eat it's helping me to stop craving between meals and eat less for me to lose weight. I have just ordered another batch of tablets. I haven't gone into depression or feeling low it's maybe because I'm busy and not thinking about it. But what I'm more worried about lack of sleep at night I do catch up on sleep during the day, more then I should. But for me that's not too unusual because sometimes during the day I do not all the time about 5 or 10 mins sleep then I'm fine and I get on what ever I have to do. what I also find that during the day I find it's working I'm eating less but when it comes to dinner I'm finding that there is no change in it. It is only one tablet a day. Could I take one in the morning and and one in the afternoon so I'm taking two tablets a day has anyone done this if so plz let me know.
Replyi started taking acomplia march 2007and stop october 2007.i lost4 stone.i was 24 stone.my waist was 56 inches and now i am 42 1/2 inches . the most impotant way is to see a nutritionist then start the tablets.you have to educate yourself first about what to eat and how much.

ive been on acomplia 8days no side effects yet lost 3ib hope i dont get any now when do side effects usualy start anyone tell me please my doc says she doesnot know as im the first shes given it too im checked weekly
ReplyDear June, I've had no 'bad' side-effects' despite having doubled the dose from 20 to 40 mg. It is only on this dose that I don't feel too hungry but I do eat.
Razelle
ReplyHello, I've just started taking acomplia (hope I spelt it right). So, far I find I still feel hungry but nothing like I used to but I really thought it would be better than it is. Any feedback re a similar problem or any advice relevant to my complaint would be appreciated.
ReplyI'm wondering if anyone has used a 30mg dose? It seems that if 20mg does not work for me, a little extra might. Does anyone have any comments on this. I would especially like to hear from those who have used a 30mg dose.
ReplyAcomplia starting working for me after about a week. I noticed a real decrease in my appetite and an intolerance for my usual glass of wine with dinner. I lost all the weight in about six months. Having used it this long, it seems the only way to maintain the weight loss is to not slip back into eating rich foods late at night, skipping exercise and all those other bad habits that lead to weight gain in the first place. I have noticed though that I now tend to have occasional binges - chocolate or ice cream - which I never used to do. I sometimes find it hard to feel satisfied with what I eat.
ReplyRazelle - if 20 mg doesn't work for you, try a different medication. Side effects intensify, of course, with increases the dosage. I, too, have had the occasion jerking awake, like a shock, but only when I have increased from 5mg to 10mg.
Dear MNW, thanks for your advice, but I have already changed to a 40 mg dose after trying a 30 mg dose. The 40mg works very well. What really freaked me about me on the 20mg dose was that I began to compulsively eat around 5-10 at night. I'm really happy with the accomplia and have not experienced any of the unpleasant side effects. I have to lose about 50kgs and my only concern is hypertension.
ReplyCheers Razelle
I'm having healthy binges late at night (low fat cheese on wholemeal toast). This worries me. I probably need to develop a diet around this as it seems to be my body's inbuilt clock.
What you wrote above NMW was helpful, Is there any other pieces of advice anyone can give me.
Razelle
ReplyI speak only from personal experience: when I get in a binging mode, I have to concentrate on protein so I have a big steak or two large chicken breasts and basically eat protein (with a few green beans or peas) until I am full. I have looked into metabolic typing and having taken the self-test twice, I come out as a protein type, meaning an Atkins-style diet (which, by the way, I lost 20 lbs on 10 yrs ago and kept it off for several years until my love for bread and pizza took over!) Salads, breads and pasta pack on the pounds for me. A good steak and green beans and I lose weight. Acomplia is only one part and what it did for me best was break my "set point" of weight and reduce my body fat, something I couldn't do with exercise and diet. The Metobolic Typing Diet by William Wolcott and Trish Fahey is what I read. You'll see that for some people, even waking up and eating in the middle of the night can be normal. With 30 yrs of fighting fat, I can sympathize with you! Good luck!
ReplyThe fact that Acomplia works on the same neural- recepters as marijuana (it is in fact an "anti-marijuana ,and perhaps could block the pot "high")could prejudice the FDA against US approval.I just hope the ultimate decision is based on science, and not politics or emotion.Historically this has not been the case, with regard to the cannabinoids.

I just took the drug today. It worked within 30 minutes. For others, it takes weeks.
Positives:
My desire to eat went to zero!
Negatives (so far):
I had 2 anxiety/panic attacks that lasted a few minutes. I had to get a breath of fresh air. It was
a little scary.
Also, I would not use the word "depression", but I did become a more "serious" person. Generally, I am a happy person.
I have mixed feelings about using it tomorrow, but I have not ruled it out. I feel very normal now with a less desire to eat.
ReplyI need to loose 30 kg to just be overweight. I was on Acomplia for 2,5 months and stopped just recently realizing that Acomplia may be causing my current severely depressed and anxious state of mind. I had slight problems with depression as a teen but had felt nothing of the sort for years. Now it kind of crept over me. I stopped talking to people, became fearful, worried all the time and acted erratically. The fact that I was changing jobs did not help. I stared to feel feel something was wrong and first suicidal thought crept up. 2 months into the cure I had to go on an unplanned holiday for two weeks, my dog died and I got a traffic fine for not noticing a temporary speed limit. All that derailed me completely. For two weeks I did not speak to anybody at all. Just read books. And only books. Shell mode. Totally ignored everybody and everything. My pills ran out. I was too afraid to drive because I might cause an accident to get more and I love driving, went on a 3600km car trip on my own in spring, only few months earlier. By the end of the second week, one week after stopping I felt better and returned to work hopeful that what ever it was was over. I also picked up a refill for my Acomplia. Within a week I was in the dumps again but finally made the connection. Today is my third day off meds. It felt like waking up at one point today. The anxiety is not completely gone yet but suicidal thoughts are going away and things are definitely looking up. Now I need to explain to my doctor why this drug does not suit me.
Replyi use Acomplia but with carol's story now am geting scard i dont knw if i should contune.
ReplyI have been taking the generic rimonabant for over a year and have lost 55 pounds! I was fortunate enough to find a pharmacy over seas who sells it at a fraction of the cost the "Accomplia" brand is being sold for. I truly believe that this drug saved my life! Weight started dropping off of me the first three months. I ate what I wanted and when I was full did not want one more bite! I had slight nausia for 1 evening the first week, nothing I couldn't live with (lasted maybe an hour). I have been on antidepressants for years, so I had no adverse depression at all. In addition, I normally crave carbs and especially sweets, but had no cravings at all. I think by NOT approving this drug, the FDA is keeping something great from those of us who really need it!
ReplyI just ordered pills from this site.
http://www.pillaz.com/item/weight_loss/acomplia.html
I got them lastnight, and the back of the foil pack says that they are rimonbant, which is supposed to be the generic for acomplia.
My ? is this. Has anyone else ordered from this particular site and what did your pills look like. Mine are white and round with no imprint of any kind. I've tried finding them online and haven't had any luck. I took one this morning and have felt no effects, good or bad. I am hoping I didn't pay for fake pill.
Does anyone else have a reliable site that they have ordered from and could you please post the link.
ReplyThanks!
I WAS PRESCRIBED ACOMPLIA 20MG DAILY AT MY LAST DIABETIC APPOINTMENT IN JULY 08.
I WAS PRECRIBED 3 MONTHS WORTH
.
AFTER ABOUT 10 DAYS I NOTICED A SLIGHT NAUSEAUS REACTION TOO THE THOUGHT/SMELL OF FOOD BUT I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE WAY IN WHICH THE MEDICINE WORKED..
HOWEVER AFTER 2 MONTHS ALTHOUGH LOSING WEIGHT (I LOST OVER 1 STONE) I HAD STARTED FEELING MORE NAUSEAUS AND WAS NOT SLEEPING.
WHEN I DID START BEEING SICK IT COULD VARY FROM ONCE/TWICE A DAY THEN NOTHING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.
I WENT TO MY GP WHO INITIALLY ADVISED ME TO CONTINUE WITH THE ACOMPLIA AND GAVE ME PRECRIPTION FOR THE SICKNESS, I STOPPED TAKING ACOMPLIA A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER AS I WAS STILL BEING SICK.
I RETURNED TO THE GP(DIFFERENT ONE) WHO GAVE ME A DIFFERENT ANTI-SICKNESS MEDICINE.
HOWEVER APPROX 8 SAYS AFTER STOPPING ACOMPLIA I HAD TO BE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AS I HAD BEEN CONTINIALLY VOMITING ALL DAY AND WAS KEPT IN FOR TWO NIGHTS WHILE A BARRAGE OF TESTS WERE DONE WHILE REPLACING ALL FLUIDS , POTTASIUM ETC THAT I HAD LOST.ALONG WITH ANTI-SICKNESS MEDICINES.
IT WAS CONFIRMNED TO BE A REACTION TO THE ACOMPLIA
WHEN RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL I FELT THE BEST I HAD IN A LOMG TIME, HOWEVER THE NAUSEAUS FEELING HAS RETURNED 3 DAYS LATER.
MY QUESTION IS I HAVE NOW BEEN OFF ACOMPLIA FOR 2 WEEKS ANY IDEA HOW LONG THE SIDE EFFECTS TEKE TO CLEAR.
THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION YOU MAY HAVE
ReplyI got Acomplia for 10 days then quit.
My experience was:
1.) During work hours, the munchies disappeared...I usually get them related to stress. When I'm at home, I have no such hunger.
2.) During lunch hours, I had no appetite for the sweeties & candies that I like, i.e. chocolate.
3.)Need to be sincere, about defecation I got more regular & I saw (for the first time ever) my "poos" lighter, like if my body was releasing more fat... I don't know where this effect comes from. Poos were not drowning in the water (it makes me laugh now, but this is true !) As you may know, fat is lighter than water...that's my freaky rationale.
4.) My mood got very, very poor. My boss came to me to ask what was going on...my wife & son suffered during this period because of me...
From all side effects, I agree, I can handle some belly fat, but with happiness. I won't be a fitness model with Acomplia. My time for exercises is very restricted... I am (unfortunately) a workaholic and I guess I have magnetism for work...so I am trying to handle my stress better, to avoid have deeper munchies...
ReplyI took acomplia for about five months, I lost no wieght and suffered from terrible night terrors until my doctor took me off them.
