PumpPod: iPod Video Workouts

Most hi-tech gadgets seem like nothing more than a bunch of expensive toys. Every now and then someone will think of a very cool idea. PumpPod is just that, and is a lot cheaper than a personal trainer. You can download different video-based workouts to your portable device - such as one of the newer iPods.

PumpPod currently have about 10 different workouts covering Strength, Endurance, Weight Loss, Flexibility, and Heart Health.

Each workout contains pictures and guides for each exercise. This means you could be listening to music at the same time as viewing your exercise instructions. Very cool indeed.

The downloadables are about $19 in price and can be found at PumpOne.

UPDATE Jan 2007
: Now called PumpOne and also offer solutions for mobile phones.

Yes I can really see working out while holding my ipod in one hand and trying to mantain my balance. I understand the concept of excersize is very important and needed in todays society but really, it's going alittle too far.

Ermm... that's what the beltclip on the back is for.. or the armband. I guess I'm too geek-ish. Sometimes I've even been on my elliptical trainer whilst watching video on my laptop... or listening to a podcast...

I do love new ideas and innovations, particularly in this sector - but I am a little bit dubious about this one!

I havent looked into it a great deal, so I can't be too sure of their target market - but I can imagine that a lot of these downloads will end up on the iPods of the same people who have got a stack of barely watched exercise videos and dvds in their spare room...

I have been using the PumpPod strength training workouts for a few weeks now and I love it. It is very user friendly and I get a great workout every time. One of the best things about it is I can listen to my own music while viewing the pictures and not have to listen to the terrible music they play in my gym.

MARINA has over 360 mp3 iPod workouts and mp3 workout songs for your iPod workout sessions.

They are the coolest iPod workouts around.

The workout songs are all arranged by BPM (Beats Per Minute) so you can make your own workout routines. $.50 each
The iPod workouts ($.99) are between 5 and 20 minutes long and are designed to be piggybacked with each other for any length workout. She has iPod workouts for walking, running, body sculpting and stretching... even workouts for sitting in a chair (for those long plane flights).

MARINA lost 100 pounds so she knows what the uphill battle of the bulge is all about - and she talks about it during the workouts! - Funny stuff. Makes the time just fly by.

I have downloading one of these on my ipod and believe it is a great tool for beginners but did little for me. I don't believe they are the best as everybody is different and several workouts will not adjust to everyone.

I know the pump pod guys personally. I interviewed Declan on my site. Since this post they have also seriously upgraded their site and oferings. It is pretty impresive. However, I beat them to the punch with ACTUAL workout videos and exercse instructional videos for not only 5g ipods but cell phones and psp's as well. Check it out if you are looking for cutting edge workouts in the palm of your hand. all videos are pretty short but very hepful.

Hey everyone, I think pumpone is doing a good thing in that it may make more people wake up to the fact that exercise is critical for a healthy life. I have a slightly different approach in my two iPod workout videos. They are short videos, between six and 15 minutes in length, wherein I provide a basic to intermediate level workout. I currently have two videos available: QuickAbs1 and PushUps. More are on the way soon. They are $10 each and I think you'll enjoy them! Feedback is always nice so don't hesitate...
