Exciting New Revolutionary Diet
According to Webster's dictionary, the word Revolutionary means "constituting or bringing about a major or fundamental change." Could a diet make such a claim? How many "revolutionary" diets are there?

Okay - I'll stop now - I think you get the point.
Stop the Abuse
As consumers we have a right to feel both wary and suspicious of this constant abuse of the english language that is perpetrated by many diet books. I'm sure there are a few diets that can lay claim to bringing about a "major or fundamental change" - Dr Atkins for one. But eating every 3 hours - that's a revolution? That's almost as bad as claiming there are such things as weight loss secrets... "pay me $29.95 and I'll tell you a revolutionary fat-burning secret that nobody else knows..."
There isn't much that is revolutionary about eating less. Maybe someone ought to tell the publishers?
I find it funny that people know babies should be fed every 3h, but when you tell an adult to eat every 3h, people go "you can't eat that often!"
ReplyI think the authors of these books should be required to place a revealing full body photo of them self on the cover along with a before photo to demonstrate what their program did for them. I do this on my website.
If their program does not work for them – it won’t work for you either.

ReplyIf any of these diets really worked there would be a lot heavy people on this earth. When any of them profile their success stories they always add the disclaimer that the "results aren't typical."
We can make any method of eating or not eating (no matter how contradictory) work once. Consistency across the masses has yet to be achieved.
I'm so tired of it.
ReplyAch... it's all about making money. These people don't care about whether or not we get healthier or lighter. It's about making their pocketbooks fatter.
I'll just stick to my own methods.
ReplyI just want to know why so many people are interested in my body. I know the are making money off of insecurities, but even the news feeds into our society-based fear of fat, and then we rush out panicked because they spotted us and buy the first promise of perfect we can find. Maybe it's all a conspiracy?
ReplyNaw, this is only one example of deceptive advertising. Should be nothing new to any of us! Just look at the packaging on household products- can anybody define what "new and improved" really means? Or the statistics that have been adjusted to seem much more powerful? It's nobody's fault- people just need to educate themselves so they can make informed decisions.
ReplyI find it very ironic that a blog filled with comments on how tired you all are diet fads is also filled with ads for diet programs (fads).
ReplyThe other ad on the right sidebar is for the biggest loser club. This is from Rodale publishers and will be expiring soon.
You wouldn't believe how many requests for advertising this blog gets - and how many are turned away.
All ads have now been removed from this post.
