Instant Sweet Tooth
Over the last few years, exotic fruits have been increasingly marketed as nutritional super-foods. The Goji berry, Acai, Tahitian Noni Juice, and Mangosteen are all sold as nutritional supplements - due to their remarkable nutritional profile. However there is another berry that takes the cake (so to speak) - it's a little red berry called the "Miracle Fruit".

Forget sweeteners,
just gobble the berry instead.
All that calorie-conscious sweet-toothed diners have to do is chew the flesh of a berry, taken from the Synsepalum dulcificum plant, for about two minutes, discard the pip, and tuck in. In an instant, the lemons and limes taste as good as an ordinary sugar-laden dessert.A Tokyo cafe has taken the idea further, by offering a menu of low-calorie sour foods. Of course before tucking in, you must eat the Miracle Fruit, and for the next 30 minutes to 1 hour - everything tastes sweet. No need for those high-calorie sugar-laden desserts after all.

...?? what? how can that be true? but it would be awesome to try. Just like artificial sweetener right, also made my the japanese I may add lol.
ReplyNice idea - I think I'll try one after my next Happy Meal – let’s see, which will be, ah, never.
The only thing super about these fruits is the amounts of money people make selling them to their witless friends and relatives in multi-level marketing schemes.

ReplyThat sounds kinda gross. What if you eat something like steak? Sweet steak doesn't appeal to me at all. Or does it only work on sour things? Still....sounds kind of nasty to me.
ReplyI'm pretty sure that it meant your taste bud will taste somewhat sweeter than normal not literally "sweet" like candy. DOH! But I'm very curious about all the claims on the web and yeah somewhat pricey for just fruits. 18oz for $26 +. Wow that is extremly expensive might just be an advertisement schemes.
With all the antioxidants in it though it is worth a try. So I ordered last week, it tast somewhat bitter and sweet. Depends on each fruits ----weird and sometime I can taste dirt in it too. Totally grossed!! It has about 170% Vitamins A, 20% Vitamins C and 12%Iron for 28grams. Very impressive. I don't eat much vegetables and fruits on a daily basis so I will probably order again. Too bad it is extremly expensive though. I'll need to do more reseach on other dried fruits though. Can't afford to keep on buying this and drained out my wallet. Hah!
