Fat Powered Boat

At last, all that body fat is useful for something - you can turn it into biofuel. A New Zealand adventurer is looking for fat volunteers to help power his round-the-world powerboat attempt. He's started the ball rolling by undergoing liposuction:

Mr Bethune said Mr Rees had to probe around a fair bit to get anything and the 100ml of fat extracted wasn't enough to yield fuel.
By contrast, a typical liposuction operation may snare 3kg of fat. Once refined that amount could produce three litres of refined biofuel – enough to drive his Earthrace boat 2km.

There you go - a solution to the oil crisis and the obesity epidemic all rolled into one. If only all the plastic surgeons gave free liposuction operations.

Ew, gross. I've heard of biodiesel before, using vegetable oil as fuel for modified diesel engines...but this is extreme. Why not just use the oil for fuel BEFORE you eat it and it goes to your thighs?
