Liz Hurley and Fake Reality
"I know that sounds bizarre coming from a woman who is photographed half-naked in bikinis, but I feel self-conscious posing for those pictures and they're all retouched anyway."So says Liz Hurley (according to Sky News).

The quotes are from an interview in Easy Living magazine, in which the actress apparently reveals that behind the "annoying" thinness lurks an insecure woman. Ironically this is the very concept portrayed in the post Celebrity Bodies - Whose Business Is It?. We may get the impression that slimness equals happiness, but it is a lie.
Yet now she confesses to feeling much less assured about her looks. She tells Easy Living magazine: "As the years go by you do feel less confident about your body.We might also get the impression that the so-called "perfect" figure (that one such as Liz Hurley is supposed to have) is the epitome of health. However this is also untrue:
...the actress reveals that when she looks in the mirror she sees "a person who eats too much junk food and doesn't exercise."
It's a fake reality, and Liz Hurley - the champion of thin - is the first to admit it.

Thank God it is fake - this kind of thing is not supposed to be real. That is what Hollywood is - a bunch of fake stuff that entertains us.

ReplyI guess if they have to airbrush Liz Hurley, they'd have to airbrush anyone. I'd be happier seeing some real pictures that aren't retouched...it would make me feel better about my body, that's for sure.
ReplyI just think hollywood wants to make people feel bad about themselves. They always put on this fake image for everyone to see. So no one knows who or what they really are. I am pretty sure that none of them know who or what they are. They just know to be fake. Come on know...they play roles (pretending to be someone that they are not) and then they do photo shoots, but have them retouched??!! Come on hollywood be honest with the public for ONCE they are the ones that make you who you think you are anyways!
ReplyIt's Hollywood, baby. We all would look great with all the make-up artists, hairdressors, stylists, and so on. It's a mythical lifestyle. Their only downfall is the reality, they have none. Not being able to be in the public eye without scruity must be tough, however, it's a choice and don't complain. It comes with the job!
ReplyThe fans that "drive" the market that is Hollywood should know that actors are only playing parts, entertainment is their business. However, real concern for the fans could include helping organizations that teach children healthy lifestyles, not all girls will look like their favorite actress and the same goes for guys.Negative images about oneself need not be suffered by those who are never hitting the big screen...movies are fantasy but many do teach us to think....Hey Hollywood !!! Do Something Hip for Kids !!!! www.hip4kids.org
ReplyI'm so glad someone else is highlighting this obsession with the celebrity body. I have a photoblog about my weight and societal pressure to be thin.
