Brazilian Diet Pills Causing Stir
Imagine failing a pre-employment drug test after taking a diet pill. It seems that a number of popular Brazilian "herbal" diet pills have shown traces of amphetamines, and other substances (via Miami Herald):
Most users aren't aware of the pills' possible dangers. Four women seeking jobs at Baptist Health South Florida in the past six months have failed drug tests, said Thomas Moore, who works in the hospital system's employment program. All said they were taking nothing more than over-counter diet pills and were stunned to hear their urine was laced with controlled substances. "This one woman was crying, saying this hospital job was what she wanted to spend her life doing," Moore said.
She brought Moore her Brazilian diet pills -- yellow pills to take in the morning, orange pills to take at night. Moore sent them to Robert White of the federally certified DSI Laboratories in Fort Myers.
White told The Herald the yellow pills contained amphetamines. The orange pills contained tranquilizers and a generic Prozac, apparently to bring users down from the jitters caused by amphetamines and allow them to sleep at night.
The main culprit is a pill called Emagrece Sim - supposedly an "all-natural" pill. It seems that no one can be sure exactly what's in these pills. The claims are of 20-30 pound per month weight loss.
Let the buyer beware! I'll leave the final word to one poor user of these Brazilian pills:
After she learned what the pills contained, she stopped taking them. "I felt very bad. I slept for a week."
Most versions of the pills come in five levels, depending on how much weight a person wants to lose. One woman who lost almost 20 pounds in a month said that after she went from Level 4 to Level 5,"I was really hyper," but when she took the nighttime pill, she couldn't stay awake and fell into a deep sleep at 8:30.
Suspicious, she had the pills tested and discovered the amphetamine-tranquilizer combination.
"This is really big," the woman said. "People in medical institutions, police officers. Everybody is taking these pills and nobody knows what's in them."

Survivor, I am sorry for your plight. Were you on Fen-Phen or Redux? This thread is about the Brazilian Pills and not all diets pills work the same or on everyone.
Replyokay, several questions to 'brazilian pill fan' asking where and how to buy....but I haven't seen a response. the herbathin website offers yellow, orange pill, whey supplement and cellulite cream....all inclusive. do we need all that? can we just get the pills from somewhere and try them?
ReplyIs Emagrece Sim the same as Herbathin??
ReplyI feel so sad reading all of these comments from women who are willing to get thin at any cost, even at the expense of their cardiovascular health and possibly even their lives. Taking unregulated amphetamines can kill you, as Jan and Leslie W. have both pointed out. You wouldn't go to a back alley and purchase crystal meth or speed from a drug dealer to lose weight, so I don't understand why you would be willing to take risky diet pills from a foreign country (which, as the Brazilian who commented earlier states are not even endorsed by legitimate doctors) just because they come in a nice little bottle instead of a plastic baggie and you can pay from them with your credit card instead of with cash.
Over and above the serious and significant health risks to your heart, digestive system, kidneys and liver, the fact is also that these pills are not a long term weight management solution. Sure, the pills may help you lose weight fast at first, but are you really going to keep it off after you stop taking the pills? All signs point to hell no. If you expect to keep the weight off after stopping the pills, you'll have to change your exercise and eating habits anyway. Wouldn't you rather lose weight the healthy way, even though it takes a little longer, more committment and more effort, and keep your health and your life?
ReplyDr. A, I was not being judgmental when I said diet and exercise was the only way to really lose weight. I, like Jan, used to be very obese. I lost weight by really becoming disciplined about what I ate and working out. Sure, it took a while, but the results were well worth it. I have kept the weight off for over 4 years now. All I had to give up time-wise was an hour of TV per night. Most Americans could fit a quick workout into their daily routines, but they choose not to. I also cannot believe how many people on here would be willing to take dangerous drugs simply to lose weight. I totally agree with Kiki, Jan, and Leslie W. The cure for the obesity epidemic is not going to be found in a bottle, I'm sorry to say.
ReplyBrazilian Pill Fan - Where did you order or buy your pills from? I am trying to get rid of extra baby weight!
ReplyHerbathin is not the same as Emagrece Sim. Don't they have different ingredients?
Those of you with negative comments should get real. Only those struggling with weight issue know that there is much more involved with than just dieting and excercising with losing weight. Keep your negative comments to yourself. You don't know what you are talking about.
ReplyIt seems both "Herbathin" and "Emagrece Sim" are referred to as Brazil Diet Pills, so which one did you take "Brazilian Pill Fan"?
To KiKi: If it makes you sad to read these comments, then just don't read them!! Mind your own business and quit dishing out condescending advice that was not solicited.
Reply"Those of you with negative comments should get real. Only those struggling with weight issue know that there is much more involved with than just dieting and excercising with losing weight. Keep your negative comments to yourself. You don't know what you are talking about.
Peaches, those women actually lost weight properly, so I think they know exactly what they're talking about. If you knew what you were talking about, don't you think you would have lost the weight already? You wouldn't be here begging for online vendors for these drug-laced Brazilian diet pills. Sorry for pointing out the obvious, but your logic sucks.
ReplyBen is right. Spectra lost weight and keeps an amazing body fat percentage, I lost weight even with 2 diseases that make you gain weight (PCOS and hypothyroidism, a nice double whammy) and it didn't take any pills other than Centrum and vitamin C (working out makes you need more vitamins).
Elizabeth, the reason your diets worked and then you gained the weight back is the same why people go on diet pills and then gain it all back, just like Frank's post illustrates (he's been on all kinds of diet pills and always regains the weight): you go back to doing what you were doing before. I changed the way I eat for good, and so did Spectra, and we lost weight. Can you see a pattern here? It was not a limited time diet, but a lifestyle change.
And for people like Frank who keep taking pill after pill after pill and regain all the weight, I'd like to remind you that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results every time.
Replyhttp://www.emagrece.com/ -- This looks like the place -- I've been on a 1200/1500 diet since July 1st - exercising 30-45 minutes 5 days a week, and have only lost 15 pounds -- this is my next diet!
ReplyI forgot one point: Elizabeth, I'm not one of those "only your inside matters" people. The outside matters, being fat sucks because of the way you look and because you're always tired and achy. But it is only a part of who you are, not everything you are.
To me being willing to risk your life because you're not happy with the way you look would be equivalent to a disabled person commiting suicide because they are not physically the way they want anymore. Being fat is a way smaller setback than being permanently disabled though, so it is actually a million times worse. What a potential waste of a life.
And if illegal drugs are ok as long as they make you thin, didn't you see the pictures of Kate Moss snorting 20 lines of cocaine over 2h? She is really really thin, and I'm sure you can get cocaine locally more easily than these hard to find Brazilian pills.
ReplyI have hated the way i've looked for the past6 years.60 pounds overweight, also worring about losing my husband. All that stress sure does'nt help. But, I will stay this way instead of taking achance on dying or going to the hospital with serious problems. Just my opinion,Les
ReplyI have gotten these pills from brazilian women. they are the best. I have lost weight effortlessly and I want to purchase some more. they are the one that u take 3 pills in the am and 3 pills in the afternoon. any help please. I live in s. florida
ReplyI had never heard of this "Emagrece Sim" diet pill ever before. Today is the first I've heard of it. It does sound dangerous, but I'm tempted. A few years ago I used Metabolife with Ephedra. You know it has since been banned (Ephedra). I heard it might be legal again soon. Anyway, I lost 30 pounds with that. I only took half of the suggested dose. I wonder if taking half the dose of these pills would be ok? I guess it's hard to tell if we really don't know what's in it. Well, if the Ephedra ban has been lifted, I'll go back to that. I would suggest trying that......a half dose until you get used to it. Cut out some of the fast foods and things too high in fat. Have one blow it day where you can eat whatever you want to. Well, I may have just talked myself out of the Emagrece. I may just take my own advicce. I have 4 kids. I don't really want to risk my health over something that hasn't been studied. I found that The metabolife helped and i didn't have to cut out all of the foods I loved completly. Some diets are so extreme and unrealistic that it's almost impossible. Then we go overboard and stop watching what we eat. I also know that Body for Life works. I just had a hrad time sticking to the exercise regimen. if I missed a workout day.....I'd miss the rest. The metablife gave me energy and I guess i didn't really have to try hard the weight just came off. I suppose I want weight loss the easy way.I know what to do I just don't always do it. I think a lot of us are that way. Bottom line is.....there are many ways to lose weight out there. Some are safe, some questionable. It just depends on how patient you are about losing the weight. Ususally the "quick" ways are pretty risky.
ReplyTo Brazilian Pill Fan:
ReplyFirst of all, can you say addicted? Second of all, please be very very careful. People get ill on these pills. Thinking like "I just want to loose a few more pounds" leads to eating disorders.
WOW, JUST WOW! I am just sick from what I am hearing in here from some of you. I understand the desire to be slim and trim. The yearning to fit into tight fitting clothing without the buldges and rolls. I understand it all! I'm right there with all of you who want to lose weight.
The difference, I've chosen to respect my body and help it heal instead of harming it. By taking these pills you are ruining your metabolism and the NATURAL BALANCE of your body! You have become overweight due to bad diet, lack of exercise, genetics and so on. To become slim you must RESPECT your body!
Are you all that vain that you would give up the gift of life and health to look good in a size 2 pair of pants? This seriously makes me feel sick to my stomach. By taking these pills you are purposely hurting and harming your body. These diet pills are dangerous! Haven't you absorbed any of the stories told in here?
I wish you all luck! I feel you may be heading down a very dangerous and rocky road!
ReplyAll bodies are not created equal. Ben you are in idiot and know nothing about endocrinology. Keep quiet unless you are capable of saying something intelligent.
ReplyIt is absolute lunacy to turn to unregulated amphetamines for weight loss. Will they work? Probably. But then again they might just kill you. Personally, I think being fat is better than being dead, and if anyone thinks otherwise perhaps antidepressants, not amphetamines, are in order.
ReplyCan somebody who finall found the a good website to order from, let me know the web address, please!
ReplyCan somebody who finally found a good website to order these pills from, let me know the web address, please!
ReplyAmphetamines are still around because they are needed by the airforce. All pharmaceuticals, even aspirin, can be dangerous. Did you know that amphetamines are used to treat attention deficit disorders. Some of these medications prescribed for these "new illnesses" of the late 20th century and this century were once used as weightloss medications. They are no longer marketed for weightloss treatment because they were not as profitable back then so they were shelved. Now they are back on the market with new labels to treat other illnesses.
ReplyI have been on the Original Emagrece Sim for 4 Months. I have losed 20 lbs. I now weight 125 lbs. I have has no bad side effects. I am actually healthier. I went to the doctor to take a drug test. There were no drugs found in me. My blood pressure is actually lower.
There are many fakes. You need to be careful, it is very hard to tell which are the originals.
I have no proof that the Original Emagrece Sim has drugs, all I know is that I did a drug test and it came out negative.
Many of my family members are taking the originals. All have lost weight, all are healthier, and all have done a drug test and all came back negative..
hope this helps
ReplyHere is were u can purchase the original emagrece sim.. if you bought a bottle of emagrece sim and it looks different than the one shown on the link.. ITS A FAKE!!

ReplyMichelle.
ReplyIt says on the website that shipments from Brazil have been delayed. Have you ordered any lately? And if so, how long did it take to get them? Also, how long did it take you to lose the 20 lbs? How did the pills make you feel?
I found other vendors that are selling that product. Would other vendors sell the same product? This one has a nicer layout WWW.NYEmagreceSim.com
Replyso...someone lost 20 pounds in 4 months on the pill, and someone lost 15 pounds in 3 months without it. everyone- hold your breath for as long as you can and see what happens. that means, dont eat any junk food, don't swallow any pills, just hold your breath and be ashamed of yourselves for not going for a walk.
ReplyHey all...I take Phetermine 37.5,and some days it really really works..no appetite and other days they dont work one bit!Well I started taking them September 19th..and start weight 190lbs and was 184lbs 2 weeks ago and today Im 187lbs..so I've had day that the plain out just didnt work.I may very well try the Brazil pills..posted by michelle.Thanxs Michelle!!!
ReplyI have posted some more information about the secret ingredient to these pills at http://www.lazytrainer.com/2005/10/17/get-up-to-speed-on-brazillian-diet-pills/, so you can make an informed decision before scrambling to get your brazilian fix... There are plenty of reasons to avoid these pills.
ReplyPeaches, you obviously have issues if you are advocating the use of amphetamines as a weight loss drug. My sister has ADD and has been on Dexadrine for several years. It did help her to focus, but it also gave her very bad side effects like not sleeping well, being moody, heartbeat problems, and other things. She HATES being on them and is trying to get away from taking them, despite the fact that they also supress her appetite. She claims it is not worth it...she says she is not herself when she is on the pills and it's true. She has now been pill-free for almost two months now and hasn't gained any weight although she does claim that it takes a little more effort to not eat as much now.
Oh, and the reason these "weight loss medications" were never marketed is because they are so very unpredictable in their nature. Amphetamines, ephedra, cocaine, etc., all cause weight loss and are "useful" for treating other problems, but since their risks outweigh the benefits, they are scheduled as Class I/II controlled substances.
ReplyTo anybody who is considering taking amphetamines to lose weight or for any other reason: It's not worth your life! Diet pills and Methamphetamine aren't new. Back in the 1960's the Hippies had a slogan: "Speed Kills!" Amphetamines can cause heart attacks, strokes, seizures and bizarre psychosis (I knew an amphetamine addict who thought he was Jesus Chirst and that he had created a pair of sunglasses out of thin air, but the cops arrested him for shoplifting them; they later transfered him to the psych ward. That was in 1968. Readers Digest magazine featured him in an article about "look what drugs are doing to our youth!" He was murdered in 1986 while wandering homeless- homeless because of his speed addiction...) Don't risk your health, your freedom and your very life messing with that sh*t. I ought to know. I nearly destroyed my own life on speed, but I got off of it just in time. That was in 1977. I haven't touched them since then but I still crave them. Oh, did I mention that they're WICKEDLY addictive?
ReplyMichelle when was the last time you ordered from the site you posted? Any order vendors distributing the same products?
ReplyI ordered from wwww.NYEmagreceSim.com earlier today and the site has the same product package that I saw on the www.OriginalEmagreceSim.com site. They were $180.00 for level 1 and this is a 45 day supply.
My body, my choice!
ReplyI AM TAKING THE PILLS THAT COST $120 A SHIPMENT. IS THAT THE BAD ONES. I HEARD THE PILLS THAT COST $185 A MONTH ARE THE ONES WITH ALL THE BAD THINGS IN IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT! THANKS,
ReplyLIZ
Spectra I do not have issues. I am more informed than most; and I do not get easily swayed by the media be it positive or negative. The pharmaceutical industry is quite profitable. Dexadrine has been prescribed for weightloss. Perhaps your sister would be better off taking something else. Speak to her doctor about other treatments or find a new doctor. Once again I will state, and will phrase it differently this time around, there is no such thing as one size fits all medicine. What may work for someone may not work for everyone.
ReplyIS HERBATHIN OR EMAGSLIM THE ONE THAT WAS TESTED WITH THE AMPHETAMINES?
ReplyI do not know which brand tested positive for the amphetamines. The site (nyemagrecesim.com) I ordered from represents the product as containing no ephedra or amphetamine in the supplement.
ReplyThe Miami Herald article posted on this website states that the "culprit" for testing positive for amphetamines is the Brazi Pill product "emagrece sim", however the picture of the product displayed with the article is "herbathin". It is my understanding that both of these products have the same manufacturer. The Herbathin is touted as the NEW emagrece sim and is tailored to each person needs after reviewing the health questionaire the customer must complete when ordering.
ReplyDoes anyone know if the www.braziliandiet.com Emagrece Thin product is valid?
